Do enemies level with you in Warband?
I meant Ransom Brokers not slave traders, initially.
But did the vanilla game sell prisoners at different prices? I hardly remember because it's been so long.
If you're new to Warband you should invest in the mod "Native Expansion". It's essentially like vanilla Warband except it has re-balanced and reworked many of the original game whilst improving it on multiple levels.
Slave traders, for example, will buy off prisoners at different prices depending on their military level/rank (looters won't be the same price as a huskarl for example--if I recall correctly, the vanilla game keeps all prisoners sold (regardless of level) at a measly, flat rate of 50 gold apiece).
The game can be unforgiving at times but it's extremely addicting once you keep everything in order. Don't lose faith!
I don't like Native Expansion. It changes way too much for me to be comfortable with it.

All prisoners sold for the same amount of gold in the original Mount & Blade.
They are sold at prices corresponding to their rank in vanilla Warband.

No, thank god.
I guess the one exception would be that roaming parties of bandits get bigger over time. Its kind of annoying if you like to roam around with a smaller war party.

I think it calculated off of their level, minus a bit.. maybe a x 9 equation. If they are level 16 they get sold for 140 gold, if they are level 28 they get sold for 260 gold, or something like that.

Speaking of bandit parties getting bigger, they do that to the extreme in Floris Expanded (with certain settings on high I think). There are like, these bandit parties of like 300 or so, accompanied by another butt-ton of bandit parties all at like, 100+. Annoying. They take on anybody and win. Even the king.

Isn't that triggered by not destroying bandit hideouts?

I fought with like 1500 once. I lost, but managed to kill of a lot of them.
It is actually kind of fun to try to kill them all, but I'd still rather have it fixed.
Anybody know if I can play custom siege maps? And if so could you link me to some good ones?

Yeah. But I mean, constantly campaigning around and stuff kinda makes finding and exterminating every hideout a pain.
Also, I've witnessed normal lord parties of extreme numbers. Sultan Hakim has like, 600, but then one of his lords has 900. Why? Because of the whole "recruit prisoners from a party you defeated" thing. They both have literally 200+ caravan guards and mercenary swordsmen.
So the way I imagine it played out - caravan gets attacked and bandits take prisoners. Lord fights bandits and wins all the prisoners, builds up army to ridiculous numbers. It's also dumb.
Welp. I've convinced myself to create a 40-strong warband of a varied assortment of top tier troops to raid settlements and piss off Lords.
And it's all because of this song.

Good luck should you ever get surrounded by lords.
Good luck should you ever get surrounded by lords.
What's Charisma? I'll focus on Strength and Agility while having the few troops I have be the most elite and by then the wars will have drained most of the Lords of their best troops. It'll be the ultimate test of Quantity vs Quality.
Besides, it's just Freelancer + Diplomacy. Not Floris with the insane troop counts everyone else was talking about.
Today I learned that Blood and Steel lets you mow down everything and get insane amounts of money to buy mercenaries. It also apparently lets you fire bee hives out of mortars and fight thousands of skeletons and is the best mod to ever happen.

Native Expansion is fucking hard and i wouldn't recommend it to a M&B newbie at all
i'd say play vanilla and figure out how the game works, start as a peasant and play up until you manage to become a vassal to a faction and learn the noble game, then fuck around with modules and other stuff.
I'm a vassal now. I got my first village, then lost it a few minutes later when 300 enemies showed up (I have about 45)

A true man would have held it.
when you defend villages you get all the peasants on your side in the battle too

so this means the game will run a bit smoother now?

Indeed.
200 player battles will be nice.
I'm playing as a noble on vanilla as a vassal of the Nords. I have a town and a castle on opposite sides of the world map (the Vaegirs were basically annihilated by my dudes), and I just lost my entire host to the Sarranids. Fuck.
Face generator system now supports multiple meshes to apply deforms.
That sounds interesting.
Anyone have some good mods for me if I just want to play lots of large scale maps and battles with custom game option?
-snip, nevermind-

The update broke the sound for me, not sure if its just the patch or if its conflicting with one of my mods.
Napoleonic wars will be on steam right?
Would be cool if they'd bundle warband and NW together and sell it for a bit cheaper, would get a lot of people into the game.

Haha, Baptism by Fire my friend.
Personally, after not playing M&B after a year, I bought Warband and nose dived right into Native Expansion. It was good to get hang of the game with that added challenge. Makes every positive gain mean that much more.
But that's just my case, others can do it your way as well and that's fine. Mod's great none the less though.
