imo it shold be disabled by default and if the mission can utilize it, then enable it. imagine how many blue on blue incidents you'd have with that on per default
Then you don't play dressup with the dead enemy's clothes ? making the game foolproof because "some guy might do it" is really silly, there should an option to disable it for that particular unit, not the other way around.

this too
it wouldn't work in public games lol
my guess is that most mission makers will turn it off anyway
I just hope I can shoot a civilian, get his clothes and just wear all my gear with the civilian clothes.
I'm excited for ArmA3, but BIS seems to be trying to push a schedule instead of go for the quality and stability that they originally intended. I say this because they ditched the 3D editor because of quote "time constraints" yet there is a fully working version in ArmA2, do they not have any programmers or something? The particle system is almost exactly the same, some of the particle effects date back to ArmA1.. They also ditched JVM support, looks like SQF is here to stay.. which kind of sucks I was hoping that would mean easier and more optimized ways of handling shit instead of using the limited to fuck and ugly language known as SQF. I'm not even sure if the attachment system is actually done correctly or if they just made a hundred different models per gun.
All together ArmA3 doesent look like much more then better graphics and general physics plus Arrowhead combined with future and some general improvements which was kind of sad because one of the main things I was hoping for was realistic MLRS/rocket and artillery lighting.. the shit that lights up half the sky when going off or looks like it gets sucked into the sky by clouds.
Does anyone know how the medic system will work in Arma 3? I wouldn't mind something abit more immersive than the magic medic you get by stock at the moment.
It will probably be magic medic

The 3D editor wasn't exactly "fully working" in ARMA II, and from what I understand they aren't removing it but the release version won't have it all fixed up and made nice. There's still a good chance it will be added in a patch sometime down the line.
Where did you hear that Java was being ditched? I'll be pretty disappointed if this is true.
The attachment system has been recently confirmed by a BI developer to be pretty much exactly the way everyone was hoping, although it seems weapons with grenade launchers or different barrel length still have to be made into separate weapons. The community manager said "do not expect JVM in ArmA3, we need to support all languages but trouble is doing it right".
When suggested to do single language instead of supporting all JVM's he replied "not enough time".
3D editor is being scrapped entirely if I understand what they said, which is why people are pissed off.

i literally can't find anything about them dropping java support, or anything related to it, could you provide a link
don't really care about the 3d editor since it is awful to work with. the 3d editor addons that exist are much easier to work with if you get them running

it has been revamped but i haven't seen any more details than that.

Hopefully it'll be abit more in-depth like the ACE modules

I asked their community manager, he said don't expect it in arma 3.
But didn't Take On Helicopters already support Java? That would mean the framework for it is already there. And it's still listed as a feature here:

Although I realise that OP is maintained by a community member and not a BI employee.
I just think if they were doing something as major as dropping their new scripting method, they would mention it in a more obvious way than an offhand comment from someone who's not directly involved with development.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. The community alpha should be rolling around in the coming weeks.
Eh, while the source may be unreliable its about as much we there is as far as sources.
Sorry for the bump but I heard that the Community Alpha was going to be released after GamesCom, so we can expect it very soon!
So ArmA3 is supposed to be released sometime in the next 2 months.
Anyone know if its been delayed or anything because of two of the developers being arrested?

I thought they said we can expect it early next year?

Woo! Updates!
4 months of nothing until now.
I'm considering the Supporter Edition of Arma 3.
if you're going to get this, there's no reason not to get the alpha edition since it comes with alpha, beta and the full game, for half the price of the final product... stoked for alpha next week.
kinda wish the map was a physical one, but oh well
And the website is struggling.
And the website is struggling.
Yep, I can't load anything.
I'm so pumped for this.
Can we expect something like ACRE being a part of ArmA 3?
