you know why the levels are small? the Devs took out all that useless space noone ever uses in those levels. they simply optimized the level design. the only thing that made those levels bigger were the areas practically noone would even have a reason to be.
lol ok. So making half the levels into corridors is just optimization, gotcha. Seeing as the devs themselves said the game was limited by the dated console hardware, I think they would probably disagree
My post wasn't really a reply to yours, just a thought :v:
I know, I was just saying. Am I not allowed to say?
lol what? that's just not true. Even the Chinatown level (which is one of the open ones) is smaller then a lot of Blood Money levels. Keep in mind that Absolution's levels may feel bigger while playing them because the camera is a lot more zoomed in on 47, and there's no map, so it's hard to gauge the scale of it while you're in it. But they really are quite small for the most part
By level I meant the whole level, not just the small section the hit takes place in. So yes, Chinatown is bigger than a lot of Blood Money's levels. Plus most of Blood Meny had huge areas of wasted space. Sections NPCs very rarely went, or places where there was nothing valuable at all. Half the White House mission is empty rooms. The river boat is mostly useless guest rooms you never go in. Absolution trimmed the fat from the levels and put more detail into what was there, rather than having empty rooms in every level.
I got it from pre-ordering
No, there really is a way to get it free, I've found some instructions on Reddit for those who don't have it. http://www.reddit.com/r/GameDeals/comments/13pq2x/

Sure there are other more linear levels that take place before and after the hit, but what's really the point in playing those? They offer nothing but cover to cover stealth gameplay. I'd say those linear levels are a much worse case of wasted space then a few empty rooms in some of Blood Money's levels.

Instead of filling in that empty unused space with logical territory, you reduce the size of a level to the point where it's size matches the space required to allow for 3-4 ways of making a signature kill. In effect removing the element of exploration and discovery, removing the potential usefulness of making multiple disguise changes, removing the opportunity to have more complex setups for signature kills. That is, not taking a step forward. Besides, I can't speak for you, but I personally am not a fan of the tiny hit areas, there are multiple ways to make a hit in most of the final areas, but too often every possibility is within such a close range of another that it's never really a matter of figuring out what you need to do to set up the kill, it's merely a choice of which mind numbingly easy method of making the hit do you want to pick. The chinatown level near the start being an example I saw used earlier, you can kill the dude with that hanging dolly, push him down a hole, poison him, lure him to his car and kill him there. But why one over the other? You can setup each in a matter of seconds after having a brief walk around the area, neither really feel rewarding. This is my personal opinion though, you may very well have found this compact placement of opportunities rewarding and I have no real problem with that, but for me I just feel apathetic towards any of the options. One exception though, is [sp]the tribal poison that's hidden in the laser tripwire room when killing the secretary, I thought that was a pretty neat little area and the way she kills herself from the poison was surprisingly amusing, probably the only real memorable death in the game for me[/sp]

A New Life is a tiny level, about the same size as Chinatown in this game, but that level actually makes you explore and work for the kill, and it certainly doesn't point you towards anything. This game seems to go "Look! Here's the accident kill!", and it all just feels rather empty.

The closest you get is on easy difficulty where a hint might say something about a fall being dangerous or a weight eing heavy.

I've been getting that a lot. I just restart steam and it usually goes back to normal.

Whats the best way to get the Court Usher outfit on the Courthouse level? Trying to get it without being spotted, and he won't stop going in areas with lots of people.
Whats the best way to get the Court Usher outfit on the Courthouse level? Trying to get it without being spotted, and he won't stop going in areas with lots of people.
I got it in the [sp]library, after I turned off the video so everyone was dispersed.[/sp]

Sweet. If you use the needle on enemies you don't kill them, so you lose 260 points for pacification, but you also get 353 points for a silent 'kill'. So if you use the needle and knock people out and hide their bodies you get 353* points more than you would any other way. So anyone going for high scores, find needles. *For some reason on Expert I'm getting 345 points for a silent kill when I use the garrotte, but I get 353 when I use the needle. ADDENDUM: The Silent Kill score seems to vary. I have 8 silent kills and 2,880 points from it, which should be 360 points per kill, though Some kills were definitely lower.
hahah wow, on the King of Chinatown I just kicked the guy down the hole while 3 cops were looking at me, (the 1 on the left of it and the 2 on the right) and I got Silent Assassin.
Decided to go the Tin Foil Hat guy way into the Prison instead.
That sounds kind of fun, how does it work?
That sounds kind of fun, how does it work?
[sp]The guard on the second floor will start the tape on the computer and walk out, just walk up to the compy and distrupt it, then run to the male restroom and hide in the closet there. The defendant will walk in after a bit and try to break out, just subdue him and take his clothes.[/sp]

My little brother suggested to take a shotgun to the face of the thug threatening one of the vendors in one of the alleyways. I decide to do this for fun, and thinking that the sound of all the firework going on will drown out the sound of a Shotgun blast. I take the shot just when the thug is about to kill the vendor, he flies beautifully in a pit behind him. Get the heck out of the alleyway, concealed my Shotty, mass panic in the entire level suddenly, the entire crowd goes apeshit and within three minutes, the entire crowd had left the map. Leaving only the puzzled vendors without any crowd to attend to, and some cautious cops. Made the last target easy, as I could just throw a remote explosive over a wall right next where he was standing. The few NPC's that were left didn't even go in to find out where the explosion came from. Memorable Silent Assassin gained.
What the fuck did just happened In the Factory there is this pig mine test area, i did for shit and giggles shooting Dr Green from a long distance with my Silverballers but when the guard rushes down this happened: A ! symbol jumped across the screen and after jumping to the right a few times it fell and there was blood coming from it Picture of it coming up, only shows the bleeding ! Just got to the Attack of the [sp]saints[/sp] mission. I get 1-2 shot now. :v: So I am basically forced to go stealth now.

Or it is IO's idea of an obscure easter egg.

Oh my, maybe i am the first to discover this. I feel special :v:
Bloody hell I'm trying the bar brawl and I can't believe how horrible this quick time event is now that I'm actually trying to use it. It's one of the worst designed features I have ever seen in a video game.

FUCK! I did so fucking well on the orphanage. I got to the steam tunnels, got spotted. Okay, I'll just restart the checkpoint. Wait... why am I watching a cutscene? I'm at the start of the level! Why would you put those 2 options right next to each other?
If you go to the main menu and select continue it takes you to the furthest point, so you'll be back in the steam tunnels.
The trick is that you have to ram in Q multiple times whenever it shows up in a QTE.
This explains a lot.

I'll try to be non-descript of who's who. +Snuck up to the top floor of the Diner with a drug dealer hanging out there, find rifle and target. Let him finish coffee, take shot into back of head. He drops into the pit, alerting the guard standing next to him and four more near the Diner. Hide Dealer and I in closet. Cops show up, root around, start to leave; one stays. Sneak out and wire his ass until he drops to the floor. Disguise and sneak out. +Sneak over to Target's car, being guarded by a Cop, wait for him to leave post. Follow, subdue, infiltrate. I take his clothes and hide the body atop a Catwalk area, find explosives. Hmm. Take detonator, beat shit out of Target's car like a mad man. Run behind cover and wait. Target arrives and begins screaming "Who hit my car? Why you hit my car?!" Detonate, cool fucking explosion behind. Target distracted, half the block notices. Run up single baller, two shots to the back, mouth covered. Drag to dumpster, get noticed by civilian dumping body, hide in it with him until things cool down. No one checks the dumpster. Escape when they do by changing back and walking out in style.
