So anyone can clear this out to me? I have nice set of armor and stuff that i got from friend as "invite present" to Terraria. Now i don't know if i die (Yes, softcore. I want to relax not to be 1337) will i lose all my items? Also when does the corruption starts to spread?
Dying on softcore makes you lose half your money. Dying on mediumcore makes you drop everything you were carrying and sets your max health and mana to the defaults. Dying on hardcore turns you into a ghost until you exit the map, at which point that character is deleted.

So, as long as i will gather my money in piggy bank or something then i'm not going to lose anything if i die? Good. Still i'm somehow scared to go either into Corruption or Jungle :tinfoil:

Anyone has a website or something like that with a list of Terraria servers? I know there's many of them at Google, but some maybe be infected with viruses.
Underground Jungle is a place that is tough as nails. It's like jumping into a blender that was grown out of wood like a tree, even with Shadowscale on. I doubt Hell's gonna let up much either, but damnit I need that Hellstone guff to reach easymode's max-tier. I wanna be as prepared as possible to tear down the meaty drapes that are the Wall of Flesh. Also, d'you think we should be able to make doors out of iron, make them harder to break down? Also, perhaps hardmode could make it so that Goblin Theives can actually steal items unless you lock the chests (or would that be too heart-breaky)? It'd give you a reason to beef up your security if there were actual threats to your loots an' moolah. Also, one last thought: Familiars. Familiars could be friendly mobs that you summon using a magical item, similar to the Orb of Light or that Fairy thing, except the Familiars actually perform different functions, be it attacking a nearby enemy, giving you health or mana when you're low, picking up items when you're out of inventory space, etc. And yes, even though I initially thought of Familiars when I thought of the Orb of Light, I did think about the Familiars from Symphony of the Night. Anyways, some could be found, whilst others could be crafted using various resources, as well as some Souls of Flight (a Familiar that can't fly would be kinda useless in a world with precipitous drops and yawning chasms). For example, combine the Bunny Hood with some Meteorite/Hellstone and Souls of Flight, and you'd get Max, the evil floating rabbit head (who's also a reference to a classic franchise of crime-fighting comics and adventure games) that shoots fireballs at enemies. That example would probably require some permission and verification from Telltale and Steve Purcell, but it'd be cool nonetheless.
I probably just suck but I can't do hardmode for shit. Most of the mobs I can deal with, but the bosses just destroy me no matter how hard I try or what I do. On my absolute best run I got one of the eyes to change to it's second form and it just stomped all over my shit and killed me. I have adamantite armour and I even got a megashark from a friend who had a spare, but it just seems too damn hard!

He's the easiest of the three, and his souls are useful for lots of shit. Mainly Excalibur, Megashark, Hallowed Chestplate and Light Discs. Also, it's important to use the Adamantite helmet, not Mask or Headgear, as they do not provide as much protection. Basically, full Adamantite Armour and a Phasesaber. Phasesabers are the best weapon for it until you craft Excalibur. Ironskin/Regen potions are a must.
My 2 friends boosted me up to Full Molten armor and gear, all softcore bosses, emptied out the entire dungeon - in other words; we finished softcore in less than 9 hours and for them it was their first time too. We killed WoF before we all stopped for that night. The reason why they did that was because I had lost all my singleplayer progress and I really didn't feel like doing all that again on my own. Then we discovered that one of them could host a server that had close to singleplayer latency for me even though he lives in america! It's cool when you have friends who'd do that for you.
Dao of Pow would probably be a better weapon.
Good point.
Someone that can host to teach me more advanced things? I got a loom, and that's really about as far as I got.
I think we've got a wiki, and that teaches us plenty.

If there's a Goblin Scout, if you kill it does it still mean that there's a goblin army approaching soon?
Goblin Scouts are normal monsters, except they spawn near the ends of the map. They have nothing to do with the army.
If there's a Goblin Scout, if you kill it does it still mean that there's a goblin army approaching soon?
Scouts aren't indicative of armies. You get cloth from them that creates a spawner for the army. I think that there should be a new type of starting difficulty: Ultrahardcore. Basically, hardcore and you start on hardmode. So you're basically playing hardmode with start-tier gear and no base.
It'd probably just be better to unlock an option to start your new world in hard mode after the first time you've unlocked hard mode. Your ultra hardcore mode would be pretty much impossible since you'd likely be one-shotted by any enemy you encounter.
Tried playing terraria and it says it's currently unavailable at this time. WTF steam? Any ideas?

So, me and my friend hit hardmode last night. Turns out our house is near a floating island, because as soon as we returned to the base, it was wyvern after wyvern. We are in the process of upgrading from a simple shack to our first real castle-esque base, and now we'll have to clean up tons and tons of gravestones. As soon as one of us would respawn after dying, the damn thing would fly in, ignoring everything, killing us as soon as we appear. As horribly frustrating as it sounds, it was probably the most fun we had all night. Also, WoF wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. We did it, decked out with molten armor, I used the molten bow, can't remember the name, and she used some kind of molten gun she upgraded. We'd switch to our fiery greatswords if one of the weird tentacle things got too close, but it really wasn't bad. Doesn't help the the guide keeps walking through, opening doors. I buried him under the house.

That window in the upper right has a great view. :v:
Tried playing terraria and it says it's currently unavailable at this time. WTF steam? Any ideas?
I had this after the last mini update, validate your files, it should find one file that's corrupted.
or, you know, you could start a hardcore character on a hardmode world
Impossible. You can't specifically pick a world to be hardmode at generation.
Since i was with there and gave some blocks to you can you tell me when did that troll left? I think he will miss that harpoon.
Right after you left, he gave me an imp statue for some reason. I also realize I forgot to remove a tiki torch.
Impossible. You can't specifically pick a world to be hardmode at generation.
You do realize worlds aren't tied to specific characters right? You could use an existing character and go activate hard mode then generate a new character to play on your new hard mode world.
You do realize worlds aren't tied to specific characters right? You could use an existing character and go activate hard mode then generate a new character to play on your new hard mode world.
But that still means you've got progress made in that world. A base maybe made, structures made to make travel easier, and an arena most likely pre-built to make the fight with WoF faster.
