I dont want to bitch, but it's kinda dick move to state that the only thing you can get banned for is modyfing core files, and then you get banned for exploit.
It was cooler the way it happened. "Oh, they can't ban me. They're just trying to scare me," is what you were probably thinking. Then they kicked your ass.
I dont want to bitch, but it's kinda dick move to state that the only thing you can get banned for is modyfing core files, and then you get banned for exploit.
They also state you can be banned for cheating/ruining the enjoyment of others, as stated in the EULA there have been clips of earlier in the thread, and using an exploit is cheating
Btw, how did the Valve Employee, that banned him, know that he was using 3rd party stuff?
Btw, how did the Valve Employee, that banned him, know that he was using 3rd party stuff?
the fact that he was A) moving faster then should be, and B) his client likely reported the variables for timescale as being set differently to the variables set on the server.
He may have been owner of the server.
He may have been owner of the server.
And you don't think someone from valve can see if someone is admin of a server? this is just the same arguments from earlier, what ifs, what ifs.
I think the cannot, since there is no way of seeing who has which rights in sourcemod.
I think the cannot, since there is no way of seeing who has which rights in sourcemod.
There is nothing saying the server was running sourcemod, the sourcemod part was run on Jag's computer, also the server in question shows who it's staff is on the website, a quick web page lookup would show Jag was not admin, however this is not the case, the case is he wasn't, you can play could beens all you want.
I dont want to bitch, but it's kinda dick move to state that the only thing you can get banned for is modyfing core files, and then you get banned for exploit.
You need to modify and add DLLs to speedhack. That counts as modifying core files.
Hey everyone Valve can do what ever they like, they own the game, all rights to it, steam and the rights to that too. Simply put, stop whining about being banned from a game by an employee from the company that made that game. also, i know nothing of how these hacks or mods work, still looks like cheating, because, as so many people have stated, you negatively affected someone else's experience of the game and gained an unfair advantage on a server that you were not an admin on or did not own. You have no right to complain. You cheated. You were caught. Grow up and move on.
I tried to get Valve's advice on this to just end the argument once and for all but they basically told me they couldn't answer me... Anywhere, here's the link to my ticket if there's something useful I managed to miss. https://support.steampowered.com/view.php?ticketref=9923-YAJB-9812
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! What are the chances? Playing a game of tf2 when a valve employee is in the game watching you use a sourcemod exploit.
This thread is no longer about me trying to get unbanned, since it's not happening, it's more about awareness of the flaws of VAC and how a developer could add anyone for any or no reason whatsoever. You say something a developer doesn't like and they're having a bad day? Ban.
AHAhahahAHAHA! You cheated, he banned you. As simple as that. Don't cheat next time.
You broke the rules, and you were punished accordingly. What's so hard to understand? Why should we have any sympathy for you?
Also to the people who are defending the OP as-well, it's likely that you are cheaters also
I've never used any sort of client sided enhancement in a game. Let alone a Valve game. I hardly even use weapon retextures.
I've never used any sort of client sided enhancement in a game. Let alone a Valve game. I hardly even use weapon retextures.
Its funny because this isnt cheating. [img_thumb]http://www.zilefile.com/files/6845_sbuy7/hl2%202009-05-20%2016-06-18-04.jpg[/img_thumb]

I'll copy+paste the ticket then. 1 « Message by you on Wed, 12th May 2010 12:44 pm » Over on the Facepunch forums we are having a discussion about VAC bannable offenses. (http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=935780&page=1) Sourcemod is a plugin that Valve has decided to not ban people for using since servers use it. Jag (the original poster of that topic) got VAC banned for using an exploit with Sourcemod that allowed him to change CVars on someone elses server that apparently had a Valve employee on it. According to the chatlogs the employee got Jag VAC banned for speedhacking. My question is: Is exploiting Sourcemod this way a VAC bannable offense? We're kinda split down the middle on this one and I thought maybe some information from the Source would help to calm things down. 2 « Message by Chaz on Thu, 13th May 2010 1:35 pm » Hello Andrew, Thank you for contacting Steam Support. We do not provide analysis of third party software for VAC compliance. Any third party software you use in conjunction with Steam should be done at your own discretion. The VAC system does not generate false-positives. Only cheats (modifications designed to give one player an advantage over other players) will trigger a VAC ban. If you have questions about a specific third party application, please contact the developer of the application for assistance.
My question is: Is exploiting Sourcemod this way a VAC bannable offense?
Jag got VAC banned didnt he?
Yes, Jag did.
Yes, Jag did.
So there is the answer to his question.
Jag got VAC banned didnt he?
Manually, apparently. Not the normal automatic ban.
hey, maybe if there's enough coverage of this (kotaku?) valve will reverse their ban. IMO it's retarded, it's a 3rd party servermod and they have an exploit they failed to fix. you shouldn't be banned for that by VALVE, it's the admins job. if you used an actualy cheat program then yeah
What? That's bullshit. A server mod causes bans? What is this blasphemy? I want proof. There is no way Valve could act so brash towards something like this.
Its not a Server mod, its a server mod being loaded client side to use locked cvars clientside.
I was trying to get an official answer on it.
