the only problem I had with DayZ is that it was really hard to find active takistan life servers when it got popular as 90% of the servers were DayZ

Use the mission filter?

I enjoy the attention Arma got from DayZ but I think it brought a lot of players who were not for the whole milsim scene. Which the community before DayZ was primarily milsim and a couple RP servers.
For a pretty long while, there were the big name milsim and RP servers, it was pretty easy to get around servers and generally you heard the same voices on the server.
Now I see the cluttered DayZ servers and occasional copies of someone else's sub-par RP community. I can't find a Warfare server I like anymore and I have milsim'd far too much to go through a 'basic training' and try to rank up again.
Currently I just make missions by myself and play them occasionally with 1-2 people. It's hard to run infantry squads and air/armor/arty support with those numbers.
I'm that old man who wants to return to his glory days.
Can someone tell me if my PC can handle this on low?

It's not gonna be pretty and that CPU is a pretty heavy bottleneck, but it's up to you if you can handle lower framerates when there's a lot going on in the mission. The GPU is also really weak, it's probably not going to do too well. Definitely give the Alpha Lite a try if you can find someone to give you an invite.

Does anyone have ARMA 3 Alpha Lite so I can see if ARMA 3 will run?
Does anyone have ARMA 3 Alpha Lite so I can see if ARMA 3 will run?
The alpha isn't out til March 5th.
The alpha isn't out til March 5th.
I thought it came out before then, I might aswell just buy it. It'd be worth it anyway since I plan to upgraded.
[editline]2nd March 2013[/editline]
Also it turns out that I can play ARMA 3 on low, since in Minimun the Graphics card is 3830 (ATI Raedon HD), I have 5450 (ATI Radeon HD) and I have 6 GB of ram, DirectX 11 (Either 11 or 10). There is some stuff that I don't understand when comparing, such as GPU Power (For Minimun, don't know how to tell) and my CPU if it is a Dual Core. If someone could, could they tell me what it is? Scroll up the page and you should see it.

In the windows search box, look up 'Dxdiag' . It should be able to tell you everything you need to know.
You could wait for Oculus Rift.
The trackIR seems nice, but I'm a bit worried about needing to keep my eyes focused on the screen if I turn my head.
Oculus Rift isn't going to have the desired resolution. You'll be severely handicapped.
Not yet anyway. We'll see what the consumer version actually is like.
And with the eyes on screen head turning thing? Its never a problem because it's not 1:1 movement.

Pretty sure the Oculus Rift will have 1080p.

Would you know if my processor would be good enough to run ArmA III?
I can run ArmA II OA fine at the highest graphics but sometimes it gets these awful awful lag hiccups that last for a good few minutes for absolutely no reason. And I'm thinking it might be my Processor, but I have no idea how these work or how you can tell if it's good enough or not.
through DxDiag:
Intel Core i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz (8 CPUs), ~2,8GHz
For "Memory" I've got 2GBs (Although I was under the impression I had 4GBs if by Memory it means RAM)
For graphics card I have an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 with around 2GBs of total memory

You're kidding right.
Can someone tell me if my PC can handle this on low?
Yes. I have a 2.7 GHz CPU, a Radeon 3850 and 2GB of ram, and I can run fairly big battles on medium graphics settings, so you should be able to run it on medium or even better easily.
So kukiric is completely wrong.
You're kidding right.
No?.. I honestly have no idea how processors/CPUs work or how to determine how they are good for a certain type of game engine
I'd honestly like to know if it's fit at all to run ArmA III after I've had the series of lag hiccups that makes ArmA II unplayable sometimes.
Can someone tell me if my PC can handle this on low?

My guess is hell No. My QuadCore 3.2ghz with an HD5750 could play it just fine, until a lot of action was present. Then it just went to shit. The 5750 could handle it for the most part, except for vegetation slowing it down, and my CPU just told me to fuck myself whenever 100 guys were shooting
I got a 7850 now and it runs great, but my CPU is still my bottleneck. Hopefully Arma 3 will be a bit better than Arma 2 when it comes to Multicore CPUs so I have faith. Then there's Ragdolls. Hopefully once they fall they're frozen and don't move anymore to tax CPU's less
3 days gentlemen.
I'm excited for underwater diving, MFDs and better animations(And also Israeli vehicles and weapons, maybe somebody will make an IDF mod with those)
It would be very cool if people make submarines and other naval vehicles.
How long will the alpha be available for purchase? I know it opens on the fifth, but is there some sort of cutoff date?
Just to verify, if you pre-order Arma 3, you get the Alpha, then Beta, then Full game... That pre-order isn't available until the 5th, right? Everywhere I read makes it sound like it's available now
Wonder if they'll let you preorder digital deluxe or something right now than upgrade to Support before the game actually launches.

Yes, if you pre-order ARMA 3 on March 5th (it is NOT available for purchase until that date), you'll get access to the Alpha, Beta, and full game once it's officially released.
How long will the alpha be available for purchase? I know it opens on the fifth, but is there some sort of cutoff date?
It'll cut off at the very least exactly when beta starts. Probably before that, so you still have awhile.
I don't think pre-purchasing will have a limit, the price will just change as they transition from Alpha to Beta to Full Release. Similar to other games where the price increases as they get closer to a final product.
don't tell him, he's a spy!
tss you tell me or I hide the release confirmation codes ! :)

You can just change the sensitivity so slight head movement = much bigger turn radius in game. I only have to turn my head a few degrees and in game it's nearly 90 degrees right or left. It's pretty guuurd.
Awww yiss, got $40 waiting in my Steam account. Can't wait for this shit.
Soooooooo this game will be more demanding than Arma II right? Cause Arma II shits on my i5-3317u (completely not a gaming CPU)
Oh my, can't wait for it. Fucking common March 5th. Hurry up
