holy fuck from thumbs this island becomes a xboxhuge
holy fuck it's huge
now i see
I take everything back, thanks man this is mindblowing
How is that surprising, seeing how huge the maps were in ofp and other armas and devs said "We gon an island up this bitch"?
Not this big.
Afaik, it's gonna be a bit smaller than that, they said they cut some huge plains I think, since there's already plenty of those. I think it went from ~320km to ~270km? Not sure.
Still super big.
well we tought that about arma2 and arma maps
but they felt smaller somehow.
I quite like the idea of having some giant plains, would make for an interesting fight as there is very little cover. Also a good place to crash land planes....
Yeah, once you practise CQB lots, it starts to become second nature. LEarn to move around the environment.
Going through doors shouldn't be a problem, with a buddy and decent room clearing techniques.
st_collision helps a lot with CQC.

I'd have to disagree. It's been 2 years since the original ArmA 2 came out and I've put like 300 hours into it and yet I still feel that I haven't fully explored Chernarus. It feels small when you don't stop to think about how much stuff there actually is on the map.

One day i got really bored, dropped a UAZ and just drove around chern all afternoon looking for cool spots to make missions.
If anyone wants to play some time, add my steam (too_small) I only have operations arrowhead at the moment, so unless you plan on buying me arma 2, OA will have to do.
Anybody know how large it will be compared to Takistan or Chernarus?

I drive around alot, before making each mission I take a white toyota and ride around after spotting an area from a chopper.
Usualy my SP missions involve long patrolling hikes or convoy runs or just running between multible bases set up in the area, while fighting zombies.
sure the island is extremely detailed, but the exploration doesn't feel that rewarding for me. You might find some fancy house or dam in the middle of nowhere for cover and go "oh cool" Thats about it.

chernarus was 225 squarekm, the island won't be modelled 1:1 but it will be around 380-400 km^2
I usually get in the A-10 and fly around an area looking for an interesting location, then I'd parachute out to take a better look.
I'll make a islands size comparsion when I get back and if you guys want it
I hope they let us shoot out of vehicles, I always found myself being useless when we were ambushed and driving off sat in the jeep not doing anything. If you guys ever saw Generation Kill, I mean like that. Where they have the soldiers shooting out of the windows as well.

I heard that VBS1 did successfully implement such a feature (along with walking inside vehicles). Too bad that feature was never ported to the commercial games.
2 more screens revealed :) as there was small interview with me so as bonus :)

updated it a boot
Ivan said in a interview that they were thinking of implementing shooting from vehicles. Also cool map, looks nice a big for playing on, I always wanted to try hide and seek in Arma 2 but it would be impossible to find the other player.

if they don't implement that..
I really don't want to see the wrecked vehicle models in arma 3. Its silly that if a helicopter blows up it automatically turns black, the crew disappear and a giant flame burns upwards. I really want to see a helicopter smash into the ground, the rotors clashing against the landscape and digging up soil, the crew covering their heads or leaning towards the ground and the colour of the vehicle the same.
gamerman345 you just delayed the game by another year :)

Im dreaming too hard aren't I
It would be nice to see different colour damage depending on what type of damage happened to the helicopter. Another thing I didn't like was that after a vehicle was destroyed and the fire had gone out, every now and then there was a grenade like explosion from the vehicle.
I wish they would stop using the X-35B and start using the F-35B like they should be.
