Anyone here willing to help out a new person on nord invasion?
that's some sort of mod for warband i assume?
Just started my download of Mount and Musket, pretty excited tbh. I've had this game and my play usually goes in spurts where all I play for a small amount of time is mount and blade and then don't play for a long time.

I wish war of the roses had an SP like mount & blade warband :< getting less than 400 ping is almost impossible
I wish war of the roses had an SP like mount & blade warband :< getting less than 400 ping is almost impossible
Why? If there's a server hosted near you you shouldn't have a ping of 400.
Then he probably doesn't have a server near him, duh. There isn't exactly a massive community that populates servers all over the globe.
Finally bought my new computer. Now I can ahve those 400+ player battles without seeing it from a slideshow!
I'm looking at that Freelancer mod since I'm not great at managing armies but A. I can't seem to get the Steam version of Warband up to date B. I managed to back-date my non-Steam copy to play 1.3 but everytime I go on the city streets or to a castle my game crashes. Is this a known bug or should I just try to re-install? Fixed it. Turns out I just had to switch an option in the module.
Re-install
Freelancer isn't that impressive anyway.
Freelancer isn't that impressive anyway.
that's what you think
Why is With Fire and Sword considered bad? I haven't installed it yet and won't yet because of people constantly saying it's a bad game. But I hardly see any reasons of why it's bad. The new weapons and settings makes it look fun, I'm wanting some reasons of why I should install it. (I already have WB btw)
Some people like it. I hate it because warband is a great roleplaying game, and WF&S ruined every single solid roleplaying element. Strange pricing/balance issues with weapons, armor and troop wages, content quality is pretty iffy at times, too. Overall its just disappointing I guess. Lots of good potential with a 30 year war iteration of M&B but its a pretty weak execution, its very obvious that they just really half-assed it. The multiplayer is good, but nobody really plays it (not on the same degree as warband, at least).

It's not bad. Single and multiplayer are pretty good. The multiplayer maps are not very good though, but people took that into their own hands by making their own maps.
Guns and grenades are OP as heck too.
WF&S isn't supposed to be Warband, one of the main points of the game was that it had a storyline on purpose, it was aimed to be kind of a more closed rpg following a plot set in Europe. Personally I loved it, but people expect it to be Warband with guns, and they get disappointed when it lacks some of Warband's features, because it wasn't built from Warband, but from the original Mount&Blade. Guns aren't OP, you're just not supposed to charge straight into the enemy alone on your horse while your army follows you, guns will shoot you down just like arrows worked in Warband, arrows were pretty deadly at the start of the game, but you could still block them with your shield. In F&S you can't block bullets, but just like Warband, guns will two-threeshot you until you start getting some decent armour. And you're not supposed to go all William Wallace on the enemies. New age, new weapons, new tactics. Recruit some forces, use tactics well, and you'll win battles. There's a reason the game has trading mechanics such as caravans, so you can be a dirty jewish merchant and adquire loadsemone. Sure, there's some unpolished stuff here and there, but not too many and it's not game-breaking. The game was originally released for eastern Europe. My say is, if you haven't tried it yet by yourself yet owning it, and are eager to know wether it's fun or not but you don't try it out just because people on the internet say it's not that good, why the hell don't you just go ahead and try it for yourself to know if it's really bad or not. And I didn't even mention the MP, which is insanely fun, the only problem with MP is that there's not many players and servers, and you might get a laggy/poor experience as a result. But the game is perfectly fine, it's not Warband, it's never meant to be Warband, it'll never be warband. It's a different setting, so expect different mechanics and most of all: Play wisely.
Guns and grenades are OP as heck too.
Grenades are super expensive and rarely kill anyone.

cRPG is exceptionally addicting.
Oh god i hate it when the server keeps autobalancing you so you're always on the losing team.
cRPG is exceptionally addicting.
Grinding. People love grinding, even if it frustrates the shit out of them. Trust me, you are going to hate yourself and your addiction sooner or later.
And you're not supposed to go all William Wallace on the enemies..
I beg to differ! [t]http://i.cubeupload.com/dzi6eD.jpg[/t] It actually works even better than it did in warband. You can easily take down heavy cavalry with a thrust from a zweihander or claymore and it makes mincemeat of pikemen/musketeers. Because shields don't really serve much a purpose anymore (against muskets) it makes more sense to get yourself a two-hander and a good set of armor and shred up enemy formations. Likewise since the really good sets of plate armor afford you a massive amount of protection, you can become immune to most low tier troops. Unfortunately since the game is pretty linear its not a whole lot of fun to be a travelling mercenary. The game sort of funnels you into doing the linear storyline.

It's still surprisingly fun, dodging all the incoming fire, and slaying them one by one as they shit their fancy pants trying to swing their rifle.
What singleplayer mod would you recommend that incorporates both firearms and freelancer?

And if you aren't shit with a one-hander, shields dominate melee.

They smash shields to bits with a couple strikes and spears are super fast. shields only really work against bow factions.
Grinding. People love grinding, even if it frustrates the shit out of them. I rage so hard sometimes but I can't stop playing...
You can skip the grinding now though, so the grinding part is a thing of the past if you didn't like it. There's a huge penalty to it though, but if you're like me you don't care about restarting over and over for better weapons and stats.
