I am currently working on the default half life 2 wood boards to be 'animated' into position, and zombies break trough them.

Zombies go to the player no matter if he's in their sight or not.
answer to edit: Zombies will be able to jump down, but not climb.

The point is to keep the player in combat. You want a break? Then kill all the zombies that round.
I still think it would be better if you ran off and hid somewhere and gangs of them started hunting for you, then when one finds you, they all attack you.
Make an alternate gamemode like zombie master, but focused on defense, so the master would need to use his resources and deploy special zombie types (Dogs, Crows and that sort of thing) and use other limited tools (Lightning strikes, fire, smart zombie that he could impersonate and etc) to make the humans fall as quickly as possible and prevent them from winning (if possible).
It's a fun alternative so people won't get bored of your mod, and don't forget to make interesting player models that you can choose, like US presidents, celebrities and anything else funny and remarkable.
If you make a couple of fun gamemodes for this, it will be definitely the better zombie mod for source, the classic Wacky Zombie survival thing is already a great start.

Kinda late to respond, but I was alluding to the effect the community that played Zombie Master had on the mod, most notably the countless number of high quality maps, and how hopefully the same effect will take place with this mod. Not to disrespect the mod developers, who I'm sure will put forth quality work, but the longevity of a multiplayer mod like this depends on the community's willingness to put work into the mod once its been released.
Though I probably shouldn't be talking about that this early into its development, I am very excited to see it finished and become part of that community that will hopefully help keep the mod going for a long time.

I wouldn't mind a nazi zombie rip off as long as it is still fun.
Ammo portion of the HUD is pretty bare compared to the left side.
Also I might be able to help when it comes to mapping.

alternativley, make a large func_illusionary around the map w/ a grey texture, set it to disable shadows and your fog should blend perfectly.

I made a simple bare arm and working on some different hand skins, the vert groups and bone assignments are the same as valves so whoever's animating or if your just using valve defaults all animations should translate nicely.
Working on a new HUD for the ammo display.
