I bought Hitman: Absolution today (PC)
I pick the difficulty, the game goes to the loading screen for 2 seconds then crashes
What do?

First, verify the integrity of the cache, incase there is a corrupt file.
Second, change your settings, lower some things and turn on vsync, don't know why, but vsync fixed my problems in both Sleeping Dogs and Absolution.
Third, if the problem still persists, right click on the Hitman exe, click the box that says disable desktop composition, and run in admin and see if that works.
This happened to me with Sleeping Dogs, oddly enough. You can turn off the power saving mode somewhere.
It's not that, plus my power save mode is set to never.
I've been having that when on medium, and I've had it on a few other games. I assumed it was my GPU overheating, as I don't seem to have the issue on low. I'm rockin' a 5770, so nothing particularly fancy.
I'll try that, I'm just surprised it's happening my pc is fairly good.
It's either my Graphics card(getforce 9800 GT) or psu apparently.
Fuck the escape from the police in the library if you are trying to not kill innocents/SA. It's like that entire area was engineered only for you to follow a very specific route, kill very specific people (and killing is really the only option) until a certain point then you were expected to just run the fuck out of there while being caught. It seems impossible on anything harder than normal difficulty to actually get through it undetected.
I also hate how restarting from a checkpoint arbitrarily resets NPC's... getting into room 899 at the terminus was literally almost impossible without a guard costume on unless you kill a couple of guards silently (ruining SA). Shame I activated the checkpoint right outside of the 8th floor fire escape with no guard disguise on. So I load a checkpoint to go back... only to find the music guy I choked and hid earlier was now mysteriously alive upload loading the save, blocking the only way out into the lobby where a guard that I could knock out was. Impossible to get by the music guy while already in the room without killing him or him seeing you. So I had to kill the guard that looks out the window in order to get into 899 without issue.

[sp]You could've gone accessed the fire ladder from the hippie DJ's room, and room 899 is left to the exit of the ballroom[/sp]

Is it even possible to get through that ballroom without being seen though? It seemed impossible to me.
Is it even possible to get through that ballroom without being seen though? It seemed impossible to me.
Exactly, that's where I was.
I could get into the ballroom without being seen but it required me to kill the guy at the window without a guard disguise and plenty of instinct. I couldn't go back because apparently loading a checkpoint respawns people you've taken care of earlier, so the hippy (who was previously knocked out and disposed of) suddenly was awake again, and there's no way past him from the fire escape without killing him or being spotted (so I couldn't backtrack to get a guard disguise).
is there a way to extract/convert the cutscenes to an .avi file or something? I found some pcbik files or something like that, not sure if that's compatible with the rad software tho. Any ideas?
What's the deal with the sniper challenge? I have multiple friends with it who did not pre-order. They bought it during the winter sale and have the sniper challenge. One said he got it after buying the dlc. I have the game and bought all the dlc, but no sniper challenge. Can someone explain it?
is it worth buying? the levels seem more linear than they were in blood money and i really dont like the looks of the points system

Some levels are linear but there is still plenty of open ones with options to kill your target and the points system means nothing. Think of it as the rating system from blood money but more refined.
I really want to start Hitman Absolution but cant decide what difficulty to play on. First time and i played through blood money.
I really like realism so I am considering Purist but I am unsure if that is ridiculously hard or not.
Without the blend in ability you'll be in a real pickle but it might be doable if you can sneak around in the dark.
can you purchase and customize weapons in the singleplayer?
can you purchase and customize weapons in the singleplayer?
Nope and you can't spawn with them either, You can purchase and use them in contracts however.
but why :'(

And that sounds really fucking dumb.
I played hard my first playthrough so I would have some direction, and did purist on my second.
Is purist realistic or just stupidly hard?
Is purist realistic or just stupidly hard?
Both.
Both.
Dammit... I cant decide!!
Purist really hasn't been that hard for me, of course I only just beat Chinatown and have been playing other things. I got Silent Assassin easily so far, and the tutorial got Shadow or whatever, but I know when the cops show up it's going to get harder. I beat the game already on Normal though.

Point system can be completely ignored. It's only good to see if you got the silent assassin bonus. As for levels I was also scared they would be small or linear (few of them are) me being a huge fan of Blood Money but they give you many options how to finish your mission.
Right now I'm trying to get all the challenges. All I'm missing is [sp]Attack of the Saints, which has some outrageous ones, and Skurky's Law.[/sp]

So about the challenges of [sp]Attack of the Saints[/sp], I've heard that Angel of Death II is bordering on 'unfairly hard'. Apparently, you got to kill every guard and target in the chapter without being spotted. Going off the amount of guards on Normal, that is about the grand total of 61 kills you have to pull off without being spotted. Every other challenge in the game seems like a walk in the park compared to that one.
Yeah, that's my biggest concern. Plus you have to do it in one try. Fuck up in the last section and you have to restart the whole level. Who come up with this idea was a retard because part 3 is just killing the 7 Saints with fiber wire and you can do it by killing the first one and just reloading checkpoint.

Sounds like something I used to do in Hitman 2 and Blood Money. One of my favorite things to do.
I didn't know there was such a challenge, will have to try it at some point.
Just completed Absolution. The only fault I have with it, is how you can't pick weapons when you start missions.
In the trailer you see 47 putting guns in the car, I assumed when you got the car you would be able to change your equipment.
He doesn't have the Agency to back him up this time, so it makes sense that you only get your Silverballers and Fiberwire to start with.
Yeah, I understand the reason behind no option to select your gear, but contracts mod just doesn't cut it for me. You can equip only one weapon and your targets aren't that great.
Regarding contracts, is anyone else grinding that hobo kill for easy money?
Why didn't I get 'SUIT ONLY' when I beat an entire level without taking any disguises?

Also, why does Being Spotted matters if I knocked the witness out cold right there and then? I mean the penalty sticks. It's incredibly frustrating.
