I really like whoever does the narration. It sounds like the same girl who sang the Drunken Whaler song, but I might be mistaken.
Pre-ordered the other day, I'm pretty stoked about this.

I'm pretty sure it's Chloe Moretz, who voices one of the characters in the game.

Chaotic Neutral as all hell.

Chaotic Neutral is the best alignment anyway.

I'd hope he is that, but honestly giving random humans these kinds of powers knowing full well it'll bring about their end just makes it look like he wants everything gone.
I guess it depends if he's working on his own or the outsider is serving someone else.

This game looks darker and darker by the minute
The original multi-pathed stealth/action trailer looked really, really good. But I've heard rumors that it's been dumbed down though? Is this true?
-or not okay-
If anything, testers getting lost in the levels says great things about the game's level design.
Lol no

One of the fundamentals of level design is flow

AKA people getting lost is a bad thing although it could be exaggerated

Lol flow? Levels are essentially small sandboxes.

So it's a bad thing if finding your way to your objective is relatively difficult at first?

Yeah but getting lost is different than having a relatively difficult time finding something. Not to mention it's frustrating to the player. Guess I read your post wrong or it was worded weird. :v:
Julien: People would just walk around. They didn’t know what to do. They didn’t even go upstairs because a guard told them they couldn’t. They’d say “Okay, I can’t go upstairs.” They wouldn’t do anything.
Probably just idiot testers.

probably found them where Valve finds their testers.

I feel horrible if NPC tells me in kind way but still meaning that you can't go there and I still need to go there. I don't want to fuck that poor guards life because of me.

In this game anyways, the aforementioned guard would probably be just as happy to shoot you in the face if he knew who you were. Times like that, I don't feel sorry for them. The ones I feel sorry for are the ones who get mixed up in your adventure for the wrong reasons and suffer for it (though I can't think of any examples off the top of my head).

But the guards think that you are the killer right? Or do they know that player is framed and they all are part of this huge coverup/conspiracy/coup?
Does anyone know if I can buy the North American version on Greenman Gaming, and use it in Australia? Or will steam get pissy..
Because I would be saving 40 bucks..
I really like how in the end there's absolutely nothing positive in the lore
Reminds me of Diablo before Diablo 3 went all saturday morning cartoon on everything.
I'm getting excited. Dishonored arrives this month. I really hope this game delivers. I myself almost want to call it Deus Ex of the new generation.

I think Deus Ex was the Deus Ex of the new generation, but I'm looking forward to it, seems like a fun game. Only thing I'm worried about is some of the gameplay elements being shallow; when you prioritize multiple ways of doing things, it's inevitable that some things will suffer.

Well, let's be honest, even Deus Ex suffered from that to a point. I'd rather have a bit less focus on any one playstyle and more of a broad, "do what you want" approach anyways, and I'm not that worried about any one playstyle being too bad, since the game does seem to have a lot of good people behind it (including Harvey Smith and a few other people from the Deus Ex dev team IIRC), along with a decent budget and a few years of development time.
Just pre-ordered this. I don't know if I'm ready.

Dues Ex: HR came out a year ago. The Original came out in 2000. Seems like the same generation to me.
I haven't been following this game super closely, but I am excited about it from what I've seen at e3. Something I'm looking into, is what you guys are talking about with the whole sandbox element.
When I think sandbox, I think a fairly large seamless open environment where you wander around doing whatever you want and picking up small tasks or side stories along the way.
That isn't at all what my impression is of this game. If by sandbox, you mean characters dynamically react to your actions then yeah, that's what I was thinking. As for the level layout itself, I think it would be fairly linear. I imagine the playable space to include an area similar to what you would find in a Hitman game, where it includes a good chunk of space outside of the immediate objective area so you can probe and approach the objective from any direction mechanically speaking.
Ultimately, I will think levels would be linear in the sense that most vectors of attack should be fairly obvious . They would have to be because it provides a focus for the levels,a reason for why you are there.
I think the closest analogue for this game would be Thief, I hope it takes the difficulty based objective system from Thief as well as taking the general level design from it.
And I wouldn't call Hitman (or Thief for that matter) levels linear at all, sure they have one goal, but the amount of ways to approach and achieve that goal make it much more than just a linear level.
But the guards think that you are the killer right? Or do they know that player is framed and they all are part of this huge coverup/conspiracy/coup?
I think they think you're the killer. However, based on what we've seen of them so far, I really don't think they care one way or another. They've just been told who to shoot at and they're (probably) loving it.
