The violent approach didn't impress me all that much. He took out guards with explosives on one floor, yet the guards a floor above didn't hear them?

Guards in the next room didn't hear them

The owner of the brothel did say that the building was 'heavily soundproofed'.
I'll be extremely disappointed if this game doesn't turn out to be GOTY material.

Unless some levels don't play out this way and other missions you have will play out a similar scenario very differently due to this... it just sounds like an excuse for bad AI to me
"Hmm, our AI sucks pretty bad, and/or we decided to design the AI to be very video-gamey, lets just say they can't hear outside of rooms due to sound proofing!"

Arx Fatalis was great, Dark Messiah was amazing, hopefully the trend will continue.

I honestly don't think it'd be that difficult a problem to rectify. I mean I'm no programmer, but I don't think it'd be too tricky to switch the state of all npcs within a certain radius to alert.

Personally, I think they needed a setup for an awesome moment, but didn't want it to ruin the rest of the level, so they decided to make it that way so you can enjoy both.
This game looks like a total mess. What are you supposed to do? Nothing makes any sense! I love this game already :v:
Oh my god, 103 days left until UK release, it's so close I can taste it! uuuuuuu
I am preordering this the second it shows up on steam (It'd better show up on steam)
Sorry for a bump, but RPS have made a new playthrough article

I hate when I am the only one trying to keep a thread alive
Not sure if this was brought up before, but I got the Thief Collection during the summer sale, and this game, or at least it's setting, seems like sort of a spiritual successor to it.
Next time I'm in town, I'm pre-ordering the shit out of this. Anything with the creators of Thief AND the art director from Half-Life 2 I will buy any day.

I'm trying not to spoil the game for myself.

This game is too violent for me, but those possession things are just awesome! You could possess... A... Something! Anything! EVERYTHING!

you have fetish for possessing a fish and then wanking off your fishy dick dont you
Holy fuck this game looks brilliant. I've been waiting for a game structured similar to thief and other titles inspired by it to come by again, and this seems to be it.
Feel like installing The Dark Mod for Doom 3 now and ghosting a fan mission
Combat seems similar to Bioshock
