Yep, Blood Moons double the spawn limit for enemies, so you have more attackers. But just you hold out a Water Candle and drink a Battle Potion, and suddenly a Blood Moon would seem rather delightfully quaint, if you ask me.
i dread getting a full blood moon in hard mode. soooo many werewolves!
This isn't a chat thread? Man, did I get lost!
Har har, Point taken.
Har har, Point taken.
I was just poking a little fun, no offense intended. Plenty of the people do still play but a lot like me tend to typically only play a lot around update time.
Y'know, i've been wondering about the Hearts and Mana Crystals. What if you could use those things as "experience points" of a sort in conjunction with another NPC? For example, I could go to the Nurse (Hello Nurse) and give her some of the Heart Crystals I found, then once she has enough Crystals she can hand out long-lasting protective buffs in exchange for Gold, including increased resistances, more Stamina (the devs mentioned a Stamina system being intertwined with farming of some kind), more Defense, etc. The Wizard could do similar things with Mana Crystals, creating and upgrading spells in exchange for Gold and Mana Stars (Mana things are a renewable resource as opposed to the Crystal Hearts being limited), with his capabilities being upgraded if you give him Mana Crystals. (How very kind of you, [insert NPC name here]! Swing by sometime and i'll put the kettle on! -Wizard upon receiving Mana Crystals) It'd be kinda cool if each NPC had their own "experience item" that you could give to them to increase their capabilities, like the Merchant's stock upgrades if you spend certain accumulative amounts of Gold on him, Arms Dealer and Demolitionist levelling up in terms of their arsenal (both in combat and as salesmen) if you give them Gunpowder, Dryad becomes more powerful when given Jungle Spores and if you give her certain special items from the Light and Dark (Demonite increases her Corruption lore, Crystal Shards increases her Hallow lore), she can make things with a theme of either (give her enough Crystal Shards and at max Hallow lore she could give you the mighty Gaiathorn). As for the Tinkerer and Mechanic, perhaps Gems and Metals could upgrade their respective Tech levels, though they'd only go so far with Copper and Topaz so you'd need to give them better quality stuff to truly up their bars.

yeah you should really pitch this stuff the the guys behind terriair
Do they have a forum where we can drop off ironman?
Any servers up?
Anyone got a spare bomb statue?I found most statues but the bomb statue...
why would you want it, it's useless
Looking for another person with Hamachi to 1 on 1 straight playthrough of Terraria. PM me.
I love this game. First few hours, I was just mindlessly digging through dirt and stone, harvesting copper and the occasional iron, when suddenly - BAM! THERE YOU GO, A GRAPPLING HOOK! AND TAKE THESE HERMES BOOTS! WHAT ABOUT 3 HEART CRYSTALS? HAVE A NICE DAY!
My World has been stuck at just before dawn for 10 minutes now. Help? D:
My World has been stuck at just before dawn for 10 minutes now. Help? D:
Try waiting 10 more, eventually exit and go back into your world. Also, are you sure you were at ground level and watching the sky the entire time?
Yeah i watched it go across the sky and i've exited twice now. But it's helpful since i get to try skeletron more than once in one night :)
I don't get why people trade outside of servers and worlds, it's no different than downloading an inventory editor and giving yourself it. The only exception to this is if the whole thing was taking place in the same World where the items and resources were harvested.

And don't say that the person you're trading with could've cheated it in, because while that is true it's really unlikely that they would be trading if they're okay with spawning stuff anyway. Am I a cheater because I have several worlds for gathering resources from? No. That's silly.
So two meteors have fallen on my world. Neither are actually on land, so that means they've fallen on sky islands :/
Have you searched the ocean?
Yeah, both have nothing
So two meteors have fallen on my world. Neither are actually on land, so that means they've fallen on sky islands :/
You sure you've checked the entire map? Could've missed something in the distance...
You sure you've checked the entire map? Could've missed something in the distance...
Well if he's checked both oceans, then I don't think he'd miss anything.
Found two sky islands right next to each other. And three shadow orbs in very close vicinity of each other, too.
Christ, any of you tried giving hardcore mode a serious go? I think my mate's up to character 4 and I'm already on number 7. I always die in the most retarded ways though, no matter how often it happens I never learn. Was just looting a chest when a worm rocked up and pushed me into lava, tried to ALT F4 but it was too quick for me.
Y'know, i've been wondering; how would Terraria fare if the NPCs were voice-acted? The actors'd need to have good enough voices and have said voices fit what we'd perceive the characters to sound like, so that it doesn't sound too out of place. The Arms Dealer would logically need to sound like a black guy since he's technically black, and the Merchant could probably do with a voice similar to Jesse Cox's "old miner" voice. (HOO HOO HOO, GOOOOOLD!) Also, I found this little ditty whilst checking for music to listen whilst doing coursework.
I guess, NPC voices could fit in a game like this, but only as one line like your quote from Mr. Cox due to its retro-like style.
Having NPC voices when you click on them would be pretty cool, it'd get annoying if it was anywhere else , though. Maybe when you do a transaction with them too.
Merchant: I'll give you a discount if you can set me up with the dryad in the room across from me. Dryad: you know i can hear you right?
EoW defeated! OH YEAH! [editline]4th February 2012[/editline] Incredibly tense and fun. Well then, I'm gonna move on to Eye of Cthulhu!
