Bethesda Announces ''Dishonored'' - New Game By Arkane Studios

This game continues to surprise me. I'm replaying the first mission, going for the "loudest man in dunwall" approach. I jump down to the three overseers in the barracks (where they are accusing the third of being ill) and the middle guy draws his pistol, shoots the man between us, and then gets shot by the overseer behind him. Madness.
Going to try and see if I can do a ~5 hour speedrun of the game, going from start to end.
And finished in under three hours. Wow, I missed out on a hell of a lot of stuff in the run, but that was surprisingly enjoyable.
I just found out that you can target people with the Heart to find out things about them. I thought it just provided general details about the area, now I'll need to play the game again.
Okay so while I was trying to record myself do a run through the Boyle mission I learned something new... sort of.
I always rolled Blink + Knife and pulled out the gun when things got messy. But I noticed that the Bow did a better job. Both weapons cause guard break on enemies. So if your duelling it out with someone and they're blocking, shooting them will cause them to stumble and lose balance if they don't die from the shot. Once guard break occurs, you can instant kill them (Assuming you've been holding shift and you can melee cancel to extend the range in which you can perform an instant kill). The gun's blast is like a shotgun causing multiple enemies in the blast to lose guard, but the range limited. At first, it appeared to me that this was better than the bow but I take that back. The bow's range travels as far at the arrow goes rather than a few metres in front of you, and as a bonus you remain in stealth when you shoot.
All this means you can snipe an enemy, teleport right in front of their face, and instantly kill them. (Even if your teleport is 1 or 2 metres off, just wiff cancel and you should be able to land that instant kill).
This becomes more efficient than my previous aggro-style of constantly trying to warp behind them. You just shoot, teleport, kill, repeat. Best part is this is completely stealth if you can pull it off. While the enemy is stumbling they do not call out for other guards even on Very Hard difficulty. There is a stun duration after being shot in which you MUST attack them. If the stun duration is over, they go back to blocking and they start calling for more guards.

Or you shoot them in the head once and they die on any difficulty.
For some reason i just cannot get into this game. I have tried so much but get bored after about 20 minutes. Its really strange because i love the art style etc, and the gameplay and basic idea of the game is roughly what i like in a game.
I want the ability to fistfight in this. For example, you or a guard can get disarmed but still fight if the situation still requires it. I would love running around Dunwall beating the shit out of people.

I was actually surprised she was taking a bath [sp]when you see piero looking through the lock[/sp]
And this never gets old

I jumped on her head which made her get out of the bath.
Unfortunately she wasn't completely naked. She was wearing a corset and something else.

Anyone else find it funny when they blink into the walls of light? I accidentally blink'd into a wall holding some people prisoner and all I could think was that it was must of horrified the prisoners like a bird hitting a car windshield.

ahahahah oh god now I want to see this.
*prisoners standing around, quietly lamenting their situation when suddenlyBLINKZAP WTF WAS THAT*
Yeah, I was taken by surprise by that on my most recent high chaos playthrough. I kept loading at that part (playing highest difficulty, so I die sometimes) and finally I was too impatient to wait for the guards to finish their conversation and decided to stab them during it. I decided to show my face for the sake of the "UMG CORVO" reaction he gives. Does anybody know what this changes? Does he bunker in harder or something?
Well, not much really. But later in the game EVERYONE knows the assassin is actually Corvo. It can kinda' fuck you over reputation-wise if you've killed a lot of people like I did in my first playthrough.
All of my missions that game had like at least 30 dead (the first one had over 70 :v:) and high chaos. T'was lovely.

I MUST try this now.
I love turning gadgets against the people who made them. Arc pylons are the shit, and tricking enemies into the wall of light, is just hilarious.
I also love carrying either a guard or another character and blinking around the map to put them in a place that they have no right in being, for instance, on roofs, or on a couple of those logs sticking up out of the water, too far away for them to get back without swimming. I just imagine them waking up, and being wildly confused as to what happened, and what kind of drunk night they must have had. It's even better when you think about what 5 or 6 guards on one roof would say to each other upon waking up.
It's not dialogue anyone could predict being needed, but it'd be awesome if it had been in in any way.
Guys, guys, you can drag people WHILE choking them, how did I not know this.
Guys, guys, you can drag people WHILE choking them, how did I not know this.
Only through part of the animation. At the end it keeps you in place. If you use the faster choking bone charm, you can only drag them a foot or two.
So I'm at the part where I have to pick up my gear again.
HOW DO I REBIND THE FUCKING KEYS. GOOGLE FAILS ME. FUCK

Just don't hold jump.
Wow OK I figured it out. It's fucking middle mouse.

Change your keys in the options menu?
Absolutely detest Flooded District after [sp]you kill the lord regent[/sp]
Not fun at all.
I really wish you can get into fights with guards with just fists and it would count as non-lethal takedowns. Running in fists blazing knocking guards out one by one, Blinking behind some and choking them just seems like a nice alternative to fighting.

I loved the feeling of helplessness you feel
General consensus on 4chan was this game was bad.
How similar is it to Deus Ex? Also what is the extent of the freeroam

Wait, since when does anyone rely on 4chan for reviews/impressions?
Obviously you don't really know too much about what you're talking about, because depending on who you talk to/what board it's a great place for reviews on pretty much anything
Thousands people can't all be wrong
Thousands people can't all be wrong
Yes they can. Infact it's frequently the case that the more people you have in an area the more likely they are to have the same wrong idea. For every retarded idea you end up with 5 morons who repeat it without thinking, eventually any dissenting opinion is drowned out. You're better off looking at individual reviews and critiques than just listening to the masses.
Also, if you're listening to /v/ you'll end up hating games really quickly.
My opinion, don't listen to anyone and do your best to always make up your own mind. Once you've been able to see for yourself, you can start seeing what people say holds true and what doesn't, for you.
It's too damn subjective.

For me, [sp]the Overseer in question told a colleague about his symptoms and asked to be killed (Despite protests). The other one promised to make it quick and told him to turn his back and recite their Seven Strictures, it was sort of saddening.[/sp]
I'm doing a stealthy playthrough with zero kills though, and I didn't [sp]help Granny Rags to spread the plague[/sp] if that had any effect on it.
Personally, I think this game is fucking awesome. But I also loved the shit out of Deus Ex and BioShock.
