99% of the jokes seem really immature, and I'm not talking jokes about tits or shit or whatever, but jokes that just pander to 12 year old humour senses
Every now and then Handsome Jack can get off a line that can make me smile but most of the time I find everyone so fucking irritating

I think that the meme jokes are purposely cringy, it's still really annoying to hear them, in my opinion, the rest of the jokes I really like, even if some of them are hit and miss to me, I enjoy that they tried anyways.
I really wish the "cool story, bro" "I'm rich, BIATCH" and those really annoying lines that keep coming up, I really enjoyed BL1's characters because of this, I have to say the 4 first vault hunters had more character by saying less, even though the second batch of characters are technically much more developped in every single aspects.

This. I would much rather have a laid back story with a couple of minor meme references than TEAM ALPHA GO TO POINT CHARLIE AND BLOW UP THE BAD GAHS TO SAVE PANDORA.
Sure it's sort of how the game plays out but the delivery is much different.

K I'm trying to farm bunker but about every 3rd time I get a Fatal Error and borderlands crashes the moment it dies. Still haven't gotten any legendaries or skins/heads.

I suppose I should've expected a lot of fans of Borderlands in the BORDERLANDS thread but I really just feel as a game it's poorly written, the story's got a shitton of plot holes and the characters are painfully written
I have nothing against this game and I like it a lot, but by no means am I putting this on a "Best written games" list or anything

The thing is, the writing is like 500% better than BL1.
And people play it for the first time expecting characters as fleshed out as a dried cactus but suddenly the characters actually have a personality and woah they are actually like talking to you, all that stuff.

Do you have any examples or are you just going to say its poorly written.
Because as someone noted above, most games these days don't really having great writing, and considering I either smiled or outright laughed out loud several times during my first playthrough of BL1 I'd say it's p fucking good. I'd go so far as too say near Portal 2 quality.

I think my main problem with Borderlands writing is that any given piece of dialogue could be said by any character and it probably wouldn't change too much, just add "Soldier" to the end if Roland is talking, or "Kiddo" if it's Handsome Jack.

im not really sure borderlands is meant to have a plot rivaling games like what you mentioned
its supposed to be a humorous game with some plot, but not some game driven narrative
