Holy fuck balls, just beat the orphanage without getting spotted, using disguises or killing anybody. It was only hard difficulty, but I spent like 5 hours on this mission alone. Wish there were more checkpoints in that level, but I felt ecstatic after winning it.
Also, in hard mode at least, if you're in a disguise and somebody of the same outfit is looking at you, if they can't see your face then they don't get suspicious. I don't know if it's any different in the harder difficulties but I tried it in the strip club on the guards there and as long as they couldn't see my face I wouldn't get the yellow marker. Also in the train level when you're in the crowds the same thing applies, just make sure you've got a person in between you and the police.
And the disguise you choose adds a lot of tactics to it, like when you return to China town. Do I get a cop outfit to slip past all the Chinese cooks or do I grab a cook costume to waltz past the cops? I ended up staying with a cook outfit and at one point there was a section filled with only cops and I just walked to the exit. but, on some previous areas and when I was in the main area I had to stay away from cooks and make sure they didn't see my face.
I like the disguise system honestly, it's more realistic and challenging, but then again I've never played a previous Hitman so I don't know if that disguise system is more fun.
if i remember correctly any disguise got you anywhere that wasnt restricted and nobody gave a fuck if you were in disguise they never checked but you ran/ did anything suspicious they get suspicious
I don't know... It makes some sense I guess when you're infiltrating a building and all the guards know each other, same with the police squad. But when I'm just a cook walking down the street of a night market, I shouldn't have to worry about the other chefs catching onto me because A) It's incredibly unrealistic for them to be able to catch onto me when they are that busy. I mean they are yelling random shit at 30 people right in front of them, waving their arms around, doing all sorts of crazy Chinese cooking, but at a mere glance 20 feet away and they can see through my disguise? And not even that, how are they even able to tell I'm not really a chef? I mean it's not like the vendors actually work together, they just set up on the street and cook. Unless there is some sort of secret chef's guild they are inducted into, and that's how they know each other, they really shouldn't take notice at all.
I think it's because you're a stone cold white guy chef in China town. Pretty sure there aren't any white chefs in Chinatown.

That shouldn't matter though. A white guy can make Chinese food surprise surprise. Even if it is a little suspicious, would a street vendor really give that much of a shit to stop his business to confront someone about not being a cook?

And not even that, I was standing as a chef, in front of another chef, staring face to face with a pamphlet, but as soon as I put it down SOUND THE MOTHA FUCKIN' ALARMS
I don't understand why you lose points for trespassing? If the score is supposed to represent how good or pure of a hitman you are, why would trespassing take away from that?
I think it's if you are spotted trying to trespass.
I don't understand why you lose points for trespassing? If the score is supposed to represent how good or pure of a hitman you are, why would trespassing take away from that?
You don't lose points for trespassing. You lose points for getting spotted.
Normal and Hard difficulty seem like the best to me. Easy is too easy, anything above hard is just artificial difficulty and not fun IMO.
Although I did have some fun on Purist, I gave up on it at the Terminus mission. Fucking total shit I tell you.
oh wow. Blackwater Park makes all the other levels look like a fucking jollywalk on purist. guards fucking everywhere
I have to spin in circles really quickly because more often than not I'm surrounded by guards. Example of this when you are at the train station waiting for the train, I literally just spun in a circle for a minute until the train arrived and I booked it on. Not suspicious at all.
Not exactly too hard, but quite fun.

Still gotta love the tie physics
oh wow. Blackwater Park makes all the other levels look like a fucking jollywalk on purist. guards fucking everywhere
and then countdown
A couple of contracts:
Hazard Pay
3-1140-716489-CERE
Mr. Jakey Stephens is planning to ship a large quantity of landmines across the Mexican border to be used by drug cartels.
Two truck drivers, Harry Wents and Hank Herris have agreed to drive the hardware from the factory, across the border under the guise of dinnerware - in exchange for a cut of the profits.
We have been paid to prevent this deal.
Bad Break
3-0330-720960-CERE
Cooking in this apartment building was a bad idea. Now the cops are breaking in and I have to get out of here, no time to change out of this suit. The guy in the ticket booth must have reported us after saying to our faces that he wouldn't.
And B) doesn't it kind of completely defeat the whole purpose of disguises? As far as I can tell being disguised only has come useful in just a few situations, most of the time now I just keep my suit and sneak past everyone. Because from what I can tell right now, if I'm going to be spotted, I'm going to be spotted, doesn't matter if I was dressed up as a cop or a giant rubber chicken.
Disguises basically just decrease the amount of time it takes to be spotted. For example if you were to go into a hostile area or trespass and you are dressed as a guard, it will take longer for other guards to see through your disguise rather than them taking a glance and spotting you instantly if you weren't disguised, at least from what I can tell. I wish the disguise meter didn't continuously build up from a distance, but crouching down behind an object to quickly reset it works out for me.
Having posted that... How on earth do you even use contract codes?
Having posted that... How on earth do you even use contract codes?
Should be an option in the filters menu.
Should be an option in the filters menu.
Bah, if only you could just paste them in there.
Bah, if only you could just paste them in there.
Copy it and then paste it in the change username box on the steam in-game settings. Then you can look at it anytime.

I admire your creativity but what would Drug Cartels use landmines for? :v:
anyone know anything about sales for absolution? I want to buy it but 50 bucks is a bit much for me right now.

Blowing stuff up. What else can mines be used for?
I think that from the jail onwards, the game starts becoming way more corridor-like and it's still fun as hell but it's getting so much harder to go through levels full of guards, especially in [sp]Absolution, the last level. I can't even get through that cemetery at all, there's no cover and sniping the ones near the holes is only so useful.[/sp] Overall though, I love the game and think it's one of my favorites this year.

It will probably be on sale during the Christmas sales.

Well yeah but Drug Cartels don't seem like the type of people who'd need area-denial devices, but maybe that's just me.

Drug Cartels control large areas of land and often have to keep the country's military and/or police away from their territory.
More free roam, a lot of fun ways to kill your target, disguises worked, and all the missions had contracts. I like absolution, but I would have enjoyed more levels like Chinatown where not everyone is constantly looking for you and you can roam freely looking for fun ways to take out the target. To me, this game has way too many "get from point A to point B undetected" missions rather than actual hitman missions.
I feel the complete opposite. I hated the chinatown mission. So much. But every level after that is so much better.

Wait till you get to operation sledgehammer.
The new disguise system is very realistic, but it's not very fun. If you completely switch it out with the older disguise system, though, it's not as challenging. At the least, I really wish it was toned down. I am sure not all the mercenaries know exactly who their teammates look like, and especially not be able to recognize them from 20 feet away.
It's not broken, but it needs some tweaking.
