Looks like I should've gotten the achievement.
Just use steam acheviement manager.
Great combat mechanics make this game a buy in my books, but I personally think the game was designed for those who like to turtle through the combat so depending on your style of combat the game can be pretty much broken or, well, more like it feels too easy (speaking of combat strickly, if you stealth through the game that's a whole other experience).
When teleporting beside or behind an opponent you have the chance for an instant kill because once you teleport they lose track of you for a set amount of time. During that window of time, you can punish them. However if your execution is off you are left open to punishment. The melee attack, when wiffed can be cancelled into blocking instantly. That means your character has great pokes at a specific distance, which stresses the importance of spacing in this game.
You can hold sprint and forever be sprinting during combat without any negative attributes other than the noise coming from your feet. You are able to use both your primary and secondary attacks during sprinting.
When the opponent brings out a gun, I found that there is a window of time before they shoot that you can either double jump and perform an instant kill from above. After an opponent shoots, they are vulnerable for a brief moment which is perfect if you can teleport beside/behind to finish him off in one move.
Also note that, a double jump + teleport will grant you the sum of both their momentum. I have footage of myself double jumping from the 4th floor/roof and at the peak of the jump I teleported ontop of an enemy. It did not grant me the option to instant kill but instead my feet landed on top of him causing him to stumble forward as if a car had just hit him at 60km/h. He died from the fall, no other attack was required.
So in short:
your character movements have momentum that can be exploited in dealing with enemies granted you have the available situation to double jump and teleport ontop (good luck indoors with this)
blocking can cancel attack animations when wiffed.
teleporting behind enemies + sprint will increase your instant attack range. It is very similar to Kara throwing.
I believe sprinting has a start up animation that can be cancelled if you wiff attack + block it will extend your hitbox then attack again right after when the notification comes up on your screen for an instant kill.
I have reworked my controls so that block is right click, melee is left click, and secondary is thumb button.
so the majority of the time I'm wiff canceling left mouse click then within a milisecond right click then back to left click/ so that incase I get hit during my attack startup, I end up with the option select of parrying my enemy or instant kill.
Forgot to note that if you wiff + block cancel your blocks are slightly quicker (even if the animation doesn't show it). I think you only benefit a few frames of animation but in practice it has been a life saver.
Wow thanks, I think I'm definitely going to buy the game now; I was talking with a few friends that work at the game store I normally go to, and they all seem to really love it as well. Some guy already returned a copy of Dishonored so they'll hold it for me and I'll go and pick it up later in the week.
This game needs the ability to either equip the crossbow in your other hand for non-lethal playthroughs or something like a nightstick.
Only just finished the Cambell mission going full ghost mode. Got nearly everything besides the fucking painting.
Is there a way to check my stats as I'm going?
Also I have 11 hours in the game and only just did the first mission, what?! :v:

getting the painting is one of the easiest bits since if go straight through the kennels you end up adjacent to campbells little hideaway which has the painting
This game needs an option to restart the mission while you're in it. Thenumber of times I've cocked up and just wanted a fresh start.
Also NG+

the game makes an autosave at the beginning of every mission as well as autosaves that are midway through iirc
every time you start a mission theres a new save file created called MISSION:Name of mission here
load that and you start the mission from the scratch or use the menu
Yeah you definitely aren't forced to not kill anybody at all. I had several moments where I'd get caught but I didn't feel like loading an earlier save, so I just murdered my way through the first couple of guards and then teleported to an unseen above location and just kept stealthing my way through the level, while all the surrounding enemies moved to the new area of interest. I like that you can get caught, but if you're moderately crafty you can work your way out of it and go back to being careful.
I got so enough emotionally invested in the story that sometimes I would go berserk on the my opponents for personal reasons.
i've noticed that the AI don't really have super scripted pathways and sometimes they deviate from their normal walking routes which in turn causes them to find unconscious bodies and shit
it gets so irritating for me because i have to dump bodies MILES away it feels like because if i leave it within like 60 feet of somebody they're going to find it sooner or later. it's like guards go out of their way to check the roof tops for their missing buddies without even consciously knowing that they're missing, so i end up having a pile of unconscious bodies because they will walk half a mile to the other side of the map and never even hold their post.
am i the only one that notices this? it's really strange
I hide bodies in good spots but still get detected for some reason.
I hide bodies in good spots but still get detected for some reason.
i'm telling you dude, they intentionally find them and screw you over
i've seen guards suddenly break their patrols and just start wandering around and finding my massive pile-ups of unconscious bodies on rooftops and shit and it's like HOW DID YOU EVEN GET THERE I TURNED AROUND FOR A SECOND

I killed [sp] The Admiral[/sp] for this reason, finding [sp]Emily locked in her room[/sp] pissed me the fuck off.

Not certain, but I'm pretty sure that if men go missing they will change paths and look around. I've hear them talk to each other about how men are missing in the immediate vicinity ("There should be someone here" or similar), so that's my only basis.
Man this game is great.

I always put bodies onto ventilation ducks, light fixtures or throw them all into one dumpster and close the lid. I have never had a guard find any of them because I mostly place them in places they cannot reach or wouldn't think to look (the garbage). Also they do search for their buddies if they are gone from their usual spot. They will go and grab a friend and search the area for a little bit and give up, you'll know when they say "Hey wasn't there suppose to be a guard on watch here?". The AI is actually pretty smart when it comes to stuff like that, I was spotted once and eluded them by hiding on top of a light fixture and they searched the entire room looking under tables.
I looked at a map of this game's world, and I am disappointed. The entire planet supposedly consists of a group of islands and a continent presumably the size of Australia, if that.
in the campbell mission, if you go through the kennels and head upstairs, the guard patrolling there puts his ear up to the door to listen though it and it scares the living shit out of you. You know the AI isn't supposed to go through the door so you're staring through the keyhole and suddenly

And possibly some unexplored land beyond what the map shows us.
If they make a sequel, which they should, I hope it's set long after Corvo is dead and he founded some outsider assassin group like Daud and his assassins. Would be cool to start off as an apprentice or something and throughout the game you find out bad guys hijacked the assassin group shortly after he died and had you kill for their own ends.
As far as the people of the Isles are concerned, there is no civilization on the distant Pandyssian Continent. In all likelihood, there are probably trader and merchant cultures living along the edges of this landmass. However, much of the continent remains an unexplored stretch of deserts and jungle, promising death to any who penetrate its borders.
Dishonored 2 please
I am loving this game. But I find that the double jump and level 2 teleporting abilities make combat too easy. Even on Very Hard, if they pull out a gun, I just space myself and insta-kill after a double jump.

That's some trailer level shit.

Did it not alert him if you were still looking through the keyhole? I jumped back and to the side to avoid being seen should he have been able to actually see through the door like the player..
Got quite a way into this now; it seems to be a mix of DXHR (the freeform levels which you stealth around along a linear story path, though it doesn't have the dizzying amount of freedom the original DX had), Bioshock (the superpowers in your off hand, option to choose passive or active powers at the upgrade screen) and HL2 (the dystopian aspect as well as the 'traditional architecture with massive alien gray technological monstrosities attached' thing).
Overall I'm liking it quite a bit so far; it's even more extreme than DXHR in that while in that game you're a glass cannon with the potential to fuck shit up if you were a good enough player, here you're incredibly weak but iif you're a good player can absolutely tear shit the fuck up. Bit less freedom in most of the levels than DXHR though but I guess that's because of the oppressive atmosphere, Human Revolution had a few of hubs with quite a lot of mission areas that were hostile while this game has a few mission areas that are all hostile with a hub-like structure. Keeps you on your toes, I guess.

I just knocked his ass out so my problem was solved
Also I generally play non lethally but if I get confronted I'd rather slit some guy's throat than cause a ruckus, and if the characters are being genuine cunts (like a lot of the guards) I'll have no problem killing them if it's faster and more efficient. Generally makes for an interesting experience though there are only a couple of ways to kill non lethally :/.

Also the absolute best bone charm is the one that makes your choking move take about a second to complete.
Just beat the game, first playthrough on very hard without killing a single person.
[sp]Holy shit did I get spotted alot though[/sp]

Assassin's creed: The outsiders
I would kill for a dlc that lets Samuel take you to any previously visited place. that way I wouldn't have to redo a mission to get all the items, just do it and come back later.
Finishing the last level while on low chaos, did anyone else [sp]knock the Admiral unconscious and then chuck him off the top of the tower?[/sp]
Anyone else pick up Granny Rag's hint that [sp]the heart was actually Jassamine Kaldwin's (the dead empresses) which had had her soul trapped inside?[/sp]
So for the rest of the game I [sp]stopped using the heart completely. Thinking that somehow you could have her, or just her soul. Even though the void had that note saying: YOUCANTSAVEHERYOUCANTSAVEHER etc etc[/sp]
Oh well.
