I mean really, how can you not like this adorable vehicle.
[thumb]http://www.arma3.com/images/post_images/arma3_alpha_screenshot_01.jpg[/thumb]
I showed a friend an image of this, he said "Did they let Top Gear Design it?"
Heh.
"Couple of submarines"? They've got one tiny one for scuba dudes and that's all. The giant submarine we've seen in some vids is jus a prop.
Remember when you could sail the Carrier/Submarines/Destroyer in BF1942? That was 11 years ago. I think it's time we bring it back! Though most people just turned them into island fortresses by beaching them. Oh well
And to those saying 20 vehicles, I just counted 30 so far
And do what with it?
Sail into the island?
The only good thing about a moving ship would just have a helmsman to move it around.
ARMA, unfortunately, isn't about naval combat its land combat.
Its why the ships aren't drivable and the planes are lackluster. Its primarily infantry combat.
Now, that doesn't mean I don't wish I could do carrier ops off of the coast of Chernarus in an F18, but the game doesn't need movable ships to do that.
Also to be realistic you would need dozens if not hundreds of people to run a single ship so...

Also to sum up the reactions of most people complaining:
"OMG ONLY 20 VEHICLES ITS GONNA BE SHIT, WE'RE ONLY GONNA GET 10 VERSIONS OF THE SAME 2 VEHICLES!!!!NO PLANES BOATS ANYTHING!!!"

oh wait
Moral of the post: STOP FUCKING TALKING UNTIL THE ENTIRE GAME COMES OUT
20+ vehicles is more than enough, arma is in it's core a soldier simulator, the rest is just a bonus to make it more fun.
I'd rather a few really heavily detailed vehicles as it is right now.
They have around 20 vehicles to span across helicopters, cars, tanks, boats, jets, planes (hopefully), drones (UAV's 'n' shit(hopefully)) and submarines, including the fact that its best for different factions to have their own vehicles.
It's not going to really help the variety, and that fucks up the quality in my eyes.
Didn't realise the military had a different vehicle for every soldier. It's a military sim, of course every tank will look the same, as well as every truck or car, for that faction.
I honestly would settle for just two MBTs if they're actually well made this time.
Someone remind me: will Arma 3 give players the ability to fire from vehicles as infantry? Firing ports, windows, open top, or firing hatches for example? I thought I'd heard about it a long time ago but I haven't heard much since. If those "20+" vehicles allow that individually for each, and similarly cool features, then 20 will be enough.
Aside from that, Infantry has always been what Arma has done best. 40+ weapons not including attachments sounds great to me.
No idea.
But I would guess no.

Probably not, I say that because of this screenshot

If we could, surely you'd be able to from there of all places, and none of them have their weapons up. Then again you could just double tap control in Arma 2 and lower your weapon, too, so Who knows
20 vehicles probably means 10 on each side (if they didn't count civilian vehicles), wich is good enough for me.
So any idea what these pre-order prices are going to be in USD? or are we going to find out on release? I mean I could convert 24.99 to USD gives me 32.52, but that doesn't mean anything. Is it going to be 30? Is going to be 35?
everyone said the same thing about red orchestra 2
The two games are very, very different.

There's a little button on the left, where you can select the type of moneys, but I'll just tell ya. The alpha without all the extra stuff is 32.99 USD.

Look at that, the Ah-6 looking helicopter with the guns on the side instead of the seats. 2 Variants right there!

Too bad this thread is going to get locked in 278 posts.
Ordered a TrackIR in anticipation of the Alpha, hopefully support will be implemented, if not then at least during the beta.
Come unto me ArmA 3, I don't even know what I'll do with my life.
Ordered a TrackIR in anticipation of the Alpha, hopefully support will be implemented, if not then at least during the beta.
trackir has always worked with the arma series
Has there been any word on the specific time the pre-orders and the alpha will be available on tuesday?
Either around midnight, or VALVe time.
VALVe time being anywhere from 6PM-whatever PM.
But since they're also releasing it on the bohemia store, I'm not so sure, nothing official has been released, but I'd assume that they'd have to release it on their own store at least somewhat in lines of when it's released on steam?
Do you guys think my PC can run this game?
Radeon 7700 2gb
i3 3220 @ 3.30 ghz
16gb ram

I'm sure you'll be able to at least run it, even with that dual core.
I'm not sure how well dual cores worked with Arma 2 because I've never owned one.
