I have no clue how to play this game, did like the first 2 missions but I don't even know what half the rewards are used for.
Also, at what point can you get a new ship?

Every 10 levels you can get a new ship
Does an account work if you registered slightly prior to the F2P launch? Because I can't log in, I've tried the Perfect World and Cryptic username with the same password, but it's still saying that I have an invalid login.

Wait, what the fuck? Seems to work now, never mind.
[editline]edit[/editline]
But all the images in the launcher are broken for whatever reason. :v:
Too bad the implications of controling your ship from the bridge is just trailer fluff. And I do really mean it. It would've been fucking awesome if it were...

I completely agree.
At the moment being able to walk around your ship is.. well pointless. (as far as i know anyway).
I'm just about to log onto STO, and see how much of a clusterfuck it is with all the new F2P players :S

You can go to your shuttle at the transporter room now, that's pretty much it.
Their probably still working on it.
Jesus, I just experienced the worst bug ever.
Being unable to fire or use an abilities whatsoever until I restarted the game.
Other than that, I like that you can play in shooter mode... makes ground combat a little less boring.
Too bad space combat is still a snooze.

yea i knew that, it's pretty cool, but i personally dont want to fly around everywhere in a shuttle unless i have to :P
Anyone else noticing lag?
My connection is fine, but i'm lagging to the point of it being almost unplayable.
Haven't had any problems.

So, I see these sovereign and galaxy class ships with like green stuff over them, borg and non borg, is that something F2P players can get?

I'm not entirely sure... before they were rewards for doing STFs but those were replaced, not sure where to get them now.
I think you can still get one from a late Admiral mission.

My steam copy was like 4 gigs but then there was a 4 gig patch and then if you want the FULL client its another 4 gigs.

Its the first time that earth spacedock had like 20 instances going on at once.

Yea, it's just a item set that you get from doing late game STF's.
What can you do with all the samples from anomalous readings? it's clogging up more than a quarter of my inventory.

Use them to craft items at Memory Alpha in the Alpha Centauri Sector Block, north of Sirius and next to Romulan space.

You can get the borg pieces from the NPC that gives you the tier tokens.
Its under general goods.

Or sell them on the exchange.
I've started to play this game, but I don't know if I'm playing it correctly. I'm only rank 5 at the moment, but I've noticed that it takes ages to destroy ships and the missions become long as hell as a result. Am I doing anything wrong? I'm playing tactical as my career path thing.
I don't know what I should be putting my skillpoints in and I've never really had this problem with MMOs. I guess this one is just a bit more complex on choices.

Try to take down the shields at one side, that way you'll damage them faster.
Unless you already figured that out.

I downloaded around 4 gigs from the actual site and the game starts downloading content as you play.

That's one thing that solved it in some situations, but most ships will try and circle me and then I end up just going for any part of the ship I can hit.

What i sometimes do is go at the back of ships and keep trying to hit that same spot with phasers and torpedo's.

Reminds me of the only thing that has really been annoying me to no end in this game. The turning. I don't see why they feel the need that we must do some sort of Space-U-turn instead of having the ship just turn around. Why can't ships turn around in space!

The skills descriptions explain what they do pretty well.

Check which difficulty setting you are playing on, see if you've been getting new weapons as you level up, use your abilities, rank up your skills, rank up your Bridge Officers skills, do broadside firing.
Also remember to adjust your power allocation to tactical.
I gave one of my officers a fire suppression device.
Now she thinks everything is on fire.

I love the extinguisher, it puts out every type of fire. I use it on my BOFFs if someone plasma grenades them.
