Was afraid that [sp]Dunwall Tower[/sp] would be the last level. Was pleasantly surprised when that turned out not to be the case.
Yes they can
Nah you're wrong
Also, if you're listening to /v/ you'll end up hating games really quickly.
Yeah you're right
Also could one of you answer my damn question please?

It's a good game. With a great thought-out world.
Specifically, how similar is it to Deus Ex and what are the open world enviroments like....
It's pretty similar. It's a videogame, just like Deus Ex. Why do you need to know that? just try the damn game. Or do you think you can evaluate a game on it's characteristics? Being linear or open-world doesn't make the game good or bad. But since you won't stop bugging I may just answer: Each mission starts and ends at the Hub with it's characters and scripts and mini-quests. Hub changes from mission to mission so it's not always same characters doing same stuff in same place, far from that. After you travel from the hub you find yourself in a district that usually has a good amount of enterable buildings with possible memorable characters, notes, quests, interesting items. There's shit ton of verticality meaning LOTS of ways to approach your target. One mission has multiple districts that are separated by a 2 second loading screen. On the first play-through if you want to see everything it usually takes 2-3 hours on a single mission to calmly explore everything (still you will find something you haven't found before on the next play-through). Gameplay is pretty similar to Deus-Ex but there is no radars or maps or floating objective markers (there is objective markers but I have no idea who would want to pollute their screen with them and lose the fun of exploring) Also it feels a LOT more fluid that Human Revolution. When I talked to characters there I felt like I was forced in a different part of the game where you talk. In Dishonored all talking was very fluid and never made me lose immersion. You can find a drawn map on some wall but you can't take it with you, so you have to remember. /v/ just went full retard and jumped on the worst bandwagon 4chan has seen. I have no idea why those sad idiots don't like the game, none of their points are valid (i've read them all)

it's similar in the fact that you spend stuff on abilities that let you go places in a map and then do stuff
i don't know i guess it's kinda like DE:HR crossed with Hitman
On the second mission, just about enter the [sp]whiskey distillery when the assassins pop out (somehow forgot all about them) and I don't know how to get rid of them non lethal style![/sp]
What do?
Don't just sum it up with "this game mixed with this" because that could mean a world of things to different people. We ought to encourage people to play the damn game instead of asking for a summary in the vein of "it's like this and this".

Just run, their appearance there isn't plot critical and you don't have to take them down.

Aw man there's hidden achievements. That's even more work.
I don't much see the point of a hidden achievement. If I want to achieve something, I would work towards it. Except maybe plot related ones, to not reveal the story through achievements.

Maybe they're tied to things that require you to explore different areas/options?
Guys, guys, you can drag people WHILE choking them, how did I not know this.
Because trying to move whilst holding down CTRL is awkward, that's why I re-binded it to the right-mouse button.
Was I the only one who had to rebind the mouse buttons? I kept forgetting LMB was for sword in my right hand and RMB for item in my left hand.

Really? I use wasd + ctrl in all games where I have to crouch, my pinky doesn't complain at all.

I always set C to crouch, it's just how I roll.

Yeah, I did the same it actually caused me to die a lot by my own grenades. :v:
When I'm chatting online my left control key is what I usually use for push to talk.
NO STOP I DON'T WANT TO CHOKE CALLISTA FUCK
That ending [sp]was so underwhelming, "Will I be Empress now?" THE END[/sp]
I'm a huge fan of bioshock, and replay it 4 or 5 times a year. Will i like this? Never played Deus Ex, so i can't make that comparison, haven't played hitman either. Although i've played a bunch of fallout.

I think Dishonored uses cloud saves, so you can just select the prison as the mission.

and now for an unbiased opinion that actually points out the negatives and isn't just "it's so awesome buy it u idiot"
the gameplay is really fun and fluid, and the environments and art style are beautiful. the powers are really fun to use as well, although it sucks that you don't really get a chance to experience all of the powers at their full potential. also it's cool how your moral actions change the outcome of the game.
however the game is pretty short, and the story is pretty garbage. it's basically just a 'save the princess' type situation, there's really nothing else to it. the storyline is so cliche and dull that it's hard to immerse yourself in it and progress through the game when there's nothing interesting to look forward to. seriously, every mario game in existence follows this formula, how unoriginal can the writers get? the characters are also completely dull and boring (except for the old bird lady i guess). there's little to no character development and everything is very predictable.
so if you just want great gameplay and an interesting world, go for it, but don't expect anything good in terms of story. the story starts off interesting and exciting, but very rapidly declines in quality.
I love the gameplay in this, but the story/world/lore could have been expanded and explored SO much more. It has such incredible potential, but so much just feels unexplained. Who is the Overseer, why am I an assassin, and why are there other assassins that I'm fighting against, what's the deal with the whales...

You get alot of background information on EVERYTHING with the heart which is a bit lazy move on the writers part not including stuff in the main narrative.
Edit: I guess the living being's heart is actually [sp]the queen's heart[/sp]
Yeah I thought that too, kinda creepy when it says stuff like "Why am I so cold?" ... but again, that's another thing they ever really explain or hint at.

The overseer, or overseers, is a concept that's discussed in numerous texts and dialogues in the game. That's hardly unexplained. You being an assassin is a core part of the story, not really sure what's unexplained about that. And about the assassins: [sp]you find more information about them and Daud further into the game.[/sp]
The whales and their usage (and the mystery surrounding whale oil) is also explained in many books/letters.

Well they have alot of ideas for the sequel then.
I didn't really notice much wrong with the story and the characters. I feel they served their purpose well/sufficiently. [sp]I had hoped for some closure regarding the outsider however. I figured something was building up towards the end but he mostly just gives you a pat on the back and that's pretty much it. Would have been nice to know his motives at least.[/sp] I think the world is very interesting and has lots of unexplored potential. Hopefully there will be a sequel or at least a game in the same universe to expand on it.
