Yet another, it seems [hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nynNIqQ1_bc[/hd]
I decided to pre-order. It's coming pretty soon and so far I'm loving what I'm seeing. I'm no fan of steampunk, but luckily this game's art style isn't all about it. Also what's the free game that comes with it? Is it any good?

My Arx Fatalis kept crashing with a "memory error" or something. Any way of fixing that?

Real freedom, meaningful choices that change the storyline, stealth system, different playstyles, different ways of solving a lot of the plot's problems. Plus the world has an incredible atmosphere. I loved every bit of that game.

http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/09/21/dishonored-clues-hints/ Oh wow
http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/09/21/dishonored-clues-hints/ Oh wow
Hopefully they had a wide enough demographic of testers that were for the most part actually competent. The problem with a lot of companies nowadays is they hire testers who are legitimately shit at playing games or don't actually care about them as much as some. With a game like this I'd find it hard to blame level design. Since it's not linear it isn't possible to pull off the L4D/Condemned ethic of dressing up certain areas (in those two games, light) to give you a direct way of saying "Go here" without actually being blatantly obvious. We can blame bullshit FPS games with jack-shit in the way of smart and immersive level designs. [editline]24th September 2012[/editline] Infact now that I thought about it more, wouldn't it be more of a fucking incentive to go somewhere if the big mean oppressive guard says you can't? I mean if they're that far in would they not know by then that they could just blow the guys face off and waltz in or find some other way around?
Retail it is, usually it's $50-60 for steam.
Nah, Bethesda are one of the cunts for Aus, Skyrim was $90 on release
http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/09/21/dishonored-clues-hints/ Oh wow
Hopefully they try to incorporate something non-intrusive for the rest of us who prefer exploration, or even the ability to disable hints.
Hopefully they try to incorporate something non-intrusive for the rest of us who prefer exploration, or even the ability to disable hints.
A simple hint/objective marker system would suffice. DXHR is a prime example of how to approach all that nonsense.
http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/09/21/dishonored-clues-hints/ Oh wow
"You can't go upstairs" "Okay" Seriously who the fuck thinks that way? Especially in a goddamn stealth/assassination game
"You can't go upstairs" "Okay" Seriously who the fuck thinks that way? Especially in a goddamn stealth/assassination game
Devout Puritan assassins.
I remember a time in games, if a guard said you couldn't go somewhere, you'd just punch him in the face and do it anyways My dad is a opposite of those testers, he tries to explore everything he can in games. He'll I've seen him try to bug the games and get over invisible barriers.for the hell of it. Been doing it since games like Doom and Wolfenstien that awarded you for exploring. That is why he loves Fallout and Elder Scrolls.
I really hope there's not an objective marker. I do NOT want to be told "oh the target's doing x in the y go find them." I hope it's just "here's what needs to be done now do it."
I really hope there's a separate stupid sheep mode with all the hints and objective markers that I can turn off.
I really hope there's a separate stupid sheep mode with all the hints and objective markers that I can turn off.
With all their talk of freedom of movement and "play it your own way," I'm certain such markers will be toggle-able.
I knew I fucking saw these somewhere. I feel stupid now.
http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/09/21/dishonored-clues-hints/ Oh wow
Worst part of that link is the comment section. PC Gamer has the most elitist assholes ever (not just that one article, I used to go there a bit). It's horrible!
"You can't go upstairs" "Okay" Seriously who the fuck thinks that way? Especially in a goddamn stealth/assassination game
Seems like a guard telling you you can't go upstairs (in an assassination game) is already a hint that you should find a way to get upstairs to me????

There's going to be an episode of Face off on Syfy in 20 minutes where a set based on Dishonored will be made. I'm checking it out.
This game isn't getting nearly enough promotion or recognition, or at least it seems that way.

Face Off is on in Canada as well but I don't know which day the new episodes is on. [editline]26th September 2012[/editline] Oh I think it was on the same time here, it airs again in 2 hours and 20 minutes.
So... Corvo is not the only person the Outsider decided to gift with whatever these powers are. Interesting.
From what I heard, he gives quite a lot of people them, and just leaves it to them what they do.
From what I heard, he gives quite a lot of people them, and just leaves it to them what they do.
Sounds like the perfect recipe for a big clusterfuck!
I think thats part of why the overseers need a military wing not just to combat the outsider but his 'gifted' too.
WHo is the Outsider anyways? Anything we know of him yet?
