so what are our fears confirmed? you know it's entirely possible to, in contracts mode, create a replica of a level but remove all the "you shall not pass" bullshit. i'm thinking in contracts mode the first levels made are going to basically be the standard levels but with all the plot bullshit taken out so they're straight up missions like bloodmoney and such.
Yeah I don't see anything particularly wrong with the videos, the guy is just playing kind of weird.
also considering the amount of levels you can use in contracts correlates to the amount of maps in game available for the story mode. also this game will most likely sell like hotcakes, so don't be surprised if there are contracts mode map packs or something similar.
Wathced the first 3 minutes of the viedeo where the guy had the wrench. Looks quite nice so far. I strongly dislike all those notifications and such, but I can't say much since not sure what level that is and what difficultly he plays on and I'm sure you'll get the option to disable those. Won't see more since I don't want to spoil too much. :P
reduced hints at hard and no hints at purist. [editline]11th November 2012[/editline] Levels are obviously sectioned but they look occupied and with stuff to do, so I don't think that's a big problem. [editline]11th November 2012[/editline] I think we're gonna have to realise this isn't blood money +, it's slightly different and more plot-driven, and contracts exist to give back the blood money feel. As Neoseeker said level packs will probably benefit the devs greatly, so I'm keeping thumbs up for that.
I just hope that guards aren't too alert on the higher difficulty settings like they are in the older Hitman games. It's annoying when you walk near a guard and he immediately sees through your disguise and alerts the entire level of your presence. I like the whole mechanic in Absolution where 47 covers his face, or he lowers his head as he walks by certain guards/people, and you'll be discovered only if they examine you for too long. In Hitman 1 and 2, they just took one look at me and opened fire, disguised or not. I just hope the guards don't become psychic on the higher difficulties and figure you out just by looking at you.

To blend in with your disguise you gotta use Instinct and there's none of that in Purist which I'll be playing on. So what does one do? Just find a way around?

(At least if I understood you right.)

My only problem with the covering your face mechanic is that you need instinct to use it, so it might not even be possible at higher difficulties
come release this thread is going to be flooded with people linking to their custom levels..
Something worries me about that mechanic though. To blend in with your disguise you gotta use Instinct and there's none of that in Purist which I'll be playing on. (So if you're trying to get past a cop in a cop disguise, for example) You'd probably have to find another route, wait for an opportunity to slip by to occur, or get a different disguise to walk on by.
My only problem with the covering your face mechanic is that you need instinct to use it, so it might not even be possible at higher difficulties
Will make it harder. Haha.
I'm still confused about how the game will work regarding AI and disguises. In the higher difficulty setting of previous Hitman game's, the AI was described as more alert and aware. The higher difficulty settings for Absolution just say there'll will be a larger amount of guards/enemies who will all have quicker reaction timing to seeing you do your thing. So this begs the question: Will people take the same the amount of time in seeing through your disguise, regardless the difficulty, just reacting more quickly or slowly?
I do think people are incredibly idiotic to cancel pre-orders based on one review alone. And a PC Gamer review at that.
How's that idiotic? They're being safe. They can still buy it If the review turns out to be wrong.
How's that idiotic? They're being safe. If the review turns out to be wrong, they can buy it then.
Because every con PC Gamer listed has been basically proven false in the trailers, gameplay and in the Sniper Challenge. They are paid for reviews, whether you want to accept it or not.
Looked at the few videos linked earlier. The game looked good, but damn the person playing had a lot of wrench action.
How's that idiotic? They're being safe. If the review turns out to be wrong, they can buy it then.
They cancel pre-orders, which makes cool stuff from the game go away, whereas if you get the game AFTER it was released, no more cool stuff in. (High tech suit and advanced steelballers or w/e it was called)
I heard the game was getting TF2 promotions. That'd be a nice plus for me.
Well I only paid 25 euro's for the PC version over half a year ago, so I'm not cancelling shit even if the game is 45 minutes of poop coming out 47's butthole in closeup

I can't wait to play thrugh this on a "loud" playthrough. The new physics and alertness and all of it are going to be so much more fun than the previous games, (and going loud in BM was already hilarious and satisfying).
this is not hitman
After watching those videos posted I realized that this is a door to exit chinatown. There is no difference whatsoever between this door and the exit area in any level of blood money. Seriously. Anyway, I watched 100% of all those videos. Nothing sticks out as a problem to me. All the areas seemed big and looked fun enough to keep me happy, and while some didn't have targets, contracts mode will let you put targets in them, which is just fucking awesome. The score system looked like it works really well, with every kill that isn't your target taking points off the player.
yeah you can't leave the area because it's where you fucking entered. lol if that's what PC gamer was talking about...wow. and am the only one who thought that by "respawning guards" they meant that maybe the AI realizes people are missing so they send more guards over to investigate/take the routes/patrols of the missing ones?

I already watched the three put out by the developers but i don't remember seenig one with chinatown in it.
What video are you talking about? I already watched the three put out by the developers but i don't remember seenig one with chinatown in it.
These 3 videos have about an hour of gameplay (some of which hasn't been seen before): http://i.youku.com/u/UMTEwMzMxMDMy/videos They're in order from right to left, and imo, it doesn't spoil too much.
Watching the video. "Better distract the guard and hit a dude in the face with a wrench while the guard is standing next to you. Then quickly run behind a van." Some silent assassin shit right there.

He explodes it when the China Town King is walking over the explosive, obviously using the Mini-map as a reference then immediately loads into the next level.
