Hitman series Megathread - "Names are for friends, so i don't need one"
my god the hitman forum review thread is a bunch of circle jerking over how they don't care about how it's more story driven and all the other shit in the review.
they're in denial over something with as much credibility as a politician.
What I find most amusing about it is the fact that they happily accepted the positive reviews but as soon as a negative review comes along they quickly changed to "This review is questionable, just see for yourself!". Luckily for me, I never base my games off of reviews and I'm sure that I'll enjoy the game.
Finally got together the same business suit 47 wears thanks to goodwill and I'm going to church with my girlfriend tomorrow dressed in it.
Would be wicked if ave maria started playing when I walked in

Walk in and suddenly stripper assassin nuns everywhere.
Take photos so we can laugh at your spaghetti.
I'd play hitman 2 again, but i forgot to grab the explosives at the beginning of one of those damn russia missions, and made it all the way to the end before realizing I NEED those explosives to finish the level

I did something similar earlier where I killed the general after I realized I needed him to unlock the door for me.
Pros
Cons
- No saving, checkpoint system is awful - even an AI glitch can lead to you having to restart the level, also doesn't save data such as disguises or items you've left, and guards killed will respawn
- Focus on (embarrassingly bad) story over gameplay
- PC performance was awful, they tried out on 3 different PCs - two can run Skyrim smoothly yet get 15fps in Hitman on minimal settings, with occasional freezes of over a second, and load times of over a minute
- A lot of gameplay involves you getting to a door to trigger a cutscene
- The amount of kills you have control over how they're executed is about 25%, even then it's not as expansive as Blood Money
- Equipment system - can't choose weapons in main missions, or carry weapons over between missions
- Guard AI is strange, they will sometimes detect you walking where commando rolling wouldn't get you detected
- "Sneak by covering your face" idea is laughable
- DRM on Contracts mode - can't play any contracts, even your own, offline
-I find that there may be some truth in this one, since the game runs on a check point system it is more likely to run off of save states, although this can be easily coded to prevent this.
-Personal opinion, I think the story is pretty legit
-PC performance in Sniper Challenge was superb, so I find this hard to believe.
-This isnt necessarily bad but it does stray away from Blood Money style
-What do they mean "main missions"
-AI can never be perfect, this sounds more to do with the difficulty level of the player playing.
-"Sneak by covering your face" is not laughable and a legitimate way of trying to conceal your identity. What is Agent 47 going to do, look straight at people? It adds a sense of trying to blend in. The writer is really dumb holy shit.
-DRM contracts mode, someone already mentioned this there needs to be a clear divider between cheating online and cheating offline. Being able to make missions while disconnected from the internet could possibly make the cheating aspect easier.

I killed that one guy who unlocks the door for you in the training level...

As far as I can remember, Sniper Challenge was also poorly optimized when first launched. I think they fixed the performance in a later update, though.
Never trust PC Gamer about performance. They said Max Payne 3 ran like shit and was badly optimised.. It's the best optimised game I have, I run it maxed out at a great frame rate.
They're probably saying shit in reviews for most games like that implying that they want money from developers in order to write a good review
this is not hitman

It is actually, both Hitman 1 and 2 and I think Contracts had plenty of missions like that.

Where's this screenshot from? I'm curious as to what the objectives are, because even in blood money there's levels (such as the one where you rescue the guy in the asylum) where you have to complete certain objectives to leave the level.

yes but it aint to leave the level, its to get to the next part of the level.
shame

Again, hitman 1 and 2 had plenty of missions like that.

yes it is because usually what a level in hitman is achieving a certain objective and leaving the area
[editline]11th November 2012[/editline]
how are you going to kill someone if you're in another area already?

absolution is story-driven, not just mindless contracts you have to do
I find it rather sad that people get disappointed over a lousy feature.
Just because it doesn't let you continue it doesn't make it a bad game.

I am actually disappointed from what i have heard so far, i was hoping for an updated hitman blood money.

It's got a bit of a different formula, but I'm hopeful it's good anyway.

As good as that sounds, I honestly think I'd prefer something new instead of it just being the exact same with new missions.
Been playing some Hitman Blood money this morning. Going through Pro, silent assassin.

From what I can tell as well, Absolution should have a fairly long campaign. There have been said to be a lot of environments, and the Streets of Hope gameplay showed that it was the ninth level, and in that not much plot development seemed to have actually happened, implying that a lot more was to come.
Trying to resist playing Codename 47 again, Absolution feels so far...
That hotel mission was just too dang fun.

It's really amazing, and I was wondering if perhaps The Golden Cat in Dishonored was a nod at it? When you kill [sp]one of the Pendletons, he can be in the steam room, and you can turn a valve and watch him die through a window. I know the pipe doesn't explode in Tools of the Trade, but they seemed awfully similar, the two scenes.[/sp]

That is Hitman.
Who here has tried Death to spies? Its just like Hitman but during WW2 as a Russian spy.
And hard as nails.
It's not really that much like Hitman, it feels pretty different, but it is pretty fun after you learn to save all the time and figure out some of the unexplained things you need to master the game.

;(
why so ;(?
I watched the 3rd video and it looked pretty baller, despite the person playing like Sam Fisher with a wrench.
Watching king of chinatown, see no major flaws yet.
