How long does the alpha discount last?
I know this has been asked before, but what exactly did I need to do to get arma 2 stuff working in arma 3 alpha? Help would be appreciated.
How long does the alpha discount last?
Until beta, where the price goes up a little, then it'll be full price at release.
you need yaw for precise aiming and it helps with turning
It helps with finetuning your flight, but is barely useful when flying at high speeds which is what I was talking about. It's useful for doing a horizontal sweep while doing a gun run by holding rudder to all the way left, aiming for the left part of the group of hostiles you're trying to hit and then hitting all the way right on the rudder. Useful if you're not capable of doing a sweep that would let you fire in enfilade.
wait since the Russians are on independant, wouldn't that mean you could wear BLUFOR and OPFOR uniforms? gonna try this shit out now
Apparently not.
How would I go about making an alarm go off when the player is spotted in the editor. Been trying most of the thing suggested for Arma 2 but none of it seems to work.
make a trigger about the size you want it, set to go off if blufor detects opfor (or whatever) at the bottom click effects at one of the dropdown menus (i think it's "trigger") click "alarm" when x spots y in location z, alarm will sound

Didn't work :(
Why are the airport guards so braindead in "Escape from Stratis" I just drove down the main road into the airport by myself and got in a helicopter, and they didn't start shooting until I was already flying away to pick up my teammates.

People having issues with "fillCrate.sqf" Make sure that you're not putting it in steam\arma 3\missions folder. When you create a mission in the editor and save it, a folder is created in documents \arma 3 alpha\missions. In that folder is where you put the fillCrate.sqf When youre done editing your mission, ctrl+shift+s and export to multiplayer and then host a server.
Having some fun. Have a blooper:
My experience with Arma 3 Alpha. My got got stuck twitching all over the place. After I stopped recording, I went to find my ai team mates and they were doing the same thing
How do you do that stuff? Also is there a way to make my Helicopter go faster with Auto-Hover off?

Would it be possible to port everon island from arma cold war assault? That would be awesome. I tried to add some everon island mods which are for Arma 2 but it didn't work for Arma 3.
Well, I know we're all playing ArmA III, but here are some screenies from 16AAs i44 standalone op from last night. Don't know why, but ever since I updated my drivers a few days back, I've been getting weird rendering issues.
How do you do that stuff? Also is there a way to make my Helicopter go faster with Auto-Hover off?
What do you mean ? It's cyclic forward and collective raise, pretty standard heli controls. Also, please don't fly with auto hover people, auto hover is for hovering, not flying, nor landing or anything other than hovering.
How do you do that stuff? Also is there a way to make my Helicopter go faster with Auto-Hover off?
Point the nose down? Maybe not the best advice as I crashed a helicopter with 6 of us in yesterday.
I think I've found my favorite thing about this game, the helicopters. I really want to get a joystick now.
The Armory mode in this one is going to be absolutely amazing, I can already tell it. They are bringing Armory mode back, right?
First thing I tried. Didn't work :(
that's odd, worked fine for me but i was having a ton of trouble with end conditions, so maybe the editor is just alpha'd mission making can be stressful you should take a moment to relax
I think I've found my favorite thing about this game, the helicopters. I really want to get a joystick now.
If it's anything like in ArmA 2, no, you don't. I think I'll test my joystick today on A3 to check if they made it any better. In A2, the helicopter and jet controls with joystick were quite abysmal and unresponsive.
also, i made a mission too http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=18849
For my end conditions I usually set up the condition, go to effects TEXT -> BLACK OUT -> "YOU WON BLA BLA" and in the on activation field i write
0 = 0 spawn {sleep 6; endMission "END1"}
Gives a nice black out effect and ends the mission.
Anyone playing in fullscreen windowed? Do you have taskbar visible? I have taskbar at top and Arma3 is offset by the taskbar and I can't see around 60 pixels from the bottom because of it. [editline]7th March 2013[/editline]
that's odd, worked fine for me but i was having a ton of trouble with end conditions, so maybe the editor is just alpha'd mission making can be stressful you should take a moment to relax
I think your aspect ratio is wrong.
What do you mean ? It's cyclic forward and collective raise, pretty standard heli controls. Also, please don't fly with auto hover people, auto hover is for hovering, not flying, nor landing or anything other than hovering.
You should learn to fly without Auto Hover period. Only use it when you want to check your map or something and you've got some mountains around you. I see so many people go Okay here's where we're landing but I'm still going 180kph, Time to hit auto hover to slow us down and bring us down nice and soft. Then the helicopter shoots straight up the air hundreds of meters to bleed off the speed as fast as it can and it just begs to be shot by anything and everyone
How do you do that stuff? Also is there a way to make my Helicopter go faster with Auto-Hover off?
The rotors on a helicopter don't spin faster the more throttle you give it, It's why it's called a collective instead of a throttle. It only changes the angles of the blades so they catch more, or less air, providing more lift or less. So you give it some collective so it's grabbing more air, then pitch the nose forward. Now you're being pulled off the ground, and towards your front. If your helicopters gets too low, give it more collective, which will speed you up since your nose is pitched down a bit, or pull the nose back up some. Think of it like flying a vertical lander on the Mun in Kerbal, only instead of thrust pushing you, it's pulling you To slow down, lower the collective (Throttle down) and pull the nose up. You don't have the lift the rotors were providing like you did when you were truckin' along, so you'll lose altitude, to counter it you pitch up, and this causes you to slow down. The slower you get the more collective you'll want to give it to avoid hitting the ground Auto Hover is bad, don't touch it ever unless it's absolutely necessary that the helicopter remain perfectly stationary in the air (Such as hovering so your gunner can designate and kill a target, and you don't want to make the minor corrections to keep it steady yourself)

I have to use S to slow down and I don't know if I am near the ground and I keep going forward taking me away from the location of landing.
Try using your mouse You have a speed and altimeter in the upper left, use them. Starting slowing down before you reach your destination. Use your alt to look around, makes it easier to see how close you are to the ground.
It keeps going up and down at the front.
Auto Hover is on, don't fly with auto hover, it's not meant for that.
that's odd, worked fine for me but i was having a ton of trouble with end conditions, so maybe the editor is just alpha'd mission making can be stressful you should take a moment to relax
I've already had my relaxation:
Arma 3 - Chilling Simulator [t]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/577857153388879691/6727F8D196C83D6E80D0AE8CAA7E5AF86C90A5B3/[/t]
Can you take a screenshot of your trigger set up if it works for you, I really need the alarm for the scenario I'm making :v:
Auto Hover is on, don't fly with auto hover, it's not meant for that.
It's meant for take-off and landing. Also hovering.
