i beat it, that was pretty good
high chaos ending though because i had to kill a shit load of people at one point, but w/e
I love doing loud, kill everyone playthroughs, but I've realized that I fucking suck at fighting more than two people at a time. This disappoints me immensely

Blink. A lot. If you aren't blinking and countering all the time you're gonna die.
I preferred to play the game as stealth but I really wanted to fight everyone because I loved the combat in Dark Messiah so much

If you're ever outnumbered, you can always leave! Also the pistol is more of a shotgun, so it can help pushing away a mob of people if you find yourself in a tough spot.

It's only like a shotgun after upgrading it.

Which I did because I used cheats. Cheats are fun
Concerning the Outsider.
[sp]We all can agree that the clues in the game suggest he is a huge whale under the sea?[/sp]
Wait what.
Wait what.
it's suggested he's the [sp]leviathan[/sp]
when you're in the other dimension you can actually see it.
here's a link about it, spoilers obviously:

I actually think [sp]that whale in the first Void scenario isn't him. Just another thing thrown in the scenery. I only say this because that mark on it's side looks like a brand, something whalers would put on a captured whale.[/sp]
a brand? isn't there just one company? and why would they brand them in the first place? they aren't like free range cattle, they're kept in very poor conditions similar to what modern livestock is accustomed to.
the whole whaling thing is a giant fuckoff "save the environment" bit thrown in for really no apparent reason.

Very poor is not enough, according to what I've read they cut off all the useful parts of the whale
while it lives.

I was actually really sad when I read that, because I was picturing it. The whale in a strange environment, getting cut open making painful sounds... :(

yeah i know, we all read the manifest in the ruins...
it is similar to how we treat animals today, we slice and dice them while they're still alive to impair movement and shit.
i'm certain there is some shit in the modern world where they harvest from an animal while it's still alive.
The whale in a strange environment, getting cut open making painful sounds... :(
i imagined a sound i don't think i'll ever hear in real life...
I've been thinking about getting this.
anything I should know about it before I do?

Disable objective markers, attempt to go for low chaos for first playthrough if you want the best ending (aka: the ending that won't make the story seem too bad).
You'll probably want to replay it at least once since the game was basically designed to be replayed.
Might want to grab it for slightly cheaper on a CD-key website, I personally think its worth $40-$50, but not the $60 they charge (because its bullshit price inlfation that I can only tolerate in huge games like Skyrim that'll give me tons of quality game time)
disable objective markers? why the..?
honestly this game is not really worth buying. if you desperately want to try it out goto best buy and get a gamefly trial or something.

IMO the game is a lot more fun to play when you have to figure out how to get to your mark and where he/she is hitman-style, instead of the objective markers literally telling you exactly where to go. It takes out a lot of the fun, challenge, and experimentation if you just go directly to your marks, which is easy to do with objective markers on.
the only instance where this sucks is during the high overseer mission where you are doing the optional "save the uncle" objective. You have to dump his knocked out body in a safe place... which is a specific trash can in a specific alley, which you'll never know unless you had markers on. Only instance where I ran into issue though.
in hitman you always know where your target was...
not knowing where the target is would be fucking maddening.
Its way too short and way too expensive. It should be 30 dollars for what it offers.
Its way too short and way too expensive. It should be 30 dollars for what it offers.
19 hours in, and only on the 6th mission. For a singleplayer game it's pretty lengthy. Sir.
[editline]9th November 2012[/editline]
depending on how you play of course
Its way too short and way too expensive. It should be 30 dollars for what it offers.
It makes up for in it replayability, I've got 60 hours clocked, 10 of them was for the first run
I just been using everything I didn't use in my first run, Grenade, Razors, Whirlwind, rats ect...

And the whale oil colour closely resembles that of [sp]the Void[/sp].

I completed it with a non-lethal stealth playthrough and a lethal not so stealth playthrough. Needless to say the second one is a lot shorter, like really shorter.
Also I investigated every area and so on, I got my fair share out of the game.
And the whale oil colour closely resembles that of [sp]the Void[/sp].
It's mentioned in the game that the power of whale oil almost certainly comes from the void, and also when the rats from the Devouring Swarm power dissapear, the noise it makes sounds like a whale in my opinion.
not knowing where the target is would be fucking maddening.
This game is pretty much made to be played without objective markers.

That's not how I saved him at all, for me he fought his way out of the building after Campbell was poisoned, the only thing I did was snipe a single one of the Overseers that attacked him, and obviously there were no issues with objective markers.

I'd rather suggest to play it the way he wants without giving a shit about the chaos level.
in hitman you always know where your target was...

And this might be why you didn't like the game or think it was worth it
running with no objective markers isn't maddening - it makes the levels out to be like actual puzzles you have to solve by figuring out where he/she is and how to get to them. And the game gives you all the tools to do so. If you're not the type of person who can stand a game that makes exploration and discovery a part of whats expected from you then dishonored really isn't the style of game for you really. Turning off objective markers puts those aspects of the game in the forefront, and they are the best things about dishonored IMO. It makes it so you can't just rush through a level, and makes it much more engaging while you are playing. Took me 17 hours or so to beat my first play through largely because of that and because I was taking my time getting through, not rushing and yet not really trying to collect "everything" either.
I'd rather suggest to play it the way he wants without giving a shit about the chaos level.
I only say that because most people who think the story really sucks when they beat it end up getting high/medium chaous by the end of the game, while I thought it was actually pretty decent (not great or anything). And I can see why because I'm playing high chaos now and the story makes a lot less "sense" because of it and things are genereally all gloom-and-doomy and not very satisfying (plot wise).
Though it was pretty brillant lol when Emily [sp]Greeted me with enthusiasm at the bar congratulations like on my first play through, but then sudeenly went with dead eyes "So how many people did you kill tonight. I cant wait till I'm empress." :v: [/sp]
turning off objective markers in a giant world is quite fucking maddening. this game was not made to be played without objective markers.
i don't considering wandering around like an idiot "playtime".

protip: the levels are mainly linear with 2-3 paths each to get to the end and if you listen to the characters speaking about your mission (or even by opening your journal) it's pretty easy to find out where to go.
