Gah
A recent update broke my trainers and I didn't even know
Its really fun to play with invisible mode and godmode after you have finished the game, to explore the levels and kill people in the most exciting way possible
I've never played any of the others in the series. I quite like it so far. The tendency for me to shot everything on sight is not helping, but I'm working on that.
I haven't beaten this game yet, but I feel like the campaign mercilessly punishes you for playing the game however you want.
I'm the sort of player that uses stealth for the most part, but also shoots when I know when I can get away with it. Then I usually walk around in plain sight with a disguise.
All of that seems to result in fucking massive numbers of negative points however, which is also the only way to advance your character. I liked being able to shoot people I didn't like in blood money and hide them with little penalty, frankly but even shooting or doing ANYTHING to enemies except sneaking past them (because even on normal they see right through your fucking disguise in 2 seconds unless you waste all your instinct) you get a fairly stiff penalty.
I don't feel like I have any control over the environment at all and that I am forced to plod along one specific playstyle if I want to get anywhere. Maybe that was their intention, but one thing Blood Money did well was give me a sense that I had accomplished something if I had managed to steal some high ranking guy's uniform. That it opened up a dozen new possibilities. Instead it feels like I have no acquired a new skin for Agent 47 to scurry around in the shadows with, fearfully peaking around corners and doing acrobatics away from other NPCs instead of manipulating them.
Should be a freeplay mode where there is no score counter.

If the game notices that you're killing a lot of people, then it goes into a "Serial Killer" point system, or something.
It's not that big of a deal, but seeing big red text that says "YOU'RE DOING THIS WRONG" sometimes stops me from killing a random guard with a new weapon I found.
I just figure that there are more levels that offer rewards than their are rewards to earn, not to mention that you can go back and re-play levels to get missed rewards, so don't worry so much about the points... play however the crap you want to, it's not a big deal getting negative points here and there.

This isn't as easy for me though. I am a completionist and perfectionist when it comes to games like this that give you a large amount of lattitude with what you can do. So the perfectionist part of me gets infuriated at the SLIGHTEST mistake and point reduction and I end up playing a level a dozen or more times before actually completing it. The end result is that it really discourages me from wanting to play the level AGAIN even if it is just for fun.
I don't get why people complain that they can't btcher an entire level without losing points. It's to track your silent assassin skills, if you aren't going for Silent Assassin just ignore it. Hitman Contracts did the exact same thing with the post mission summary.
Infact Absolution is a lot more like Contracts than it is Blood Money. Which is great because Contracts is my favourite Hitman game.
So if [sp]47 was working for Diana the whole time, why the fuck didn't the game just switch to mission based hits of you killing all the agency members with Diana's funding and info, that would have been way better[/sp]
[sp]I'd presume that Travis' branch of the agency would have heard that 47 was back on the payroll, so he still had to stay inconspicuous and off the grid. [/sp]
The only thing points are for is buying unlocks which are only useful for contracts and playing through the game again. I never let the points bother me unless I had a goal of beating a friends score.
Did that patch fuck up the game for anyone else? It's frozen at 94% for me and no matter how many times I restart steam, nothing happens.
I got this game today and feel like writing something about it, sorry if this kind of review is late.
So far I really enjoyed this game much, it is a real challenge and feels so polished. It looks and sounds great, characters are interesting and cool. The voice acting is amazing and so is the dialogue. There are many new nifty features that enhance the gameplay, the cover system, close combat and many other things.
Although some things have flaws, like the disguise system. It is certainly unique and sound more realistic. You have different "groups" that know eachother and you have to change your disguise to overcome certain obstacles. The system works really great in the Terminus Hotel due to the different groups that are present. Although the whole system is useless in levels that have mainly only one groups, like the linear cop escapes or the Orphanage level. Enemies detect you from far away even when you do not face them, it makes it really frustrating and useless after all.
On the higher difficulty the game is really frustrating due to the unfair checkpoints, once you got the right way you only need to repeat the same steps again until you reach the point where you are stuck. You waste a lot of time doing the same routine over again. It is not challenging but simply a chore.
My biggest gripe is that they change the general flow of the game, it's a lot more story driven which is not bad at all. It is rather refreshing to see a change of the usual forumla. The game has two different type of missons, the hitman missions which feel like the missions from the previous installements. The other ones are escape missions and the "get from point A to B" missions.
The problem is that the game tries to emphasis a lot on the freedom and different approaches that you can take to achieve your goal. Actually the game only gives you an illusion and there are often only 2 ways or only one that is viable. Especially in the linear missions, there is only one way to get through it without blasting through every enemy. The hitman missions offer more ways and feel really great.
Absolution feels more like a stealth game in the vein of splinter cell. Linear levels that require routine and not actual thinking. The smaller levels are a great design choice but also enhance this issue.
Nevertheless I am enjoying this game a lot, it's different than the prequels. Personally I prefer the large open worlds with many sideways and possibilties.
All these people having issues, while I can run the game just fine on my stock speed 965Be, 8 gigs of RAM and an HD 7770 1 GB model. The game was on very high or something.
Yeah for some reason the game runs incredibly well on my old rig, I was fairly amazed on how smooth it runs. It seems greatly optimized.
Just finished the game. I fucking loved it. Worth every cent. I can't wait to go back and screw around in the missions.
Spoilers: [sp]Was that Diana standing behind Victoria in the ending cut scene?[/sp]

[sp]Yup, Diana wasn't really dead, Just faking it to flush out the corrupt branch of the agency that made victoria. 47 wasn't in on it until the final mission i believe.[/sp]

Interesting review. I'm torn whether to get Hitman Absolution (I enjoyed the previous ones) or Far Cry 3.
It just feels a lot more linear and storydriven, it makes it a lot more atmospheric. But some levels drag one so much, like the endless cops that are searching for you. It seems like the whole chicago police is after your ass. It feels really unrealistic and exagerated.

Yeah, I like the series, but I don't know if it's a $60 kind of like. Might have to buy Far cry 3 instead.
Buy both by getting both games from key sites :v:
Great...now everything I do I feel like I should press Ctrl...
Yeah, I was trying to use instinct in Far Cry 3.
And then you realize your pinky hurts

People need to buy from GmG more, I got it for $25 on preorder
when asking yourself what game to get typically you get the game that would most likely tide you over better until you can get the other one.
considering both far cry 3 and hitman absolution have insane replay value and a wide variety of gameplay elements between them it would be a hard pick.
i'd have to go with far cry 3, even though i don't even have it and am currently enjoying the fuck out of absolution.
i don't think i'll ever tire of absolution.

I changed my sneak button to space due to it working the same way in Hitman 2.
Oh, lol. Instinct. Haha. Messed up some keys there.
The missions in Hope are really great, feels more like Hitman. Although now I have to infiltrate Dexter Industries, seems like it's going back to Spinter Cell mode.
I really have no idea how to do the science lab level where you have to kill 2 doctors, while gaining silent assassin and only using the suit.
I managed to get into the first room and lock the doctor in the bomb room and then escape to the checkpoint further down undetected and while only using my suit... however when I got to the lowest level, I could never get past the fucking unconscious patients that somehow were impossible to distract, could detect you quickly despite being unconscious, and prevents you from using the vent without being detected.[sp]Either way I used the vent, thew a needle in the doctors face, and escaped without alerting the guards. This really seemed like my only possible stealthy option while not using a disguise.[/sp]

People kept saying Hitman Absolution is a like like Deus Ex, so well those people will get their wish.

Some people are taking this way too seriously.
Although I had to agree with
"I mean, he can carry a sniper, an assault rifle and many more weapons all inside his suit?" in the top comment.
And really?
This smells of money.*
