I hope they do artillery like in ACE where you have to get the Deflection, Elevation, Grid, ect like with the BCS. I though that was really good at immersion because the Artillery Computer was kinda cheap since it did everything for you.
Can we expect something like ACRE being a part of ArmA 3?
Probably not.
Loved ArmA 2. Totally gonna buy this next week.

I think it's safe to say that most of the mods will be eventually made for Arma 3. Who knows, maybe directional audio and radios will be in the game.

Arma 2 already sort of had directional audio, there was that direct channel talk thing that made only people around you hear you. Only the voice chat in arma 2 wasn't in very good quality.

They beefed it up quite a bit in a beta patch awhile back. Its way better.

Do you guys think my processor will be okay?

Probably for uncrowded missions, but for a mission like Warfare BE it wouldn't run that well from experience. I used to have that same CPU.
I'll roll with it. I wasn't planning on maxing it out anywho.
So this is going to be the "Future" of warfare, When Arma 2 was mostly current technology?
I am so fucking happy with the better physics though, Arma 2 was clunky as shit.

Not really, they basically made fancy looking characters and mostly current looking vehicles of random origin, from what has been shown to us. I think they should have kept it current, but I guess that is what mods are for.
Arma 3 is 'near' future, everything will feel like modern, but not quite. They're using concept designs and designs that are currently in prototype. Plus they're using a helicopter that was never even mass produced. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing/Sikorsky_RAH-66_Comanche
I'm excited for the modding and mission creating. Hoping for a lot more content in the future as well as playing more missions with my friends since it'll be a bit easier now.

Which weapons in prototype are you referring to? The vast majority of things shown to us are already here. The Comanche was cancelled in 2004. Most of the 'future' things were made up by BIS or inspired by something else.
Probably not.
Why do you say this?
Why do you say this?
it won't be a part of A3 (officially) but will be ported to A3.
A3 will probably use the A2 VON voice chat thingy.

Oh well, of course. I thought he meant we wont see ACRE being brought to A3 ever.
The great thing about this Alpha is it already opens it up for modding so all the essential mods from ARMA 2 will have been ported before release.
The amount of playability ACE + ACRE add to the game is astounding.

Naw he was asking if they would integrate it into arma.

most of the shit from the screenshots i've seen is like <2011 going off of their gear, it honestly looks pretty ~~~modern special forces~~~ inspired
hnngngg i want it soooo baddd, then i want ACE for it to complete my desires.

I'd be fucking thrilled if they made artillery easier to use.
It would be nice to be able to put it somewhere on the map, and be able to call it with maps or laze targets and have the artillery get called in.
It would be way easier than doing it via scripting. I did that once, and it sucked shit. But it definitely was cool trying to take a massive town after watching it get crushed with artillery.
You can already do that though. Just link the artillery units to your group and you get a "Shoot here" option when you select them from the squad leader UI, and you can target either in the world or from the map.
It's an OA feature, so it won't work in base A2.
I know there's plenty of conversion mods like Unsung and Invasion 1944, but it'd be cool to see content relating to British occupation of Ireland; IRA and whatnot. Create a new island and some units/vehicles/weapons. It'd be interesting to say the least.

Would take a long ass time.

Yeah I know, it's definitely hard work. For some reason the idea just popped in my head and thought it would be pretty cool and original.
Do you guys think I'll be able to run it decent(I know my graphics card is recommended):
Processor: Intel i7-2630QM, 2.0GHz(4 core/8thread(edited))
Memory/ram: 12288MB RAM(12GB)
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M(3GB Video Memory)
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Maybe.
[editline]26th February 2013[/editline]
Well, you should be able to.. the clock speed might draw you down but other then that it should be fine. It is a 4 core CPU, not a 8 core. You have 8 threads not 8 cores.

Comanche was only cancelled because it needed upgrades to deal with modern AA systems, among other things.
Easy explanation for its use would be that Boeing-Sikhorsky decided to upgrade it and re-pitch it to the Army.
This is my computer

should I bother?
