Maybe Bohemia are trying to make a Middle Eastern Coalition.(Im referencing the BF2 faction, MEC. Where its just a combination of all powerful middle eastern forces.)
they said they scaled it down a lot because it was just massive fields in some areas
more than slightly :) tss tss tss :)
How significant is the scaling down?

I could see an idea like that. I wouldn't be surprised to see the middle east states try and get together. They have a powerful bargaining chip that's only going to get more valuable as the years go by, and more and more states try to get a piece of a smaller pie.
It's kind of worrying to think where countries like the US, UK, even Russia might be on the outside looking in.
Now i want to go find some book on the issue...

Yeah but BIS won't tell us Arma 3's general story so we have to wait until 2012 to find out.

Killing terrorists in mah undies, fuck yeah!
I kinda hope for a little bit of underground areas too, like in Takistan there was that mine that had a underground entrance but you couldn't go in, would be sweet as a place to use.
How about some Tactic00l urban warfare? [sp]It's a joke[/sp]
I can't wait for this, I've never played any other Arma, but I'm really looking forward to this.
I'd also like to see a pilotable Frigate/Warship really.
Its already been done for arma 2:

It can be done such as in that mod but it never feels great and the really over powered. It would be interesting to have some more boats but I think full sized war ships are bad for this game.

Well to a certain degree thats like saying its not fair that all tanks don't come with a battery of ground to air missiles. I can't see what would be really wrong with it, the FFAA mod has a fantastic Frigate which you can even walk the interior of, and you even direct the guns from the command room.
If it was an absolute nuisance then Im sure people just wouldn't feature it in missions.
Good point actually.

some more screens ;)
please kill my computer more.
Makes me sad the railgun was cancelled.
also those graphics... I might even have to overclock my pc for this game!
I'm keeping an eye on this!
This game would be perfect for a terrain-control style game mode, ALA Planetside or similar.
I never liked ArmA2 multiplayer because it for the most part was just flying to predetermined points on the map to kill the AI in the area, then moving to the next one. Though this is in large part due to the server owners only ever playing custom game modes like this that suck the depth out of the game.
It would be so awesome if there was a kind of "Resource Management" style game mode where its basically all out island warfare, except scaled down slightly for performance reasons. Capturing areas to expand your area of influence or gain resources from a specific area, cutting off the enemy's chain of supply by capturing an area behind enemy lines, etc.

Terrain control! The giant landmass would be perfect for a game mode like this, even if it was more AI-strategy based than tactical combat based. Certain areas of interest could provide certain benefits, either in the form of more AI support, better tech weaponry, vehicles, aircraft, etc. Other areas would hold little tactical value other than it being a key area to keep under your control (i.e. a chokepoint or some other).
There could even be dynamic enemy lines generated depending on your reach or influence. Towns under your area of influence are more likely to support you, though an insurgency can happen (this is getting a little out there though).
I doubt something like this will be in, or will have time to be in. All I can do is at least urge multiplayer game mode creators to make stuff like the above, rather than casual borefests such as Domination for the large-player servers.
Superpowers does alot of what you mentioned, just less in depth recources. You capture towns and earn money. With the money you buy better equipment to capture more towns and ultimately find and destroy the enemy HQ. It even has RTS elements like base building and salvaging wrecks for money. This is all in vanilla ArmA 2, I wouldnt think they wouldn't expand on it for ArmA 3.

if you find some dudes who are into scripting you can easily create that in mission editor, even for OA right now.
