Hitman series Megathread - "Names are for friends, so i don't need one"

I haven't beaten the game yet but so far here are some things I dislike and think they should improve on:
First I dislike how conversations between characters are only triggered by walking through specific doorways. For example, in The Attack of the Saint's mission where you start in the back of the front desk if you walk through the doorway the AI will begin a conversation, but if you use the vent to the right instead you could loop back around and the AI will stand there forever and wont go to their designated routes if you were to trigger it. I've noticed this in Lenny's hangout when you use the barber disguise if you go into the main area near the pizza Lenny will instantly start speaking to you (from across the room sometimes) which triggers him to go to barber chair so you cant sedate him by putting sleeping pills on his pizza.

I also hate how many points get taken off your score for being spotted, the negative impacts aren't really an issue but it always makes me feel like I'm not supposed to get caught so I end up restarting right when I'm spotted. They should have at least made it so if you killed the person who spotted you silently when they run to tell a guard or alert anyone else, you would gain back those points. It's not like everyone on the map is aware that he saw you, and if he is dead he cant alert anyone else. I really don't like how once one guy spots you and he follows you around, he can still sort of see where you are even when hide behind cover or you turn corners to corner grab him and he will stand just a little bit away from you and stare at you.
I am very disappointed with the lack of variety in the kill animations for objects and melee weapons. In blood money there were 2 or 3 animations for each weapon when you would sneak up on them and in Absolution there is only one "Direct" kill animation and silent kill animation per weapon, and a few of them are reused. I miss being able to sneak up and bust open someones skull with a hammer or violently stab someone in the back with hedge clippers. I like how they have animations for direct kills now but it's always the same, stab them in the stomach in the same spot or choke them out with a baseball bat. They could of at least added an animation to bash the back of their head in. Overall I really like how the gameplay feels, it's a nice mixture of fast fluid cinematic action and slow sneaky stealth, and if you know the maps well it ends up making you feel like a total bad ass pulling off missions in one run. I don't like the direction they took the game in story wise, all the levels are tailored for story only, not like in blood money where you were just working for the agency taking on contracts and getting a brief summary of who the target is. The levels were open allowing the player more freedom as to where you could go or snipe from, in Absolution the level design reflects how story driven they wanted it to be. They made them too linear and the layout half of the time only allows you to go in one direction. It feels like they spent all this time just working on the new engine and then hastily putting the story together.
What I would really like to see in upcoming DLC are more larger open maps for contracts mode with multiple open buildings and areas populated with random AI and sub characters. It's kinda getting old playing some of the contacts made on the more linear sections of the campaign.
I'm so disappointed with this.. Hitman has always been one of my favorite games. And Blood Money is one of the best games ever.
but this game is just trash.. I mean. It has so much potential, but they fucked up
beat it
that was a really cool and interesting game. i liked it a lot. i think i'll try blood money I guess
but as far as stealth games go i still think mgs is a lot cooler. obviously it's very different, but i think you could squeeze them into the same genre.
tactical stealth and shit.
Be prepared for a completely different experience, blood moneys execution of story is very different to absolutions. Its not a bad game, its great but you have to accustom to dumber ai, worse combat and way more disguising since that actually is a legitimate tactic in BM

in Absolution I really feel like I want to shoot people and usually do that after getting silent assassin
The one mission with 7 targets is your proof. Are you fucking serious? Play either Chinatown mission killing everyone and see if you get near 100,000. Play Blackwater Park and go on a shooting spree. Play Terminus, Run for Your Life, Streets of Hope.
Don't cherry pick the one fucking mission with 7 targets and say "Well you can get 100,000 points by getting into shootouts". So fucking what, you can get almost 1 million points if you get a silent assassin rank, your example means shit.
I looked just now and I saw that I was wrong on how the scoring works, I concede that point.
I'm not going to judge the game yet, but so far I'm not really enjoying the run from the cops parts. And I'm already missing the ultra cool and varied locations you visited in Blood Money.
I don't understand the ranking system. I knocked out a guy, hid him, took his clothes, and got away. Professional. Then I knocked out a guy, hid him, took his clothes, garrotted my target, hid him, and got away. Silent assassin.
How does this shit work?
[editline]24th November 2012[/editline]
Ah, it seems you can only get SA on missions with a target. Cool!
Well that's strange. I'm on Skurky's Law and it appears that my disguise is being seen though even when using instinct and yes I do have a full bar of it.
I keep having issues where in-game cutscenes freeze and lag. It's gotten so bad that I can't advance past [sp]killing Wade[/sp] because the cutscene will freeze, and the game will close.
Anyone know of a fix?
After I have completed this I am going back to play blood money.
Some of the levels in that fucking game rock.

It's not supposed to be Blood Money 2 like the other people who hate this game say about it. Try playing on purist (if you haven't already), it feels a lot better than the other Hitman games, and it's a hell of a lot harder than any of them once you get past the first 2 missions. This is coming from someone who's beaten nearly every Hitman game on Professional with all silent assassin ratings, I had a more difficult but enjoyable time with this game than the other ones. For some strange reason I'm not used to playing with the hud on at all, except for contracts. But when doing story missions I need to play on purist.

Maybe the reason it's not Blood Money 2 is why they are disappointed? Write a post saying you love this game and nobody cares, but if someone thinks it's bad they're retarded and wrong.
Well I just beat the game. [sp]As predictable as that should have been I didn't see it coming for some reason. Glad to see it ended on a open note, because I want more.[/sp]
Well that's true, everyone has certain opinions on all kinds of games, but I've gotten into way too many arguments recently where the person tries to convince me the game is shit despite the fact I have my own opinion and they have theirs.

He police officer uniform from the court only works there and no where else
How exactly do the disguises work? I mean im playing on normal, i kill someone, take their clothes and then hide the body. Perfect nobody saw it. Then i go and walk past someone and he spots me. It takes away like a thousand score because i have a "suspicious disguise". And i cant get away. I cant use instinct i cant do anything to get away i have to kill the guy or restart. Why?

Once you've been spotted, you can't use instinct to fool the guy anymore, you gotta either get away and hide or kill the guy who spotted you.
Also running will immediately blow your cover if you're under suspicion.
Does Absolution have it so that you can't take disguises from people who bled? (Like in HnD2)

You have to use opposite disguises to an area, goon ridden area with 1 or 2 janitors around? take a janitor disguise because there's less people that will know the "skin" you're wearing

Sounds sensible

The game is more action/evasion focused this time around, a disguise won't hold up under scrutiny from an NPC wearing the same outfit so you have to use it like a powerup that causes the NPCs to not instantly get on your case just from looking at you. Instinct only works if you use it before the suspicion meter caps out, so only use it if you need to walk right past a guy close range or if you're making your way between cover and you're about to be discovered by a guard. If you grab an outfit that is rare in a level, like the Judge outfit in a later mission, you can walk around cock slapping cops and they won't even bat an eyelid because NPCs will really only react to you if you are wearing the same outfit as them or are walking in a restricted area with the wrong outfit.
Does anyone know if you unlock anything cool by playing the game through on the highest difficulty?
Just completed a play through and got silent assassin on most levels, I just don't see the point in playing through again on the highest difficulty if I get nothing from it.
What's the difference between "Shadow" and "Silent Assassin"?
What's the difference between "Shadow" and "Silent Assassin"?
I'm not entirely sure, I never took much notice, all i know is that silent assassin is when you are basically invisible, you kill no one but your target and don't get spotted or raise any suspicion.
He police officer uniform from the court only works there and no where else
No I'm using the disguises available in the jail.
Fffffuck the part after [sp]the county jail. ICA guys everywhere herp de durr enjoy being spotted[/sp]
Fffffuck the part after [sp]the county jail. ICA guys everywhere herp de durr enjoy being spotted[/sp]
It's not that hard once you know the routes, the first bit for example has a ledge just to the right that lets you easily skip to right near the end.
Streets of Hope
Kill the first 2 guys with fibrewire undetected
Kill the final guy with sniper rifle
Distract cop who is in front of a repair-shop so i can exit the level
The fucking mechanic just walked around the corner, spotted me and dropped my score with 1,200 scores and i loose me Silent Assassin status

I Just ended up exploiting throwing my metal pipe i had with me so they just keept on going to the same spot and i subdued them. had a nice 10 corpses pile. :v:
did anyone else noticed on the patriot hangar mission, that if you were discovered and you ran away and hide in a box they instantly knew you were in that box even though no one was even near you when you entered it?
Are you allowed to subdue targets for a silent assassin rank?
