I definitely see inspiration from HL2 since Viktor designed City 17. Looks interesting.
I knew it was Viktor Antonov when I saw the concept art. Looks kind of steam-punkish. Very cool.
What a shame.
Obligatory.

This gonna be good
It's being published by Bethesda, it will probably be bad. Look at Brink, Fallout New Vegas, and Wet.
This has been floating around the internet for quite some time.
Looks like half life 2.
This has been floating around the internet for quite some time.
Zenimax also owns id. For some people, id selling itself to Zenimax could mean it's a decent company/publisher :v:
Is it possible that you are capable of reading a paragraph or even skimming it like any semi-literate 3rd grade child? It's not being developed by Bethesda you dolt.
:v: I was waiting for this, I was sarcastic.
it kind of looks like a defective portal turret in the middle, right under the strider-like creature. i know it's just its foot but it's really similarrrrr
Seems its using the unreal engine in case anyone was wondering. http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1208215-what-engine-will-dishonored-use/page__view__findpost__p__18058008
Dishonored uses a custom version of Unreal Engine. But hey, don't expect it to look (or feel) like any other Unreal based title ! ;)

WHAT GAME DOESN'T?
Half life 2? Bah, you're right anyway. But Unreal Engine is a very good engine.
Some info: http://www.gameinformer.com/games/dishonored/b/xbox360/archive/2011/07/11/getting-to-know-dishonored.aspx
Who are you? Players take on the role of Corvo, the Empress’ legendary bodyguard. As the game starts, Corvo is falsely imprisoned for her murder. What the corrupt Lord Regent behind the coup didn’t realize is that Corvo is legendary for a reason. He’s not only a skilled combatant accomplished in the art of not being seen, but Corvo has a suite of supernatural powers that combine with his natural talents and unusual gadgets to make him one of the most lethal men in the known world. Why should you care? Even if you haven’t played them, you’ve undoubtedly heard of Thief and Deus Ex. One of the main minds behind those two games, Harvey Smith, is the co-creative director of Dishonored along with Raf Colantonio, the founder of developer Arkane Studios. The two share a vision of a game that gives players the power to be creative with their skills and tactics, and invites them to come up with interesting solutions to the obstacles in front of them. Arkane is known for its immersive first-person gaming (Arx Fatalis, Dark Messiah of Might & Magic), and the power of a talent-driven publisher in Bethesda (The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Fallout 3) behind the team is promising. How are they going to do that? Dishonored has several major elements that combine to create its unique gameplay: mobility, powers & gadgets, environment, and AI. The trick is that a single power doesn’t just do damage or heal you. You can combine them organically to create interesting effects. Stop time and knock a bunch of stuff off a table in one direction then book it in another, so the guards search for you in the wrong place. Summon a swarm of rats to attack one guard, but possess one of the rats and escape in the chaos. Every problem has as many solutions as you want it to. What’s the catch? It’s an assassination game that reacts to how violent you are. An unusual “chaos” system tracks how much collateral damage you cause, and the game world changes as a result of your actions. Unlike a light/dark side meter, though, it’s a behind-the-scenes element that affects story decisions without punishing the player or pushing them to play one way or another. When can I learn more? Soon! You can get ten pages worth of details in the print magazine, and we’ll be dropping new online content, from video interviews to an interactive map of Dishonored’s world, throughout the month. We asked a lot of questions, and Smith and Colantonio had a lot to say. For starters, on Wednesday we’ll share a video that breaks down why you should be interested in the team at Arkane even if you haven’t played any of their previous games.
Sound so badass. The plot/setting seem really interesting to me, and the gameplay equally so.
This is going to be extremely cool.

I'm feeling a bit underwhelmed after reading that.
It still sounds amazing to me. If anything, I like the background and "Chaos" system.
the background to his charcter is very comical, being perfect at everything, unusual gadgets, super powers i don't think the art direction is going to be like the op's concept art
Dark Messiah's was pretty damn silly if you look at it too. You were the son of a fucking [sp]Demon lord[/sp] or some shit like that, I forgot.
dark messiah wasn't a very serious game i'm pretty sure. especially if you listened to what some of the npc's said like the necroguards and orcs lol
This looks so interesting, Prob will get it :v:
Can we have more First Person combat like in Dark Messiah and Arx Fatalis (no one mentioned it yet?) please? Please? No? Whatever, JUST TAKE MY MONEY ALREADY.
Obligatory.
Holy fuck at the comments.
Some info: http://www.gameinformer.com/games/dishonored/b/xbox360/archive/2011/07/11/getting-to-know-dishonored.aspx
Looks like more orgasmic first person fighting, fuck yes.
Players take on the role of [del]Corvo[/del] Geralt, the [del]Empress’[/del] King's legendary bodyguard. As the game starts, [del]Corvo[/del] Geralt is falsely imprisoned for his murder.
Have to say, sounds a lot like The Witcher 2's story.
I'd rather see something other than just concept art.
Whatever that's always the excuse with Obsidian.
What the hell are you talking about? New Vegas was great, so were Alpha Protocol and Neverwinter Nights 2. The only 'bad' game thay've made was Kotor 2 and that was because Lucas Arts decided to ship the game a year early to make money during the christmas season. Hell they even said they'd patch all the missing content into Kotor 2 for free, but Lucas Arts wont let them.
SteamPunk Dark Messiah with Assassinations? FUCK YEA. [editline]12th July 2011[/editline]
Dark Messiah's was pretty damn silly if you look at it too. You were the son of a fucking [sp]Demon lord[/sp] or some shit like that, I forgot.
Oh no, a fantasy game that isn't all dark-gritty-new-age-shit and doesn't take itself too seriously, boo-fucking-hoo. Since when were demon lords silly, they're badass as fuck and Dark Messiah had the best first person melee combat of all time too.
