You can already do that though. Just link the artillery units to your group and you get a "Shoot here" option when you select them from the squad leader UI, and you can target either in the world or from the map. It's an OA feature, so it won't work in base A2.
Hmm, i didn't know that. I'll have to give that a shot sometime. I haven't played ARMAII in forever.
I misread, at first I thought the recommended said GTX 560, not GTS 560; what's the difference in the two? I have the GTX 560(3GB VMemory)
What is a GTS 560, is that a typo? I can't find any specs on a GTS 560.
What is a GTS 560, is that a typo? I can't find any specs on a GTS 560.
Pretty sure the GTS cards are OEM versions of the cards. Anyways a GTX is better or the same, so that'll work just fine
Ah thanks, I was a little confused since I couldn't even find a 560 version of it on their site.
Do pre-orders end March 5th? Can we pre-order on Steam on March 5th or what? Or do I just pre-order on the site to get Steam version?
Do pre-orders end March 5th? Can we pre-order on Steam on March 5th or what? Or do I just pre-order on the site to get Steam version?
Pre-orders start on march 5th

Uh, sorry to derail, but what's up with all the other threads closing?
New page limit I believe, not too sure. Instantly when I posted in the Xcom one, it closed instantly(100 pages). Edit: Wait a second, dark souls closed at 26 pages?? What the heck.
Rogue Mod, perhaps? Just can't trust anybody on the internet these days!
No one can even know what the megathread lock limit is at right now, first garry said they'll lock when they reach a certain page, then he said they'll lock every month, but then some didn't get locked at either so I don't even know what it is now.
What's even the point of doing that? Don't fix what's not broken.
Guys let's get back on topic.
A lot of people posting their specs which are above the recommended specs they detailed seem to think ARMA 3 is going to be as unoptimized as ARMA 2. I'm pretty sure they will have learnt their lesson now right? . . . . ...right?
I remember the System Requirements used to be super ridiculous. Like the highest in video gaming history to this point. I think that they've must have optimized it much better for them to have lowered it to that point.

They also hinted that it was further optimized so really, if you could barely play Arma 2, you'll be able to modestly play Arma 3

I hope they made it scale properly on multicore systems, like AMD's new line of processors. But on the one hand I'm hopeful then on the other hand RV4 is a development of RV3.
If you guys are uncertain about your system running the game I suggest you wait on March 5 and ask around for an Alpha Lite invite to test the game out on your system (though you should be getting reports on how well it handles from us on March 5 anyways). Also god damnit the other megathread just died.
I do hope that graphically, the game is more optimized. I have two 7950s and a 3570k yet I only get 60fps once I have reduced the AA and shadows. Here's hoping.

This is going to be fucking incredible
I'm really scared that there's going to be nearly zero vehicle variety. The feature list says "20+", which seems to me like just enough room to get the most basic military vehicles in for each faction. That makes me fear that there won't be much for civilian vehicles, which means more asymmetrical scenarios will be harder to make. Arma 2 had amazing vehicle variety and it really expanded what you could do with the editor by quite a bit, if nearly all the vehicles are near future tanks, helicopters, and patrol vehicles it's going to be a lot more bland in that regard. I hope they aren't going to use the setting as an excuse to not put in logistics vehicles and unarmed 2-1/2 ton trucks either.
It's not like that's a huge problem since ArmA mods galore
But ArmA III is a much more complicated game than ArmA II, it's only logical that it's going to be harder to mod and thus less mods are going to be made. Look at all the OFP mods and then look at ArmA II. Modders aren't going to focus on vehicle variety because making a vehicle is probably going to be a much bigger effort with new things like working suspensions and dashboard gauges. I honestly don't expect there to be much for megamods when it comes to ArmA III. We probably won't see anything like I44, and the ACE equivalent probably won't have anywhere near the same amount of weapons or units.

You'll be able to the same kind of models, you'll probably only need to have a few more stats on them but it'll probably be mostly the same.
Are they saying how many planes there are going to be in the alpha? I know planes are vehicles, but did they say?

I'm sure people can cut corners and then finalize their projects later on to realize a similar amount of content. Not to mention the ACE devs probably have a head start on their conversion already.
