It is so fun to see a guard fighting a swarm of rats. And then as soon as he killed most of them, shoot him with the sleeping dart and make some more rats.

Imagine if the game had sleeping rats - rats you set upon people that, upon bite, knocked them out.
Yeah personally I'm just disgusted by how they added sleep darts in the game. Just feels condescending for them to add such an easy element assuming that most of us aren't capable of just grappling guards silently. Makes me sick.

I fucking hate how they had swords. Just a fucking blatant rip off of Oblivion.
I've got minor criticisms about the way gameplay and whatnot, but holy shit if the architectural and narrative design isn't the most brilliant thing I've seen recently. The actual design of individual scenes is brilliant too. They really sold the lighting and colours. The engine lets it down sometimes, especially with underwater areas and when you look into the distance, but generally speaking it's flippin' beautiful.
A lot of similarities to Half-Life 2 but that's alright I think. Antonov definitely knows what he's doing.
I would throw so much money at a game about exploring Pandissia.

I would throw more money at a dlc or expansion exploring Corvo and expanding on this narrative to be honest
I felt that while the story itself was great and the character development we had was brilliant, it often felt cut short and without significant one-on-one interaction with characters, especially Emily. [sp]And especially at the end.[/sp]

I'd pay 100$ for it easy.
On my second run, I killed the tallboy in the Lord Regent's hiding place and immediately blinked away.
After they stopped looking for me, I blinked back up and a guard shot a few other guards at the door for no reason, giving me an achievement. Does anybody know why that happened?
What achievement?
Why do they have that "hey dude you got like many choices in this mission dude" screen once you get to the brothel? We get it, you wanna be Deus Ex. You don't become Deus Ex by putting up signs that say "Hey look at me I'm Deus Ex!". Ironic too because the game is so much less Deus Ex than it pretends to be. They shoulda sticked to the Dark Messiah way of being the good kind of linear.
Think you could squeeze anymore Deus Exs in there?

Considering the linear shit that is produced today, i see why they slapped the viewer with "We're not fucking linear!"
Why does linear=shit?
Many of my favourite games are linear.
I understand the push for open world games but I would never go as far as to consider linear games to be shit.

Linear games aren't terrible. People sometimes automatically assume that a game being linear automatically gives you no freedom to explore and discover. But they can have pretty wide environments as well, as shown by Dishonored, and even games like Half-Life 2, which at least gave you the illusion of open-worldness. It all comes down to interactivity. I'd much prefer a linear game where you can interact with a lot more in your environment than a huge open world game where all you can do is walk in a direction.
I figured that out by reading the letters, but I never noticed until later that Daunt is the assassins of the Empress.
That is pretty impressive, seeing as when you point your crosshair at him, he is labeled "Daud, killer of the Empress" or something like that.

Maybe he's playing with minimal HUD like I did. Can't recall seeing such labels in my playthrough at least.

Well, I am certainly a dumb person then :v:

When you first meet Daud in the Flooded District he says "I enjoyed shoving a blade in your Empress"
What achievement?
Misdirection. It's for getting enemies to kill 5 other enemies.
Also, I'm going to see if I can recreate the scenario in a different situation.
I beat this game yesterday. Fucking amazing. I haven't liked a game this much in a while.
Good story, good gameplay, good aesthetics. I want to buy it on Steam so I can have achievements and such, played it on a friend's PS3 and god this is probably SO MUCH BETTER with a mouse.
I loved the Bone Charms, ended up not upgrading much stuff (basically Blink, the time stop one, Dark Vision and Agility only), really digged that if you were a dick you'd change things. I suppose the endings, too?
Like Marden said, [sp]I was happy Piero and Sokolov cured the plague and saved the city and Emily became a fair empress.[/sp]
What happens if you [sp]kill Solokov?[/sp]
NNNNGH I need to get this game, it my be the first time I beat a SP-only game twice.
I'm pretty sure you [sp]Can't kill Solokov[/sp]
When you first meet Daud in the Flooded District he says "I enjoyed shoving a blade in your Empress"
He doesn't say he enjoyed it, he says he only knows how it felt because he killed her. You later discover he wishes he didn't kill her.

Where does it say that? As far as I could see, it only thought it was too big a responsibility to take upon him.

Maybe he says he enjoyed it on high chaos?

Well, that was thorough. Thanks!
EDIT:
My points still stands, however. Sure, he says "[sp]Noone should have to kill an empress[/sp]", but that doesn't mean he [sp]had something against killing her specifically. It's more like it was too big a contract, maybe he can't stand that the consequences is partially his fault. But he still killed her in cold blood, and that is not something he seems to regret.[/sp]
On the part where you can assassinate or knock out daud, did anyone else use Time stop to get close to him? I used it but he was able to keep moving around despite time being stopped, and no, it wasn't slo-mo

He's a magic dude too so that may have been intentional

Yeah, I tried that the first time. He even says something like "You thought that would work on me?"

I'm pretty sure it's the same thing with the [sp] torturer. He also had an outsider-shrine, so maybe it has no effect on those guys?[/sp]
He's a magic dude too so that may have been intentional
Yeah, it's supposed to happen, in fact if you just run up to him and attack him, he'll stop time himself.

You can time stop on both daud and torturer but only for once and well out of their reach, you will have to sprint to them to make them unconscious and that is only by choking.
