I know that this is a bit late, but i think that the zombies should be run-limping....like a zombie.
Or not to run at all, but to spam zombiez in medium-ish places
Description:
[release]Well yeah, this shit is overdone, but I want to create something similar to World at War and Black Ops Nazi Zombies, using the Source engine.
No plot, the plot is map based. Basically, gameplay can be described in a few short words. Run, shoot, kill, get money, buy weapons, buy upgrades, shoot more and finish the level.
Here is some progress I have made on recreating the zombies (don't flame on 'stolen' models, I take no rights for them and they will be fully credited on release. also I made the model of the headless zombie).[/release]

[release]
Progress #1, make the zombies run.
Well, since it's impossible to override the npc movement trough code (possible but a real pain in the ass), I had to recompile the npc model, including in it the male animation. (I have made custom animations but mdldecompiler fucks up the movement data.

Progress #2, chop zombies head off.
This one was pretty easy actually, just had to create a custom headless zombie model, and spawn a gib, which is the zombie head.

Progress #3, spray blood.
Added DispatchParticleEffect and attached it to the head bone of the model using bonemerge. (yes I need to recreate the particle effect).

I AM RECREATING EVERYTHING. Apparently, teamwork isn't a nice word in Source modding.

What was the point in that?
There's a post in there:

Dem raping hands.
is there some way you could make it so that headshots don't always cause them to get decapped and continue walking? so that it only happens some of the time, but not always? if you understand my retarded explanation skills

I did understand your retardation. And it's already working that way, if the headshot is damaged in interval of 40-70 the head will chop off. if no, die.
Source engine no more.
I am making it a standalone game.

Gottam all
Do you think this will make development a much easier process for you guys, or will it be a bit of a learning curve?
Do you think this will make development a much easier process for you guys, or will it be a bit of a learning curve?
I believe it's gon be a lot easier, because we build everything, rather than have to learn all the classes and learn how to use them all.
estimated release 2014
dammit now i have to pay
will it be freeware?
You're making a standalone game thats based off another game? I hope that you wont make it cost money or you will probably get a lawsuit.
I'm no good of a modeler, I would be glad to help, because I love the idea of this game, but I don't know if I am this game's type of quality judging from the picture of those arms, here is an example of my work:

There is a more finalized version of the texture, but that would be polishing the model farther than I had made it, so I'll just give an AO map.
I would prefer if you'd not be too harsh, but do as you have to.
That looks very thick and not very sharp, is it supposed to be a blunt weapon?
That looks very thick and not very sharp, is it supposed to be a blunt weapon?
It may be the angle which makes it look blunt, but the blade and the knife aren't two different colors, that's shading because of the AO. Lol, the thickness comes from the fact that it's a Bowie knife. It's supposed to be large. Sorry about the lack of a portfolio, I don't have many finished models.
[editline]23rd January 2011[/editline]
Here is a unrendered (sorry) in-program shot of the knife's blade.

It isn't my best or most recent model (It's my second model in Blender), I did it about a year ago, it's my most finished model, and in my own personal opinion, my best one.
This looks cool

Based on which game? The idea will be explained in the pre-release tech demo.

great, im outta here.
I never liked the source engine combined with zombies so this is way more interesting now for me on another engine! Let's see where this is going!

Torque3D is a great engine from personal experience, it should turn out great.

Torque3D is great and all. But I prefer working on a new one with my friend.
Looks nice, can i beta test to?
Lol, it's a two man project and they had already gotten that far before switching to a standalone engine. He said I could join though, so I guess it's a 3-man project,
