holy shit for real? well that clears that up, but how big is this small island? i can see it's bigger then utes which is about 1-3km i think
Website says that Stratis is 19 square kilometers.
Today we announce the inclusion of an additional island in Arma 3. Situated in the North Aegean and stretching over 19 square kilometres, Stratis adds geographical variety and expands the game’s massive military sandbox. The reveal is supported by a brand new trailer, screenshots and info on the Community Alpha!
This might sound silly but I think ARMA 3 should include basic real life navigation skills, such as how to find a city or get your bearings based on real life navigation methods, no GPS, just a map and some know-how.
Learning and having fun!

And survival skills maybe? I know it's a war based simulator but it could be good.
i do that all the time in regular ARMA 2
i barely know the map but i can usually find where i am

That says it's OVER 19 km2. This is from ARMA 3 page also:
Approximately 30 km south west of the shores of Limnos, Stratis is a dry, hilly island with an area of 25 square kilometres situated in North Aegean (39°31’8″N, 25° 0’24″ E).
By the time my PC can run this game the graphics will be out-dated (just like with ArmA II).
count decent 3D gaming capable DX11 card with 1GB VRAM as minimum ... don't look at anything slower or lower
Dreamt I was playing the alpha last night. It was amazing but was very sad when I woke up a realised it was all just a dream. I was working with the CIA to take down some guerilla fighters on Stratis.
Looks incredible.
I hope my GTX 675M can run this.

Minimum? You make it sound like my HD5870 will barely run it on low :(. Time to move on to a 7970/gtx 680 soon.
It says on Bohemia's website that you need :
System requirements
Operating system: Windows 7 / Vista
Processor: Intel Core i5 or AMD Athlon Phenom X4 or faster
Memory: 2 GB
Video card: Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 or ATI Radeon HD 5770 with Shader Model 3 and 896 MB VRAM, or faster
DVD: Dual Layer compatible
Hard disk: 15 GB free space
Other: DirectX® 10
Not sure how accurate that is though.
The thing I'm most hyped about this game is customizable gear, new animations, better graphics and physics

outdated, tho atm. it's considered that DX10 cards may run the game ;)
Would those specs be considered as minimum or recommended?
Would those specs be considered as minimum or recommended?
As Dwarden said they are outdated requirements. But if I had to guess they would probably be below recommended and maybe even below minimum.
speculations are lovely :)

Dwarden, what budget card d'you reckon would be good for this game?
I cannot wait for this game, argh.

It's not going to but it's not their fault that the hardware community is still dragged behind because of shit like the consoles, dumb as it sounds it's true.
At the time I had to scrounge and save and work my ass off to get a rig capable of running Arma II, and it was totally worth it.
I'd do the same for Arma III without question.
check my twitter <<<< in case You missed the bonus ARMA 3 facebook picture :)
I'm throwing money at my screen, but nothing is happening...
I cant wait for this. Arma 2 was such a great game but i didnt play it much because i didnt enjoy the bugs and the laggy AI on the multiplayer and im not going to install a bunch of mods to fix that.
Yeah, hopefully this game has better optimization. I really don't plan on upgrading anytime soon.
But this is probably my most anticipated upcoming game to be honest. It looks like they've made a lot of improvements; really looking forward to it.
I am now super excited for Arma 3.
(talking about the speculative video) Hey wait a minute, vegetation has ALWAYS been very detailed since ArmA 2 onwards. Linda is an incredible vegetation tool, and it produces such awesome looking plants.

check the gallery.
I'm dying to see the lighting and shading improvements in ArmA 3, as well as the character improvements. You spend ALL of your time using characters after all, it's good to see they focused on characters this time around.
