I load up on every single damage and shield buff I have, lock on a tractor beam and a tetryon beam, put full power into the forward shields, and launch all weapons. The Romulan loses 20% of his hull strength and most of one shield. The Romulan launches one salvo of plasma torpedoes. It demolishes my shields and I'm dead in an instant. Just in case you're wondering, I am playing on-level. [editline]22nd December 2011[/editline] :suicide:
If I were you guys I'd hold off on making the guild until it goes F2P, then you can start fresh with WAY more members.
I was thinking the same thing, but the sooner we make it, the better. It would be much easier to tell a bunch of new people to just hit "join fleet" than ask a group over to a party to make the fleet.
Alright, makes sense. God, I can't wait... I've played the trial twice, and I love space MMOs, this'll be the first decent free one.
Going to be good when this goes free to play. Really want to continue with my Cruisers.
Got the deluxe edition exactly a year ago on steam sale. Waiting for it to go F2P again so i can continue my level 41 cruiser captain thing.(trying to get 1 month right now so i can start already). EDIT: Holy shit has the game gotten alot better after the year long break. ground combat is acctualy enjoyable now and the game runs better than before. Looks better too. Cruisers still turn like pregnant turtles.
This F2P business is cool and all. But those terrible grab bags are getting on my nerves. You pay real money for a very small chance to get the items you desire, and the rest is total garbage. CO has this as well, and people on the test server found out how incredibly low the chances of getting anything worthwhile out of them. On average, you had to pay over a dozen times more than usual just to get a single worthwhile item. To stop community members from finding further information about the drop rates, they've actually completely removed the C-Store on the test server shortly after that. Now they're expanding it onto costumes as well. Previously we had Costume packs which, for a small sum of points, guaranteed the full set of whatever you were buying (as it should be). Now you have to buy these grab bags to get your set, which usually consists of more than 10 pieces. Meaning that to get everything you need for your character, you're probably gonna have to fork over a lot more points to get it. And this is barring duplicates and unlucky streaks.
Interesting news for anyone who has subscribed before but isn't Subbed now http://www.startrekonline.com/node/2756
That's great, really looking forward to playing again.

Wow, I didn't catch that. It's actually pretty awesome.
Sweet, looks like I'll be playing later on then.
I just realized something going over the F2P changes. You dont get extra bridge officer space when you rank up in F2P meaning at higher levels F2P pepole get compeltly fucked.
The lack of a true endgame has basically turned my sessions in STO to wandering around while assigning Doffs to whatever jobs I can find.
Really? No end game? Hm that doesn't sound too good.
Haven't played this since my initial month, looking forward to trying it out again. As I recall, my Andorian Captain was quite awesome looking
Really? No end game? Hm that doesn't sound too good.
Yeah. Unfortunately, the endgame is pretty much sitting around and waiting for the next season to be released.
Logged in for a few minutes today. I like the changes they've made, except for the fact that everything is harder to get for f2p players.

That Romulan Temple fleet action is the worst fleet action in existence, how could Cryptic make a map that takes at least 3 hours to finish and give out the same reward as doing a normal 20 minute mission... Also, can't believe they've blocked silver players from playing any Community Authored maps, I was under the assumption that we were just blocked from making them.
As of typing this, theres a Crystalline entity fleet action that's been running for 9 hours 46 mins... and that's not the longest one I've seen, but I do agree the Rom temple one is a joke though.
Also, can't believe they've blocked silver players from playing any Community Authored maps, I was under the assumption that we were just blocked from making them.
What? you should be able to play them. According to the F2P features chart you can play them, either its a bug or you're doing something wrong. You've gone to the mission journal and selected the "Community Authored" tab right?

[editline]9th January 2012[/editline]
In what way?
Most ships/weapons can only be bought with the new currency.
Most ships/weapons can only be bought with the new currency.
Yeah, but you should have enough dilithium at level up to afford your new ship, and if you don't, getting dilithium is not hard at all. Just grind the exploration dailies. Heck, you had to grind them before they introduced dilithium anyways if you wanted good gear. You got Marks of exploration and what not. All my gear on my Main until I hit VA was from grinding Exploration missions for marks.
I just bought a 'Expand Bridge Officer slots' item on the C-store thinking it would give my ship more bridge officer slots... Nope.
I can confirm that its blocked for silver players..
it is a bug http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?p=3940708#post3940708
it is a bug http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?p=3940708#post3940708
Well then :I
There was one mission that took about an hour to finish but was really cool and involved time travel on Bajor, DS9 and ghosts - better than all of the official made missions.
