Just finished my first playthrough, which I elected to do on Hard to ensure that I wasn't able to just brute force my way through. Ended up [sp]Fairly non-lethal, highly stealthy, low chaos approach. Got the nice optimistic ending. I'm a little disappointed that I can't play through the game with all the powers i'd unlocked by the end of the game, but I suppose I could just use cheat engine if I really wanted to do that. But it would have been nice to re-play the game as a nigh-unstoppable god of destruction. I mean unless there's an unlock for that or something i'm missing.[/sp] [editline]18th October 2012[/editline] I mean since I was going stealthy, fairly non-lethal, and quiet, I missed out on a lot of the power-based shenanigans like stopping time and repositioning people to shoot their friends etc. Most of the time I just used blink, slow time and posession to stealth around. [editline]18th October 2012[/editline] Also, [sp] What happened to pendleton? I didn't see him at all when I went to rescue Emily. Was he just not around or did I somehow miss him?[/sp]
[sp] I think Havelock killed him[/sp] [editline]18th October 2012[/editline] Fucking whalers
[sp] When I reached the room before Emily, Martin and Pendleton were sitting at the table, both poisoned. [/sp]
I had this too, a bit underwhelming. [sp]I wanted to throw Pendleton from the top of the Lighthouse as I had his brothers, but alas.[/sp]
Beat the game tonight. Talk about anticlimactic. Gonna do a ghost playthrough now.
Does anyone else get a Lovecraftian feel from this game?
*Spoiler*
[sp]Yeah I wanted to kill both of them myself for what they had done to the others who were lying in the yard of the pub. [/sp]
http://i.imgur.com/arZYL.jpg http://i.imgur.com/m51KX.jpg What's the deal with this key? It's under the abandoned apartment the last time you visit the hound pits pub. There appears to be no way of reaching it unless I'm missing something.
Maybe it's in the sewers?
Maybe it's a hidden key?
Where on earth is Pendleton after the Golden Cat? I need to 'find Pendleton' but I've searched all around the Hound Pits and can't find him...

man i'm really wishing i had a PC to play this game.. for consoles this game has absolutely no replay value because there's no way to cheat your way into getting everything at the beginning... i think i'm just going to do one more playthrough after this (i'm at the tower mission currently). i did sort of a stealthy revengancer kind of playthrough. hardly ever got caught but i killed everyone. i'm thinking for my next playthough i'm gonna do it pure stealth (which will be hard because killing enemies is so tempting even if i'm sneaking and i see a lone guard i have this insane compulsion to kill the poor fucker even though i can just sneak past him) but instead of simply reloading my save when i get caught i'm going to have a completely upgraded pistol and some more combat upgrades so basically whenever i get caught i can kill enough guards quickly to scatter them so i can escape easy. that's the one thing that turns me off about these sorts of games is that as soon as you're discovered and you go gung ho everything's pretty much so fucked you need to reload your save. or at least i feel if i'm discovered i have to reload my save. this game tries to promote not giving up once you're found, mainly because of blink, windblast and the pistol upgrades (especially the magazine)... maybe rat swarm to a degree. but all of those things combined seemed to be especially geared towards scattering the enemy once they've found you so you can teleport to a knook or atop a lamp post. i think hitman absolution will perfect this though, as on the highest two difficulty settings (the only ones worth playing) there are no saves allowed and levels are so complex that reloading a level would be a bigger pain in the ass than simply escaping alert.
Just completed it for the first time, 14 hours according to steam, fucking brilliant.
He's behind the tower looking out onto the river.
Thanks. I should have just turned back on objective markers, silly me. Annoying that I wasn't actually told where he was, first slip up of this game for me.
Would make sense for a being of infinite power to not give two shits about what you do with those powers, too.
That's reflected at the shrines in most levels as well. Depending on what you've done during that mission, he'll comment on it while talking to you, but more often then not he'll end it with "i have no idea wtf to think of you corvo, you're incredibly interesting"

No survivors.
No survivors.
a level just doesn't feel complete if you're not the only one walking away from it
I don't really know, I just can't get myself to play as a fucking berserker after finishing it once, even though I would like to get into the whole combat system. Maybe it's just because sneaking feels so damn good in this game, with guards noticing missing comrades and stuff. And the whole blinking, choking, stabbing. I just couldn't charge into a room full of guys, it doesn't feel right.
This game kind of makes me want to play Fable 3 again. Hate on it all you want, but in it's own way I like the atmosphere and of course being quite steampunk itself.
I prefer sneaking through the entire level without ever being detected and not knocking out or killing anyone, as though I was never there to begin with. The combat is fun but ghosting the entire game without touching anyone is far more satisfying. Instead of just knocking out everyone you need to actually learn their paths and carefully plan your routes. An average mission can take close to an hour to complete for me. Reminds me of the good old days playing Thief where I'd steal everything without anyone ever detecting me or ever blackjacking anyone. Of course I didn't realize that the prison level counted because I thought the detection after blowing up the doors was a scripted event so I missed out on the Ghost/Shadow achievements on my first playthrough after I had ghosted every single level without knocking out a single person and I didn't buy any magic or equipment upgrades at all for the Mostly Flesh and Steel achievement. It was basically the ultimate glutton-for-punishment playthrough and I didn't even get credit for it. Needless to say I was pretty damn mad. But honestly I don't mind doing it all over again. Nearly 100% on all the achievements in this game. Best game I've played in a long time.

The Boyle party mission... Spoilers inside. This mission was definitely for sneaking but it was still fun to rambo
i think my favorite thing in the entire game is killing tallboys with your blade. thanks for posting that video though... i thought you could only take down tallboys if you teleported right in their face, not also from behind.
I just ran from every Tallboy I met, shat a brick seeing them guarding the Boyle Party.

I think the 2nd tallboy was only slightly alerted, which is reason why he looked towards the first kill but didn't change his stance.

This actually reminded me of something I wanted to ask you guys: Blinking is awesome as hell but I kinda think it is a little... I don't know, overpowered? I mean you can travel huge distances, it costs little mana and, as you can see in the video above, can be a pretty awesome weapon. What do you think? It actually bugged me a little to use it much, so I replayed a few missions purely without blinking lately, only using the double jump awesomeness that agility provides. It is way more fun and actually pretty challenging so far. I think I'll go for a no-power/non-lethal/ghost run soon, let's see how far I can go.
the fact that you can't regenerate mana and need to use potions which come in a limited number per level (yeah you can buy them inbetween levels but still) to do shit like that with blink, make blink a power i never use rapid fire. i always wait for it to recharge. [editline]18th October 2012[/editline] is the pistol an effective sniping tool? like with upgrades and stuff can it be just as effective as the crossbow only much noisier?
is the pistol an effective sniping tool? like with upgrades and stuff can it be just as effective as the crossbow only much noisier?
Full upgrade feels like one of these [thumb]http://world.guns.ru/userfiles/images/shotgun/sh16/usas-12.jpg[/thumb]
so no i guess.. why did they have to make the pistol a tiny shotgun? they should have made an upgrade where it has no spread at all. i'd love to be able to snipe with it.
