If I wouldn't lag so much I would've considered playing multiplayer. Fuck 30fps.
i would kill for 30 fps in single
Pistols do have lots of cone, it's an acknowgledged bug. infact even grenade launchers have a lower dispersion value than the pistols!
Acknowledged by who, you? I'd like sources. I don't mean to accuse you of lying but I've played many hours both in vanilla and in ACE and I've been able to hit my mark with pistols both vs Veteran AI and other players. If the problem is "ironsights moving too much" then don't sprint, it's only a little faster than jogging and after a few seconds of sprinting you end up jogging anyway. Shaky ironsights = you miss with any weapon. It is a strategy game and so you should spend more time thinking than moving.
i would kill for 30 fps in single
I play much old games so having low FPS disturbs me. Still, hoping for better optimization when it goes out of alpha. It's ~58FPS in singleplayer, on standard :v:
How is the AI in ArmA 3 in relation to ArmA2? Is it still kind of unpredictable how smart and tactical they are, like in ArmA 2? I just finished playing a few scenarios in 2, and it seems like one day the AI are smart and resourceful, and then another day every group of enemy infantry is guided by Gods glistening golden prick of destiny. Also, my squad is generally erratic, unresponsive, refuses to take my word that the enemy soldiers are dead until they hear the opinion of one of their own, and will death-charge into enemy fire. It's kind of fun, would be a let down if they took those qualities out of my men.
Dynamic Zombie Sandbox has been ported to ArmA3, and I heard Wasteland is also already up. [editline]6th March 2013[/editline] I can't wait to run around in my underwear stealing cars!
The game seems to have been optimized a great while anyway though, as my cards can handle Ultra without major lag, while it had a lot of problems with ArmA 2. There might be a few settings I haven't set on full, but it's still a lot better.
Turns out I haven't updated my drivers since January 17th, 2012. That mighhhttt be why I'm getting low FPS.
Something like this
if (!isDedicated) then { while {true} do { waitUntil {alive player}; _pos = getPosATL player; for "_i" from 0 to 21 do { sleep 1; if ((player distance _pos) > 7) exitWith {}; if (_i == 20) exitWith {player setDamage 1}; }; }; };

awesome, thanks

Man I am terrible at this. I don't want to play MP until I'm sure I won't fuck things up for everyone else. At least the game runs well though.
The teamwork aspect of Wasteland disappeared when the DayZ people started coming on. I remember first playing last year, there were tons of teamwork.
I don't want to be that guy, but I can't wait until standalone comes out. It's going to be better for everyone when the DayZ community disconnects from the ArmA one.
https://dev-heaven.net/issues/16115# there u go
This isn't a proper source, it's just some guy with no proof that pistols have "too high shot dispersion." He has a line or two of code from the game quoted, but that's good for absolutely nothing. Numbers are worthless when they have nothing to back them up, just like I made a video for you including 4 pistols and shot them at four men standing between 60 and 65 meters away: Makarov (standard for Taki/RU), M9 (standard for US), the USP tactical (common choice among players), and the P226 (my personal favorite.) No mods other than ACE used, range proved in the video. Your "source" is thus disproved totally. The guy says he can't hit/kill anything at 30 meters? I did just fine at double that. He's probably not using ironsights or is an even worse shot than I am. The thumbnail should speak for itself: First kill: six shots, M9. Either four or three hits, not sure. Second kill: two shots, M9. Both hit. Third kill: three shots, USP45. Either two or three hits, not sure. Fourth kill: two shots, Makarov. Both hit. Four shots, P226. Three hit. Of a total of 17 shots, I hit 12. That is 70% accuracy at 60-65 meters. I don't think anything else needs to be said. I hate doing this kind of thing in a thread about a game (my favorite game easily) but at least it came with content and truth about the game's mechanics!
UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH CAN'T PLAY ONE GOD DAMN ROUND OF ANYTHING WITHOUT IT CRASHING. I AM BECOMING ANGRY. Fucking get within 400m of enemy squad, and the game just fucking crashes. For FUCK sake. I am fucking irritated beyond belief right now

If you actually read the whole thing you would have noticed that ACE has fixed the issue by lowering the dispersion values to correct numbers. How is the source code not proof? The values are clearly given as dispersions. It's much better proof than a video where you're not even running the vanilla game.
Everything on ultra, running like a dream with constant +60 fps, this is fucking awesome!

He's talking about vanilla ArmA, not everyone uses ACE.
Cards?! What cards do you have?
I use two GTX 560 Ti's in SLi, they really struggled with ArmA 2 on high though.
Everything on ultra, running like a dream with constant +60 fps, this is fucking awesome!
WHAT FUCKING SPECS DO YOU HAVE IS IT 24 TITAN CARDS AND 5TB OF RAM?
I use two GTX 560 Ti's in SLi, they really struggled with ArmA 2 on high though.
You think a 670 will get the same performance?
O ye.
You think a 670 will get the same performance?
i am having some SLAMMIN' issues with my 670! I have to go low/medium! It's crazy!
O ye.
march 14th birthday master race?
Ever consider that ACE edited the values? He's talking about vanilla ArmA, not everyone uses ACE.
I did what I said I did all along, so there's no foul play here. I'm loading up vanilla A2 real quick to record myself doing the same shoot (at least as close as I can get, since I didn't save the mission): 60 meters with the M9 and Makarov, as the USP and P226 aren't in vanilla. Maybe memory serves me wrong, maybe it doesn't. e: Also this might take a minute. Not sure where the rangefinder is located in the ammo boxes.
Why do I get about 25% better performance if I ramp up the AA to 8x?
i am having some SLAMMIN' issues with my 670! I have to go low/medium! It's crazy!
I have the same issue with my 560Ti. Can't be that, though. Hopefully it's just some alpha issues. [editline]6th March 2013[/editline] What performance do you get in other games, and what are your complete specs?
If you read my post you would have noticed I mentioned ACE, and did so for a reason.
Um, ok? What is the reason? You wanted to show us all that ACE has indeed fixed the issue that exists in the vanilla game like the "not proper" bug report said? You said that his source was disproven by your video even though the source clearly says that the issue has been fixed in ACE. Also that's not how you test for dispersion. Put a target up where you can see where the bullets landed and then aim the same spot every time and go see where the bullet holes are.
