Oh wow! Looks amazing Dwarden.
Who exactly will get access to this community alpha though?
Processor: Intel Core i5 or AMD Athlon Phenom X4 or faster
Video card: Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 or ATI Radeon HD 5770 with Shader Model 3 and 896 MB VRAM, or faster
My Intel Celeron 2,66 ghz single core processor and geforce 6600 gt 256 mb are crying from that...
I'm stuck with the good old ArmA 1
Blog about new animations:

Looks really good, animations and sound rehauled now..
oohh yeah, I heard it'll run a lot smoother than ArmA II and even OA!
Damn I love BIS.
Oh shit in 6 days the complete trailer will be released.
DAYUMMMNNNNN DOOOOOGGGGGG.
It's the new ARMA III, rumoured to be an improvement...but will it CRASH?
I hope it's even more optimised this time round. The immense performance hit was a turn down for ARMA II.
EDIT: Just saw the Stratis Teaser. If this game runs well for me, I might just think about forgiving them for ARMA II.

Arma 2 seemed perfectly well optimised to me. It was a great game and there isn't really anything to "forgive" them for when they did nothing wrong in my eyes.
If Arma 3 has as big of a jump in awesome features and Arma 2 did from Arma 1 then it will defiantly be game of the year.

Hmm...maybe it was just me having those performance issues?

No, ArmA 2 is definitely very taxing on a computer and is definitely not very optimized.
However, what I think BIS are trying to do with ArmA 3 is to fix all of the very ugly aesthetic choices in ArmA 2 while making it run better than ArmA 2.
I hope indoor areas are easier to navigate and that AI wont just clip through walls.
so, how you like fresh ARMA 3 video about new island?

and new info http://www.arma3.com/arma-3-overview/stratis/
note: lot of hidden feature hints there ;)

Very cool.
Dat water
hey Dwarden you probably answered this question a hundred times, but how optimized is Arma 3? will a gtx295 run it fine? or will it run as bad as Arma 2 on a good day?
also the island in that pic looks small, smaller then it should even when it's said it's gonna be bigger then any map in Arma 2 and with hardly any towns, is that a early version of the island?
i cant wait to play Arma 3 when it's released, defo dayone buy from me
I'm pretty sure that's the small island. Every ARMA game has had a separate small island on top of the big one (Rahmadi in ARMA, Utes in ARMA 2). The big one is Limnos.
holy shit for real? well that clears that up, but how big is this small island? i can see it's bigger then utes which is about 1-3km i think
That looks amazing, Dwarden. Best of luck on further development, it looks excellent. Thanks for keeping us up to date :)

I think I read something earlier that said 25 sq km

Yup, says that on the page Dwarden linked also. Limnos is almost 300 km2.
I cried manly tears at that trailer. The seamless and realistic transition for standing to crouch and then that scene with the helicopter was amazing.
Can't wait to play this.
