I still can't get the goddamn game to start. tried admin mode, winxp mode, update drivers, update java (don't know why that would fix but meh), manually reinstalled the directX, a whole bunch of shit. Nothing works.
Do you get no error?
Do you get no error?
Nothing. I hit play, steam starts launching, and then I get arma 3 alpha has stopped working. Do you want the technobabble from more info, maybe?
I want an tdm mission with pistols as main weapons since they are so amazing in arma 3.
Yeah, the pistols are really satisfying.
I want an tdm mission with pistols as main weapons since they are so amazing in arma 3.
They're actually quite weak, we were playing some TDM mission, me and one other guy decided to go all naked with pistols only, we ran up to some guy, both started firing at him and he just killed us both.
Are there servers situated in Asia?

Some people have issues running it at all, others are getting performance problems, the only bugs I've had were multiplayer servers giving me 0.1 FPS.
Just bought Arma 3
i3 3.2 ghz runs like a dream lmao i got a space age graphics card though
Nothing. I hit play, steam starts launching, and then I get arma 3 alpha has stopped working. Uninstalling (changing any number of settings doesnt seem to work) zonealarm allowed arma 3 to run for me and some other folk

About the same as A2, except this time around the pistols have much less recoil. That said, Arma has always had terrible PVP. The server may have decided to not record any of your shots that would have hit which is especially bad for pistols which are weaker than rifles, most of which kill with a single shot to the chest at anything less than medium range.
i3 3.2 ghz runs like a dream lmao i got a space age graphics card though
it works really well on some graphics cards really shit on some which is the exact thing 90% of alphas have
wait are the still issues with low end systems getting awesome fps and high end getting shit fps?
I found shooting someone in the legs as a Marksman usually ends in a one shot kill. Not sure why. Or at-least they drop to the floor. [editline]6th March 2013[/editline] Which I suppose makes sense... Not death but falling. [editline]6th March 2013[/editline] Unless they are dead, in which case I'm confused.
Hitting the femoral artery results in bleeding out to death at a rapid rate.
wait are the still issues with low end systems getting awesome fps and high end getting shit fps?
It's most likely just us high end users trying to run everything on max on highly populated mp servers.
Someone should port Wake Island to Arma 3 if possible.
It's most likely just us high end users trying to run everything on max on highly populated mp servers.
im playing on single player with 16 gigs of ram and i7 2600k and a 7970 on very high right now and the moment i use my scope or look at foilage i go down to like 13 fps
the infamous latency issues were fixed in a patch for arma 2 unless they are now back, units dont warp nearly as much anymore and things are overall more predictable also the pistols in arma 2 have extreme "cone" meaning the bullet will go fucking everywhere. also they are weak
Problem is other people will still see you in places where you are not. You can get caught on walls on their screen, but on yours, be 100 meters away from where you are. It's ruled by the clientside and the amount of packet loss is greater than most other games. The beta patch only solved warping, but unfortunately, it didn't fix the netcode of the game when it comes to client/server syncing. So you might be in a house aiming out of a window on your screen, but on theirs, standing in the middle of a road. Likewise, you might get shot by someone who wasn't even looking at you- or at least, where your client thought you were. Pistols in Arma 2 surprisingly enough didn't have much cone, it's just that they had 1) a lot of recoil and 2) a lot of drop. Even at close range you had to hit someone four times with a 9mm, I think it was 2 or 3 with a .45, both in vanilla and in ACE. Some pals and I have done it lots of times at ranges up to 70 meters after I either ran out of ammo or our weapons disappeared. It takes a lot of practice, but pistols are definitely worth it to learn how to use properly. They're really irritating to use that far away but if you can use them far off you can use them up close too.

Jesus christ this is the funniest thing i've seen all week
I have played over a hour of singleplayer so far. It runs surprisingly well on my 6 years old desktop and I expect it running even better on my laptop. Autodetected draw distance and most quality settings on high.
Anyone else getting problems in multiplayer where they can't pick a slot? And then it disconnects, ohgod.
One of my favourite features is the fact that the smoke changes direction if there's a chopper over it, I don't think it used to do that in ARMA 2. Also, flying is simpler, more natural now. Though I'm pretty sure if I did a loop with a chopper 150 meters over the ground I would crash.
Just bought it and installing now, this hopefully has been worth the £20.
Soo.. Is this actually a sim like game now or is it a combat sim like arma 2?
What do you mean?

I also crashed into the ground at about 120 km/h and survived. But as soon as I hit 2 civilians, the chopper got disabled :v:
i5 2500k GTX670 6GB DDR3 40 fps average on high-ultra, can't go over 45 no matter the settings (even resolution) for some reason. Also jumping into a helicopter means a good 20 fps drop. Guessing performance will increase a lot by release, but I doubt I'll be able to max it at 60fps. Movement is so much better now, it actually feels like a human being now.
Soo..
