so to sum it all up, everyones an ass but biotic. (yeah right)
and re-logic made a promise to nearly 1 million+ people and decided to not do it.
and a ton of drama got started cause people have differing opinion and a refusal to see another persons side of it. lets just all calm down, have an orgy, and leave eachother alone.
I don't understand what kind of "end-game" people are expecting. It's half building half loot collection. I don't remember hungering for some kind of ultimate challenge in Diablo 2... I got all the best gear and that was it. In this game there's that goal, and you can also build things.
That being said, this game has so much potential for adding new content that it would feel like such a waste if it was abandoned without any modding tools or anything of that nature.
The point is, once you have hallowed gear (which requires beating all three hard mode bosses), there's nothing left to do really. There should be one last boss in hardmode to replace the wall of flesh and after you beat him just have some special event that doesn't actually change anything and leave the player to do whatever.
I might be a little more concerned about this, if it weren't for the fact that Starbound has been announced.
"I want to play with my babies! There's no way that I can continue to work on my job!"
I'm with Biotic on this one. We've all had more than our money's worth out of this game. Of course it's sad they announce this, but it doesn't surprise me they would stop working on it eventually.
And this is just my opinion, but I don't think Terraria should even have an end, really. If they could have figured out a way to increase replayability without having to add content to extend the game's life, that would have been amazing. But I know I can't think of one.
And in the end, while I've never played Dungeons of Dredmor, it is awesome to see some willing to take over. I'm curious as to what direction they will go, if they're allowed to, that is.

What I've suggested isn't even really an end, just more of a single more final boss sort of thing purely to say you conquered it and nothing more rather than just leaving us with the three hardmode bosses like they have done.

It's actually a really decent and humorous roguelike game. It has a decent art style and the gameplay itself is very well done if a bit difficult to start out on.
The Valve-esque gamer entitlement here and on the Terraria forum is fucking hilarious.

Mostly on that forum though. At least the people here complaining have valid reasons to do so.
To keep adding on to the game. And as it is, they've seemingly left the game in quite an unfinished state. It doesn't exactly have any sort of endgame whatsoever. It just kinda peters out after fighting the three hard mode bosses.
So they promise to add to the game, which they did, and you expect them to keep adding to the $10 game forever?
Saw that coming since i watched the Starbound trailer.
But it's not by themmmmmm

Maybe his baby will,as his first words, say "Keep updating oogoogaga" and in a burst of realization Red will go back to updating and release 1.2 which will be HUGE
A man can dream...
Why don't they release mod tools with steamworks support. Much like Skyrim and TF2.
I'm pretty sure Terraria sales would explode then. And the game would keep on going for a long long time.
Killing it like this is just a waste. It had so much potential.
Mod tools would be kinda awesome.
Terraria SDK? YES PLEASE.
Terraria SDK dropped due to sixth child, possibly left to community
Yes there is, but there's yet to be a reply to this.
This sucks. I hope someone does take over to give me a reason to keep playing. After getting everything it doesn't make me want to keep playing when there is nothing to look forward for.
To be honest, games like this get boring really quickly when you reach end-game. I wish someone made a system that makes items have random stats depending on what "level" you are. Rouge-like elements usually seem to make games last seemingly forever.
I hope someone takes over. I just hope they do it well, and to the same style as it is now.
So he's going to drop the huge community now and use the money we gave him to start a family?
Whatever, I'm not going to judge his ethics. He could at least give the source code away... He obviously doesn't care about the game and/or the community, so I highly doubt this.

You mean... sell a[sp]finished[/sp]product and use the money to live his life?
What a scum-sucking ingrate.
This isn't the first time Redigit abandoned a product.

He abandoned SMBX after a cease and desist letter from Nintendo. Which kinda sucks cause SMBX is the only Mario fan-game I've seen that didn't suck. Even though it wasn't perfect it actually felt like a real Mario game.

Redigit lead fans to believe that Terraria had a long future ahead of it. He described "future content." There were strong implications that 1.1 was the "first real" patch and not the "last major" patch.
I'd be fine even if it was in DLC form.
It feels unfinished to me.

Can you really blame her for ceasing work on the game so he can spend time with herfamily? It's sucky that there isn't going to be any more awesome new content but it's not like she did anything immoral by leaving the team. Besides, Starbound looks pretty damn cool from what I've seen of it and it's not like they were going to carry on with one game forever.
In my opinion it's fine. Life shit happens and if he has to he should live his life but he should of had plans for this earlier as what he wanted to do with the game.
the way i see it, terraria kinda led up to the next big thing, we've got that other game currently called cube world on the way from another dev, and we got starbound of course, which from the sound of it will be like terraria and more in a way.
