the ai is so unpredictable. like i got in fight with stalkers when we all had to hide from emission. satmosphere is super awesome, like it freaked me out when i was in th middl of nowhe
i think the ai is definitely the most believable in cop
yes, buy them all.
and get all the patches off ebay while youre at it too
I would highly recommend it, but it seems like people either love it or hate it. I absolutely fucking adore it, glitches and all but I know some people who think it is a bucket of melted shit. But if you do decide to get it make sure to download all patches except the leaked ones and get a graphics overhaul mod like Stalker Complete 2009.
Stalker is a great game. I didn't like clear sky though. However, SoC takes a bit of getting used to, it's one of the games you really need to give it a chance and get a bit into the game. Same with CoP. Some people hate the game, some people love it. The ones who love it are the ones with patience who gave it a chance.
Depends in what you like, SHoC is a horror/survival over action type of game, CS is action over horror/survival, but i'm not so Sure about CoP, haven't played it yet.
I've only played a brief amount of Shadows of Chernobyl but looks a very good game. Is the online addictive?
I've only played a brief amount of Shadows of Chernobyl but looks a very good game. Is the online addictive?
No.
Better hope you're able to run it. Hope you're not like me. I meet all the system requirements with ease, but I have yet to play this game because it crashes every time I attempt to launch it. I can't even get so far as having the screen turn momentarily black, and I've been waiting two weeks for an answer from their tech support. I mean I've been talking to them, but :iiam: as to why my computer can't run SoC
If your screen just goes pure black and you hear sound, it's a config issue. Ask someone for their stalker settings file and put it in. Trust me, I have to search for one everytime because I get the same problem.
The only question is, STALKER:SoC, STALKER:CS, or STALKER:CoP? I've only tried the original so I'm actually not really sure which is more worth it.
SoC is the best. [editline]10:29PM[/editline]
I got SoC on sale for like $5 or whatever and didn't like it much. Just came back to it and once you start playing, its great! The no auto-save feature is really irritating though.
Autosaving would screw you up, trust me. The Zone would set you up if it had autosaves.

I really really liked SHoC but I stopped playing it and now I can't get back into it or Clear Sky. Buy Call of Pripyat, I have a few friends who have it and they say it's much better than CS and SHoC.
I thought the original was pretty good but then I bought Clear sky and... ... :crying: Clear Sky has really put me off buying CoP. It was a bag of shit.
CoP is godly compared to Clear Sky.
So here is my experience: I bought it online from a game store. They shipped me the box with manual and disc. So i installed it. (Im pretty sure I didnt patch it either yet I havnt had any glitches) anyways, I stated it. The controls are a little clunky, but as soon as ou get used to them they run like clockwork. (as long as you're not some impatient retard) So I started. I will only play my games at a high difficulty level. So I died quite a few times on the first mission. Finally got through that. I was all like "AWWWW YEEAAAHH!!" So I continued playing. I would keep dying, had no ammo, always bleeding my guts out from gun shot wounds or dog bites. Wasnt liking it very much. So I got to the barkeep (a vendor of sorts) and bought my first scoped weapon. Luck has it I had to stop to go somewhere right then. So I saved and shut it off. So there it sat on my computers harddrive. For quite a while. Every time I would think about playing it I would remember how "un-fun" it was to wobble around with very little health having to run like a scared school girl away from any enemies. (all my guns sucked at the time) So i decided to give it one more try. I played it every spare moment for a week after that. I felt like a king. I could now shoot from afar with my scoped rifle and started this process: Take small mission> kick ass> collect money for mission> buy better gun + a truck load of ammo> kick more ass repeat. I took down a whole base while carrying a sniper rifle, 2 machine guns, a pistol, and a shot gun. Taking that base out was the most fun experience Ive ever had on a PC game. So yes. get it. But PLEASE play it in order. Start with SoC.
I think, i'ma buy it ;p Thanks for all the replies, definately sold it to me ;) Would you recommend retail or steam or doesn't it matter in the slightest?
Whatever is cheaper.
Steams good, means you don't have to worry about disks and patching it. But whatevers cheapest :P I bought SoC on disk, then I grabbed it on steam for £2.50 as well. Just in case :tinfoil:.
If you want a good mod for SoC that fixes a lot of bugs, but doesn't change gameplay in any way whatsoever, look into getting the ZRP (Zone Reclamation Project). It has some nifty features (always good quality NV, shutting the "Get out of here Stalker guys up). And you are able to merge it with some other mods, so there are rarely conflicts.
TBH It really boring you shot someone 30 times with a pistol and they still alive
Hey, ever heard of mods? Oh, no, I suppose not. :downs: [editline]09:23AM[/editline]
I've only played a brief amount of Shadows of Chernobyl but looks a very good game. Stop making fucking stupid ass threads about games that already have fucking mega threads.
stop being such a dick.
I found SoC to be slow, boring, difficult, and pretty much broken. I would say it's not worth it.
I like SoC. Got it when it was 2 dollars. Thanks Comcastic.
Definitely worth it. CoP is fun so far, it's cool to run into mutants having fights and stalkers fighting bandits/mutants.
I'm not really far in Shoc now [sp]Just passed Strelok's underground base part with the first bloodsucker[/sp] but it's amazing.
the story is good
I didn't know stalker had a story. Stalker games would be great if the combat wasn't total shit. All the guns are inaccurate and weak as all fuck. Plus, it follows stupid RPG development rules. IE You find this gun early, so its weak and generally bad, this other gun you find late so its really powerful. Regardless of how the actual guns perform.
There is no RPG element to the game. Character development is OOC (you the player become better and more proficient, not your character). You just find the better shit nearer the middle of the zone as you would need that to survive. Also the guns are fine, stop firing from the hip.
