is there a quicksave button?
Apparently F5, but it never sends me back to that. I have to load the recent save manually.
they should have a new game+ option...
Is there any way to non-lethally handle the [sp]torturer[/sp] in the Tower mission?
Apparently F5, but it never sends me back to that. I have to load the recent save manually.
Just hit F9 to go back to the save.
Also, if you're dead body is on the floor but you can still see out of your eyes (before the death screen comes up), you can hit F9 and it'll take you back so you don't have to deal with the longer load.
I can't find any working trainer that lets you give runes. Anyone got any like that?
Hey guys, is Dunwall tower the last mission? Because if so, this game is ridiculously short.

yeah you have to load it manually or it will just load from the last actual save, which for some people is the beginning of that level. Funny how some haven't figured it out and think the loading is broken but then again it's the devs fault for it being like that.
at any point in the game does the empress get any closure to her story and the fact that you're in possession of her jerry rigged clockwork heart get addressed?
just a simple yes or no in spoilers would be nice. with everything else going on i have a feeling we never get to see the empress again.

Actually all you have to do is press F9 to quick-load the quick-save, as "load last save" only takes you back to auto saves or manual saves. Strange I know, but F9 only loads quick saves.
I'm 9 hours in and I just abducted Sokolov.
I'll have to admit that I'm getting my money's worth.
Many things I like about this game.
Like how the combat is quite dynamic, as you can try different tactics. If I may recite one fight I had:
I got detected, the two guards were next to two barrels of whale oil, so I shoot the oil and blow them up. Two more guards appear from the door behind me and I finish them off with a couple of well timed counter kills. As I turn around to check my six for my surprise I find a gun being pointed right in my face.
Then I died.
I also adore the steam punk aesthetic in this game, because it's very tasteful. There is actually a lot of electronics involved and not a huge amount of exposed gears (like a gun that looks like it will tear of your fingers if you grab it anywhere else than by the grip).
whale punk

actually the whole whale oil thing is kind of a parallel to combine energy sources.
the combine seemed to rely on that pulse particle technology to power just about everything non conventional.
The whole game makes me feel like Dunwall could actually exist in the TF2 universe, especially after seeing the portal mark on Pierros wall.

No.

It's a shame they never went anywhere with that portal on a wall.
Though I guess it could be the start of DLC or something.
No.
Hooray!! I'm 5 hours in according to Steam, but I'm pretty sure it's mistaken. I'm going to try to ghost my way through this mission... like a motherfuckin' ghost, and shit.

yeah steam's timer is quite inaccurate, I think the best example of how inaccurate it was was when a big fuss was made (at least by rps) saying the timer was inaccurate for portal 2, saying around 4 hours to complete the whole game.
Is there any way to non-lethally handle the [sp]torturer[/sp] in the Tower mission?
shoot him with sleeping darts. it's better to get him first when he's not alerted before you take out his dog.

It still says "[sp]Kill the Torturer[/sp]", and he still has a quest marker above him
it's a side mission so you don't necessarily have to do it.
[editline]12th October 2012[/editline]
but i don't know, to me the game feels very incomplete because there's literally no choices. you have to do it this way or that way. everything is black-and-white. you either stab a guy, boil his face off in a steam room or else do some out-of-the-way side-quest to have someone else deal with them for you and that's literally how the whole game plays through, and some of the sidequests simply cannot be done unless you're playing lethally so you're just SOL
How do you select what is on the hotbar?
Ugh, I can't decide between this or Borderlands 2. I loved Deus Ex and Bioshock, and this seems like a great combo of the two. But I also want a fun and mindless shooter. Help?
Wait til Holiday sales
Get both
Have fun
How do you select what is on the hotbar?
pretty sure you use middle mouse and then 1-through-0 keys to hotkey it
I'm still unable to find a working trainer/cheat table that allows you to change the value of your runes/give infinite runes.
So far I eliminated [sp]Campbell. Non-lethally of course.[/sp] And so far without a kill. I absolutely love the art direction. Even though some areas could use a little bit of contrast this game still has a lot of color. As for gameplay, I think I'll give my final verdict after beating it. But loving it and looking forward to lethal playthrough.
[sp]I decided not to the side-quest for the crazy old lady. I guess I lost a rune that way but I won't help spread the plague.[/sp]
And forgot 2 things:
How do you hide your weapons?
And the playtesters must have been complete morons because the hints are terrible. The lowest point was when it told me all the ways how to get past the wall of light.

Hold F.
holding down your use button stashes your weapons
hold your use key to sheathe sword.
Thank you all.

The bad endings really make me feel... sad somehow. First game to do this to me, i felt bad as fuck
when [sp]I noticed Emily drawing those twisted pictures, and talking about how she would become a cruel
empress, torturing people for fun, just before these rats poisoned me. And when Samuel said that I was the worst of them all, kicking me off the boat and trying to alert them in the last mission[/sp]
