What are mechanics? How big game is content wise? Game replayability compared to minecraft?
There is a shit ton of content compared to minecraft, which makes it a lot more replayable. Get a couple of friends, host a game and just play it together - this game is so much fun with a couple of mates, jumping down caves and fighting through the corruption
It has WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more content than minecraft, the replayability is kinda 'eh...' when you get the final equipment, but it took me just under 80 hours to get to the final stuff, doing it all solo alone.
Is this game slow paced or quick as hell? Or can you regulate it yourself?
Keep them to myself and laugh at the beggars.
Your dick to him.
Is this game slow paced or quick as hell? Or can you regulate it yourself?
You can regulate it yourself. If you wanted, you could get all the endgame equipment really quickly, but that's not as fun as just playing at your own pace (and blowing up your friends)

One more question. How fun this game is singleplayer?
[release]
Hey guys. I just wanted you to know that I'm back from being very busy with college and work. I've received some help with TerrariViewer and I'm happy to say that TerrariViewer v6.5 is out and it supports v1.1.2 of Terraria!
There may be a few bugs as always, but it works with the new player format. If you have any questions, you can contact me here, http://terrariviewer.codeplex.com/workitem/list/basic, or http://twitter.com/#!/tjchap2840
Enjoy!
One more question. How fun this game is singleplayer?
Not as fun as multiplayer, but you still get a lot out of it until you reach endgame. The bosses seem ridiculously easy with friends, so if you are looking for a challenge you could play alone. If you want to know more about the game, you could check out the developer let's play, even if it is a bit outdated and a lot of things have changed since then, it still tells you about the game's base mechanics.

Okay, thanks for answers, now i just have to wait and try to win it in steamgifts.
Because i'm sure as hell that noone in this thread is kind enough to gift me the extra copy :)
Does the item mod still work?
Does the item mod still work?
If you mean TerrariViewer, then I just released an update that works for 1.1.2. If you don't, then you might need to be more specific on "item mod".

So you asked all the questions reaffirming your want to get it, and now you're not going to buy it? And now you're passively aggressively calling everyone in the thread selfish?
What a cool guy.

It's 10 bucks, it isn't a wallet breaker.
I mean I bought the game on a whim when I played it at my brother's house. When it's cheap enough that a poor person who buys like 2-3 games a year can buy it on a whim, you have little excuse not to purchase it yourself.
no. I will buy it it if i will not win.
Win?
Just buy the game already. It is worth the money and no one is going to gift it to you.
no. I will buy it it if i will not win.
Do you know the chance you have to win a game on steamgifts?
That chance is lowered further by the fact that you won't always actually get the gift.
i wouldn't expect to win anything ever unless the odds are 1 in 2. 18 years of entering the random contests in my life and i've won at most 20$ in scratch offs after spending about 40$ on em and a jacket from a school raffle that was just terrible. if you want something, your better off buying it.
PM me if you want hamachi access to a server. Need Hamachi.
so whats the best choice for soloing the twins? i tried magic and got pretty far but... flaming eye kinda hurts when he enrages...
would i be better off with a megashark?
I've heard a megashark with crystal bullets is recommended
i'll have to do that, i tried cursed flame and crystal storm, it does good damage but i havn't found a single heart or mana statue so i die pretty easy. seems all i had to do to avoid damage was fly up and then fall down at full speed to avoid the twins basic two attacks.

Get a mana flower?
Let me tell you right now; magic and ranged need buffs. Not so much range; but more tilted towards magic. One, all magic damage is weak. Ranged has a side-effect of having gravity affect their arrows but at least the arrows + bow can do hefty damage.
The crystal ball gives magic-oriented buffs and archery potions makes at least bows do more damage.
Don't bullets count as ranged projectiles too?
Also I kinda feel that magic isn't as "unique" as magic should be. Currently it's mostly weapons that use a collective pool of regenerating ammo, with some items that aren't combat-based like the Ice Rod and Orb of Light.
Personally i'd rather have a rudimentary system of elements, reserves of elemental energy to use in conjunction with regular mana to cast spells of a particular element. It'd be a bit like combining traditional mana systems with aspects of Magic: The Gathering, though i'm wondering whether you'd need to have the reserves as items to wear, or to simply consume said item to build up the reserves like traditional Mana. If there were a land-based aspect as well, where certain elements would regenerate faster whilst in different biomes (Earth would regen faster underground, Fire would regen faster in Hell or near a Meteor, etc), then it'd be a bit more like Magic, though it probably shouldn't go THAT far...
Most games that includes magic usually try to make it stand out in comparison to other combat, either if it is just a cool effect or unique spells that does useful or awesome stuff. An example can be with Skyrim where you get special spells to turn iron into gold and create elemental explosions around yourself.
Indeed; Terraria could definitely use a revamp to the magic system. Maybe it could be tied into the offhand system I suggested a long time back, whereby the player could utilise an offhand item like a Shield (Terraria could do with actual shields) or spell. Player buffs seem to be handled mostly by potions, but maybe some support spells could be implemented, like Lightning Rod acting similar to Ice Rod only the blocks damage and repel enemies.
Speaking of lightning, would a weather system be welcome in Terraria? Perhaps the lightning could bring out the magic of the land when it strikes, to compliment the magic of the sky. The resultant crystals formed by the strike would be "Fulgur", a nod towards the glass-like anomalies, fulgurites, that are formed when lightning strikes the soil. Different biomes could yield the different Fulgurs (Jungle yields Jungle Fulgur, Corruption yields Dark Fulgur, Desert yields Desert Fulgur, etc) required to make the Elements required for elemental magic. Combining Fulgurs with gems could yield Elements of varying intensity and type, like Forest, Jungle and Amethyst yielding a Weak Nature Element which yields Nature energy at a level that isn't very strong, but is still more potent than that granted by an Element crafted from Topaz (or the other way round, depending on which gem, Topaz or Amethyst, is the most common).
Just as the night brings power from the sky, so too do the thunderstorms bring power from the land, and would allow the player to shake up their magics with new elements. Some Fulgurs would be "incompatible" with each other, such as Light and Dark, whilst some energies could be overwhelmed by others, such as Light or Dark overwhelming Desert, Forest, and potentially Underground (mirroring how Hallow and Corruption can overwhelm those Biomes; it seems only Jungle, Dungeon and Underworld can resist the influences of Light and Dark, though I don't know if Corrupted/Hallowed Ocean is even possible), the lattermost biome's Fulgur only able to be "drawn out" by artificial lightning through use of the Tesla Coil, which would require Wires, a Switch, Copper and Fallen Stars, crafted at the Tinkerer's Workshop. Since Lightning never strikes in the Underworld, the Tesla Coil may also be deployed there to generate that biome's Fulgur.
On a related note, should the Ocean be susceptible to the influences of Light and Dark, yielding Corrupted/Hallowed waters?
Also also, it seems that there's often only still water in Terraria, no flowing rivers or frothing waterfalls or tossing waves, with the only true flow of water being when someone mines a block that's holding back the water. Should this be rectified?

magic could certainly be buffed, or atleast make the armor made of the same material as the melee set not have such a hefty defense penalty. 31 base compared to 50 makes a lot of difference.

Reminds me of those old school RPGs where you have a spell book and a button bound to use the spell, I wish Terraria had such a spell book so I didn't have to fill up my hotbar, but it would be hard to implement in the middle of a combat situation.
Well, what about a radial menu that one could bind spells to, bring up and flick to the spell you want (hold F, flick to top-right, select Lightning Rod)? Or make use of a hotkey system of some sort, like hold F and press 2 to prepare Lightning Rod or whatever spell you have bound to Slot 2 of the Spellbook...

It would be kind of weird because the hotbar is already using such a role, but it would be nice to for example hold a key to switch to a "magic hotbar" and another to an "ammo hotbar".
The radial menu doesn't seem like such a good idea in a 2d shooter, through.
