Yeah it's pretty short, that's part of the reason I bother playing it now and again. I've played through once on 360 and twice on PC since it came out, but haven't played it in a while. I've just been playing Blood Money.
it sucks because it's such a brilliant game... and these last 3 levels will not last me until absolution lol.

Yeah as much as I love it, I felt like Colombia and a few of the end levels were kind of meh.
I look at it in this way. Max Payne 3 was a good game even if it wasn't exactly what people think of "Max Payne" to be. I think the main thing in this game is that it's been 7 years and they've went in a new direction, so even if it's not a good "Hitman" game it'll be a good game on its own.
I Felt Max Payne 3 was amazing, and considering the same reviewer that gave Hitman a low score gave Max Payne 3 an even lower score also factored into my decision to keep Hitman.
max payne 3 not feeling like max payne, going in a different direction?
max payne 3 wasn't a different direction, not even close. sure the art style had been done up but the core gameplay was still there. if anything max payne 3 is like hitman absolution in that they kept the core game but added a bunch of new stuff to mix things up

Whilst I agree that the gameplay was pretty damn awesome, and the core game was there, the storyline wasn't so I guess it's kind of reversed here. Needless to say I loved Max Payne 3 anyways despite anyone who viewed it negatively for that reason. And I think Hitman should be a great game.
in essence it was still the same game just there were a bunch of awesome things like euphoria and improved dual wielding and stuff like that.
story and art direction are completely ascetic.
The way I see it, a story focused game stays in your brain for a few days, and then you forget the story. A gameplay focused game can stay with you for years, like Blood Money.
Obviously there's exceptions. Some games do story incredibly well. But I really don't think it's a stretch for me to say this won't be one of those games. It has forgettable story written all over it.
If the devs emphasize forgettable story over gameplay, then there's basically nothing left
It's important to remember that this is a new game, not Blood Money Plus.
As long as they have the good old formula of disguises and playing the mission your own way, then I'm going to enjoy the game.
Games change and evolve, sometimes little, sometimes a lot.
It'll probably not be so bad.
And besides I'd like to see them focus more on the story this time around. I'm probably not the only one that wants to know more about 47, Diana, the ICA and the Hitman universe.
I won't be watching any more gameplay videos from now on, and I won't be visiting this thread after the game is released. I want my story intact, thankyouverymuch.
Even if gameplay has changed a lot I'm not going to be bothered, since the "linear" sections looks and feels exactly like splinter cell chaos theory, and I love that game.

He actually gets behind the dudes, before shanking the shit out of them.
Also lead character artist for Absolution, Tom Isaksen, blogged about some characters he helped create.

"body found" in one of those vids, having a hard time believing that bodies disappear if hints like that come up.
So basically that PC gamer reviewer didn't get paid for the review so he just made up a bunch of bad stuff about the game so he could give it a low rating?
Although the AI seems stupid as heck and that kind of annoys me.

Either that or he's just a tremendous dick for some reason. Either way he's definitely making shit up.
But that guy playing could've been playing on an easy setting, seeing as he has buttloads of health.

I think most big-name reviewers play on easy to beat the game quicker and get the review out sooner, so that seems likely. Same thing happened with Spec Ops, IIRC.
I don't know if that guy's a reviewer tho, he's just doing youtube LP's.
Looks like I'll just buy this game when it's on sale.

I got this today for the PS3 (it's been leaked early in some stores already) and after playing for 4 hours all the early worries about it being similar to Splinter Cell Conviction are spot-on.
The open areas are very rare - one was even re-used twice - and even so they're very tiny, so don't expect anything the size of the first real level (i.e not the tutorial) of Blood Money. On the plus side, these areas do seem to give you a large variety of options on how to do things like in Blood Money.
I just reached Act 2 and most of the game so far has consisted of linear corridors where you go from Point A to Point B, similar to that police chase level that was shown in early previews. Once you reach point B a cutscene happens, the game saves and you get to repeat that again in another area. Your options here are:
- To gun everyone down, in which case it devolves into a terrible cover shooter with identical combat and AI as Kane & Lynch 2. The AI just sits back taking pot shots forever and never rushes you. No big deal if you like the series since Hitman has always had horrible combat and AI.
- To sneak around in your suit. This is extremely similar to Conviction except without the gadgets.
- To kill someone, take their disguise and make your way to the exit point. I haven't tried this too often so far since I prefer to have 47 sneak around, but when I did it was a question of walking around and making sure not to get too close to enemies, and if I had to walk near them use the Instinct feature to blend in and get past them as soon as I could.

3.It switches to cut scene when you approach the main target at the end of the mission and takes over the killing for you which is a bummer.
Hm. I guess that's that then.
Well i can only afford one game right now and so far its not looking pretty good.
For sure i will get the game some time later then, guess i will cancel the pre order and get ArmA 3
Wtf... is that true?
I pre-ordered this on Steam might mail them for a refund, my views on it has gone lower and lower, I might just wait till it drops in price and then buy it.
But the trailers in the library etc looked so good.. :(
I'm still on the fence, I don't know what to think.
The thing is, I've seen a few videos of people who played the game at events and they're saying it's good but then there's that PC Gamer Review and now this SomethingAwful thing.
I DONT KNOW WHAT TO THINK.
So many mixed emotions!
STOP CANCELLING YOUR PREORDERS.
I promise you, the cutscene killing of the first character was the only way to do it.
I just watched the guy play it on that channel that was just posted.
The story was pretty unconvincing... but ahem whatever.
I'm keeping this preordered, and I'm gonna enjoy it dammit.

PC gamer is complete ass, they can't suck my fat one.
Something Awful I don't trust either, it's full of trolls and internet fun guys.
I guess i'm going to try before buying instead of taking a chance.
I mean, I have no choice either way, my girlfriend bought me the game so even if it's bad, I'm going to have it.
I still have hopes, I find it hard to believe they'd fuck up that badly.
Agent 47 won't let me down.
Also Strogg, your 5000th post better be in this thread.
I've been watching some of the playthroughs, not whole levels, but tidbits from certain bits, and while some of the levels are small (in comparasion to BM that is, big in terms of size these days), it looks as good as I always thought it would be.
You have to remember as well, the story may alter levels slightly, but you always have Contracts mode to muck around in,
