It's mostly populated by hipsters who put nostalgia over fun because they want to feel like special snowflakes and be superior to everyone else.

SYSTEM OF THE YEAR PREORDERED!" got me dumbstormed and replies calling me a shithead for being concerned over a product. Not a single person argued a point or talked about it, just shit posts everywhere. People were actually defending Aliens for awhile too. It's why I've mostly moved over to SA and only stop by here time to time to see what's new.

It's going to hivemind if you post on a ps3-geared thread similar to how /r/atheism comments can basically circlejerk over atheism, but there are people that will actually have a civilized debate if the other person is willing to. I'm sure /v/ could be the same, although I don't go to 4chan as much as I used to in the past so I wouldn't know. I don't go on SA so I can't talk about experiences there either. I'm not gonna generalize every forum by just 1 section, but I'd say every forum has parts they aren't proud of.
