On their website, I know it's in the first post but it's NOWHERE on their website.
Wasn't the Akira like, one of two of the only Federation designs specifically for space combat?
Yes, that and the Defiant. Prometheus too
Although the Federation would never publicly admit that fact

Pink Phasers are a go!
They fixed this bug :(
Well, i tried the game out. So far i like it, however the only thing i do not like is the "template trees." Really just the way you have to progress though them, other then i like the game.
So how do i get a new ship?
So how do i get a new ship?
Get to level 11 (Lt. Cmdr) and you get a free ship, Either a Cruiser, an escort or a science ship, your choice.

---General Overview---
The year is 2409 (31 years after Voyager). Ten years ago, the peace treaty between the Klingon Empire and Federation of Planets dissolved. The two superpowers are now in a full-blown war. After the destruction of Romulus and Remus (and thus the Romulan Empire's central government) the once-mighty Romulan Empire is crumbling. The Cardassian Union is not faring any better. On top of this, there's the ever-present threat of the Borg, Species 8472 (now called the Undine), and many others.
Playable Characters
You can choose to play as a member of Starfleet (Humans, Vulcans, Bajorans, Andorians, Ferengi, Tellarites, and anything you can come up with in the species creator are available) or the Klingon Defence Force (Klingons, Gorn, Nausicaans, Orion, and anything you can come up with in the Species creator are available here). Later on, different groups, such as the Dominion and Romulans will be playable. Each species has both static and changeable bonuses. Everyone has a total of four constant bonuses for their captain.
In addition to faction and species, you must choose your career. Basically, science officers are the stat-buffers, engineering officers are good with machines and can place ground mines and turrets, and tactical officers do massive damage.
Combat
Combat is split into two main groups: Space and Ground.
Space:
In space, you must pilot your ship to make the most of the positions of your weapons, shield strength, and other various stats. Once you are within ten kilometers of an enemy, you may open fire. Energy weapons are effective against shields while torpedoes and mines are effective against hull plating. As such, your goal is to drain the enemy shield and destroy their ship without being killed first. This is easy at first, but eventually some serious tactics come into play. Ships also have classes, each of which has its strengths and weaknesses.
Ground:
This is classic MMO combat. You run around, use items and buffs, etc. The only two things particular to this is the shield which protects you from harm, and the fact that crouching gives you an added bonus with long-range weapons. Also, setting up an expose attack and then an exploit attack will do massive damage, occasionally disintegrating your enemy on sight.
Exploration
Really, Star Trek has always been about teaching people lessons through stories of exploring strange new lands. I don't know if you'll learn a lesson from it, but the good men at Cryptic have definitely kept up with the exploration.
When you take exploration missions, you roam around an uncharted sector of space looking for strange readings. When you find one, you accept it and a sort of mini-mission. This is where the real Star Trek lore comes into play. In the short time I played in the beta, I came across non-corporal beings that feast on children from the Original Series, a species introduced in The Next Generation, and a slight reference to Enterprise.
What if you don't want to do that? Too bad, you have to. Most of the best equipment you can buy (outside of the player-to-player auctions) requires exploration badges, which are of course acquired by exploring.
Strange Readings
You will come across a lot of unidentified materials. you can whip out your scanners to point you to them at any time. What you do with these unidentified minerals, artifacts, and general riff-raff is take them over to the good scientists of Memory One. At this massive complex in the Alpha Centauri Sector, you can use these materials to upgrade your whimsy basic equipment into rarer forms with better stats, which is definitely a plus.

Wish respecs were in the game right now, I wanna change some shit :(
Is it possible for me to get a trial from someone? I really want to try it first before I buy it to see how I like it. I would really appreciate it!

Yeah, running nicely too.
Thanks again.
decided to buy the other admiral escort and play about in it, like it more than the advanced one due to the extra engineer slot which is awesome for a EPS console so power transfer is much better.

How did you get to admiral so fast if you don't mind me asking?
He has no life.
IMO that escort looks nothing like a real Star Trek ship.
More of a Star Wars kind.
My gold edition box arrived today :)
I haven't entered any codes in, but i can still play off the presale code.
Any idea how that works? Also which code does the free 30 days come from?
Anyone know where i turn in data samples?

Dad entered the DS9 outfits and got 30 days with that one, unsure what the hell the one on the book does then.

The game is ultra casual.
My DS9 uniforms code also gave me the TNG uniforms. Sweet.
The DS9 uniforms code is your "Gold Edition" code and the one on the box is just a normal "Retail Edition" code.

I somehow got 30 days from the DS9 uniform code, then another from the other 30 day retail.

Me too. 60 free days
Just checked my billing date and it's April :D
I've been playing this game for a few days now and holy shit is it repetitive. I like how it is casual, but it is so much of the same thing.
I can only play it a few hours at most and then need a break.
They didn't make a universe that complements fans of star trek, they're just banking on the name.

Not only is it repetitive but it's bloody broken to hell.

Its A LOT better than it was even a week ago. Nearly all of the systems are fixed now.
Its A LOT better than it was even a week ago. Nearly all of the systems are fixed now.
By systems do you mean as in Galaxies? Becuase yeah I agree.
But the constant downtime and lack of information as to why is grinding my gears.
Also my character got stuck in a downed instance whilst on a mission yesterday.
The downtime isn't that bad anymore, the big thing is the queue imo.
The downtime isn't that bad anymore, the big thing is the queue imo.
you can skip the queue if you keep cancelling and retrying.
Main thing pissing me off right now is getting locked out for 20min or so when it decides it doesn't want to load you into a system.
you can skip the queue if you keep cancelling and retrying.
Or live in Europe and play when all the Americans are asleep. :v:
i do that
