Did you just reply to your own post?
I sure did big whoop wanna fight about it?
Absolution seems like it is going back to more Hitman 2 with all the infiltrating bases and all. A few levels, at least, but I have not played it.
I just hope we can disable the score showing on the lower difficulty levels so I can have some fun without seeing me getting punished for killing everyone.
lol who cares
Just in case some people overlooked this.
There are 259 WEAPONS in this game.
Fuck.

Well, Contracts Mode should be fun then with that variety.
Wait where are people getting that Absolution has zero public non-hostile areas? Several videos showed off tresspassing as a mechanic (aka going into a neutral zone to a hostile one), just like the old games.
I'm not sure who to believe. I like both Adam Sessler and Rock Paper Shotgun, but their reviews of the game are almost completely opposite of each other.
I think Sessler is a lot more forgiving about stuff. That being said I haven't read anything by RPS since ME3. From what I remember their review really only said negative stuff about the ending and their entire site was covered in ME3 ads.

Nope, can only have the base 7 Agency weapons that you can customize, then theres a selection for police weapons and special weapons from Hits throughout the game.
Some gameplay of the contracts tutorials:

Improvised weapons, bro.
You shouldn't save either.
It takes away the OH FUCK, I got spotted part away when you can just reload right away.
No fun in that.
To be honest, ive played through blood money many times, and ive only recently discovered what the ingame saves actually do, i've never had to use them, and i never will use them, its kind of like cheating.
I always saved because when i played Hitman i was trying to make it the perfect mission. Full of death, but not a single bullet wasted. I loved reading the newspaper saying how this was a professional deranged killer.
I would just load up saves until i got it just they way i wanted it. It made the game last longer too, so i wouldn't burn through it in a week.

I've come to notice that RPS reviews really linger on the bad aspects of games, as if they're outright terrible. But whenever I play a game that they hated, I end up liking it, and the flaws they talk about don't really bug me at all. In general they're very nit-picky and try super fucking hard to make a joke out of something.
Sessler's review is very quick and straight forward, and the way he talks about it seems like he really liked it and enjoyed most of every second of it, but he didn't go over many of the features of the game and seemed to just speed through the review as quickly as possible.
It'd be cool if he did a written review as well.
Whatever, I'm just gonna play the game and form my own opinion!
Rate me boxes if you are going to play on Purist with your first play through.

The even sadder thing is it turns out he used to work at my local game store in Sheffield
Anyone know if there's a bigger version of this image around? It's awesome looking.

Well, that is the total number of weapon unlocks, it's possible they are all weapons (there can be a shitload of melee weapons) but I won't be surprised if some of those unlocks are modifications to existing weapons.
Can you not customize weapons you find in the game with suppressors?

Here's a version without the logo, although the compression is really bad. Couldn't do anything about that.

I think Australia gets it in about ~14 hours
Ready up a VPN.
What do you guys think of my 47 voice?

I've been reading a ton of reviews, and I've formed my own opinion about the game. I own all of the Hitman games, but I've never played a single one (which is of course a travesty). So, I'm going into Absolution as a Hitman virgin.
I don't have any expectations as to how this will live up to previous Hitman games, and all I have is expectations on how much freedom of gameplay there is, and how the stealth aspect is. I feel like I'm going to love this game, and I know I will have a much different experience than Hitman fans will.
I understand that people who praised Blood Money are going to pick out everything that Absolution does wrong compared to Blood Money, and that's reasonable. From what I've heard Blood Money is more about absorbing all the information around you and coming up with a master plan on how to achieve a goal, and Contracts mode seems to fill that need, so there will be some intriguing levels created by others that will test your wits and instincts. The other side of the game is Stealth, which apparently wasn't as big a deal in past games since you could hide in plain sight, and Absolution is focusing a lot more on that than other Hitman games did.
Absolution looks like it wants to hit that growing market niche of stealth games like Mark of the Ninja, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, to a lesser extend Dishonored and the old Splinter Cell games where you feel like a predator but are prey at the same time, so you have to act carefully and kill when the time is right while hiding from those stronger than you.
Also, Absolution looks like it's trying to get both the casual crowd and the hardcore base at the same time, by advertising the shootouts and gunplay on easier difficulties to get those who want a good experience and the stealth and patience on the harder difficulties for those that want a good challenge. So, by trying to get the casual gamer market it's of course going to cost the game some of its appeal to hardcore gamers.
However, from what I've read and heard, the experience is fulfilling. Graphics, sound, voice acting, and set pieces are very engaging for those looking for an experience. The gunplay is tight for those looking for a shooter. The AI is for the most part superb for those that want a stealth game. Contracts is great for those that want a sandbox. It's not Blood Money, it's its own game, so hardcore Blood Money fans aren't going to find Blood Money 2.0, they're going to find a different, but still a Hitman game.
I do see some worrying things. The early parts of the game don't look too fun, when you're hiding from cops and whatnot. That's a fault, for me at least. Pacing is off there, I guess. It looks like the gameplay might jump wildly from stealth to hunt and to stealth+hunt, so those looking for a specific type of gameplay might not enjoy the other parts, and I feel that's because this game is trying to reach out to all audiences.
Overall, I'm glad I pre-ordered, and I think this game will be good.
[editline]18th November 2012[/editline]
Fuck, that's long.
Tl;dr This game looks good, it's reaching out to multiple audiences, it seems to have a bit of everything, it's not Blood Money
I just finished reading the Gamereactor Denmark review and it was really positive.
I feel like I can trust them and the reviewer (he has almost the same favourite games as I do, that has got to count for something) and it's not just because they are danish they give the game a positive review, as they haven't exactly been easy on any of IO's older games, nitpicking and bringing light on all the flaws, errors and design decisions.
What they said about Absolution:
The Good:
Beautiful graphics.
Gorgeus levels with great design.
Thousands of creative ways to kill people.
Lots of new and well functioning gameplay changes.
Contracts is an innovative gamplay mode with many possibilities.
The bad:
A rather bland story with a boring villain.
An uninspired weapon upgrade system.
An old fashioned checkpoint system.
The occational dull level.
And the Ugly:
Horrible looking cutscenes.
This is the only 9/10 they have given to an IO game since the very first Hitman game, although I haven't read a lot of their reviews the last couple of years, so I don't know if their grades have inflated all the way uo to IGN levels.
Do you think this will be part of the steam christmas sales ?
I kinda want to get this game and a couple of other titles but since games are so expensive (Most new games cost 50€ aka $63) I can't buy all of them at once. Christmas would be a good opportunity to get a good amount of games as gift but having them be at even 30€ instead of 50 would be amazing.

We do indeed.
Right now there's 12 hours left until release.
Yup. I just finished up my preload about 5 minutes ago and got myself an Australian VPN working and ready. Hyped as fuck.
I must be the only person in the thread who has no plans on using a VPN, I'm not actually going to play it on the 20th either as i'm saving this game for after i beat the walking dead ep 5.

I don't plan on using a VPN. :v:
Is using a VPN really safe? It seems like that Valve wouldn't like that idea, I did it once a while ago for Assassin's Creed, but I stayed in offline mode, it seems like you'd need online or something for this but idk.
