skip codename 47 and you don't experience what started it. also experiencing the plot firsthand is better than flashbacks and wiki entries.
it's probably best to play codename 47 when you have some time to kill, but you definately should play it if you consider yourself a hitman fan.
i started with SA way back like a year after it came out then did contracts when it came out, both on ps2. then i got a computer and played the first a bit in anticipation for bloodmoney.
personally i think it's the best order to play them in, 2, contracts, 47 then bloodmoney.
and 47 is the only game with bullet casings for every gun, not just bolt actions, revolvers and shotguns
it's probably not a good idea to play it without first playing either 2 or contracts first. the controls suck.
Hitman codename 47 and silent assasin to a lesser extent are about finding one of the few obscure ways the devs intended you to complete the mission, if you can't find them it will be p. unforgiving which can make it a very frustrating game.

Sure, but C47 has that charming intensity those old games have, when you can't save mid-mission. Like the early GTA's. When you're neck-deep in Lee Hong's assassination, that shit is going to be so intense, you'll start sweating. Because you know that if you fuck up, you'll have to start over. Again. And so much shit can go wrong. It made it feel realistic.
But sure, I had to cheat past the third-last mission, because at one point, late in the mission, you had to have excellent timing, or else you would fuck up. And that was one looong mission. While SA has a very silly story, and the whole "you can do it in several ways!" thing is very poorly executed, the missions are fun, and there are so damn many of them. And they are all very varied!

Enhanced: Easy
Supreme training and a physique enhanced beyond ordinary human capacity mean that your enemies are no match for you. By cunning or by brute force, you are unstoppable.
Players can activate additional checkpoints
Instinct regenerates
Instinct will provide hints
Enemies react more slowly than normal
Enhanced: Medium
You can rely on Agent 47's superior training and instinct. Remaining completely unnoticed can be a challenge, but you can always rely on your guns to get you out of trouble.
Players can activate additional checkpoints
Instinct does not regenerate
Instinct will provide hints
Normal enemy presence with normal reaction times
Professional: Hard
You like a challenge and your enemies will provide you with just that. They will be more numerous and with faster reactions. Evading your enemies will be difficult and you must strike with flawless timing.
Players can activate additional checkpoints
Insting depletes when used and does not regenerate
No instinct hints
Additional enemies with improved reaction time
Professional: Expert
You fight for every inch of progress, often without firing a single bullet. You don't rely on any help and accept trying many times before reaching your target...and perfection.
No player-activated checkpoints
Instinct depletes when used and does not regenerate
No instinct hints
Maximum number of enemies with fastest reacton
Professional: Purist
This is a challenge for a true perfectionist. You know every rule, every detail, and all environments by heart. Even then you will die trying.
No Help
No guides
No Interface
Only a crosshair

that's a relief. seems professional expert basically provides exactly what someone who wants to experience the new instinct system while retaining the hitman norm needs.
and purist looks harder than professional in previous games. you have to count bullets.
this is awesome for initial replay value. i bet most hitman fans will play expert then purist.
Yeah, I'll just be doing Professional: Expert without using Instinct.
[sp]I might use it a little. Like using the map screen on Professional in Contracts or Blood Money.[/sp]
RPS has a hands-on of the first bit of Hitman Absolution. It is a tad spoilery of the first bit of the game, but nothing I wasn't expecting.

To summarize the article: It looks beautiful on PC, it is amazing to play for the first bit, then things happen plotwise that somewhat tarnish the fun and stealth, but the fun and stealth may return in the latter half of the game that the author hasn't been able to play yet.
welp looks like contracts mode is going to be the thing that saves the game.
otherwise we got some dynamic levels but some linear shit that's probably going to play like conviction
Played Blood Money a few hours ago.
Just love the feel in that game.
I also installed a texture mod that changes 47's face to look more like Jean Reno and it really made 47 blend in a hell of a lot better. As I played A Vintage Year and wearing the guard uniform 47 was almost entirely indistinguishable from the other guards.
I also didn't know that you can save yourself from death if you manage to pull off many kills during the slow-motion and unlimited ammo pre-death time.

I think you only need to pull off like 3 headshots or maybe 4.
Thanks for the heads-up guys. I'm leaning towards getting them, but I probably won't be getting any games soon. I'm still interested, though, so I'll keep an eye out if it comes on sale, or something.

Hopefully that's just setting the games story up for the rest of the game.
Still to go on about how much better 47 blends in with the Jean Reno like face mod.
He blends in A Vintage Year with the guards, he looks like Frenchie in Curtains Down (duh) and he looks like an alcoholic in Flatline.
"Player activated checkpoints" = game saves
Right?
So could anyone explain why does 47 have his barcode covered with a band-aid?
You gonna link us to this texture mod or show a screenshot or something?
Sure thing. It's just that I'll be going to a party to attend to so I can't do it right now.
But once I'm back I can go snap pictures of Reno 47 wearing different costumes.
And I'll even try to find the link.
It was a pain in the ass to install because you have to change the texture for each mission file separately.
So could anyone explain why does 47 have his barcode covered with a band-aid?
everytime he went shopping the barcode added another $20 to his shopping bill, sadly the cashiers are no longer with us.
So could anyone explain why does 47 have his barcode covered with a band-aid?
Maybe he sliced it off in rejection of the company, but that would need to be covered with more than a band aid
So could anyone explain why does 47 have his barcode covered with a band-aid?
Doesn't really stand out to have just a band aid on.
Maybe he tried to grind it off with sandpaper.
perhaps he burned it off
or perhaps it just put on a fucking bandaid to cover it up stop overthinking it
you could say that except it's clearly bleeding in various shots and some footage
you could say that except it's clearly bleeding in various shots and some footage
And the 'Sexy nun attack' trailer.
Didn't he cut it off in the Saints trailer? There's the answer
I remember seeing a Hitman: Blood Money article on a games magazine years ago, and it had this picture of 47 cleaning up puddles of blood off with a mop and bucket of water. I wonder why didn't they include that in the final game?
I don't think the trailers for Hitman games are always that accurate. There was a bit in the Blood Money trailer where he's walking in a circle with that other Assassin dude and aiming a gun at him, with this whole "I'm just like you" speech.
And then ingame it was like a 10 minute chase thing and barely even got mentioned, despite the trailers making out like it was a kind of "47 MEETS HIS MATCH" thing and being a huge plot point.
Well, the encounter with the albino guy on the roof in the white house mission is one of the very few things close to a bossfight in hitman and he does have a bit of dialogue with 47.
I'm probably going to do purist for a first playthrough, I can see it being fun as hell.
Oh fuck i didn't even noticed my thread was being used :tinfoil:
Updated the thread some more, gonna add all the details of Hitman Absolution son

yeah and originally the albino was supposed to appear as a character that actively hunted you down during a game if your notoriety got to high.
both things sound really cool on paper but are simply not practical.
[editline]6th October 2012[/editline]
actually i think one of the devs said "47 is not a maid"
if they got into cleanup of a hit they'd go really in depth with it, they can't just stop at the bucket and blood because that's a single thing that's quite easy to do, it just takes time and isn't practical at all.

Because that would have been the most annoying shit ever
