but when I do quests, the quest giver is never where he was when he gave it to me. So I can't get my reward.
You can always ask a Lord or King about the location of the quest giver, whom I'm assuming is a lord in this case as they're the only ones that really move around.

Where are you right now ingame? I consider Swadia to be good newby territory as the troop trees are varied and Forest Bandits are the weakest as long as you don't suck. Prey on them until you have an army of about 40-60 people (should be able to repel any bandits) then try trading to get money to get businesses to afford more troops.
I've already played a lot of Warband and I just bought With Fire&Sword along with Napoleonic wars.
The Rhodok king showed up to siege my castle right after I took control of it, so I went out and fought his 200 man party with my 20 huscarls and 20 Swadian knights.
Won with no casualties, captured the king, feels good man.

If you are being attack by mounted bandits, stay out of khergit or sarranid territory until you have a good pathfinding ability. They are comprised purely of mounted troops so they receive a huge speed bonus on the world map.
However if you are being ambushed by non-mounted bandits you must not be paying attention, because they move very slowly and can rarely catch you if you avoid them. Also, use tactics in battle. If your troops just run off into a giant mob of melee you're going to die. Get on top of a hill and position your troops.
Question. What are the singleplayer differences between Warband and the original? I have the original and have no intentions of playing multiplayer, so what benefits does Warband offer in singleplayer?
If you will never play multiplayer and don't need the slightly better graphics (and everything else) there's no point other than mods to get warband imo.

He must have had no top tier troops. In my experience a Rhodok Sergeant is almost as bad as a Nord Huscarl.

You know warband added a ton of content and features, right?

The ones with the military hammers tend to be those ones who do the most damage. Nord Veterans are roughly equal to Rhodok Sergeants in stats and equipment though, Huscarls surpass both.
Rhodok Sharpshooters are a fuck of a lot worse than the Sergeants. They are basically rhodok sergeants with siege crossbows. Everybody is always like "rhodok sergeant this, rhodok sergeant that"" but if the sharpshooters aren't shooting you and your troops in the back they are swarming you with armor piercing melee weapons.
I'm willing to bet that 100 Rhodok SS would win a battle against 100 Nord Huscarls.. assuming their ranks were layered.
I played some Duel with my friends in Warband.
The first game ended as soon as I got a kill. I thought this looked pretty cool.

We got horses and just stood around hitting each other.

Eventually another guy joined us.

Then some people on foot joined in.

We got naked and moved to the center of the map.

We then tried fighting with nothing but four shields and hand-to-hand.

And then shields + kicking.

A little later the game ended and I got stuck like this, another thing I thought looked cool.

Many brave horses lost their lives.

I didn't get any pictures, but I dueled this guy Maximus. We were both on horseback, and mine got killed. He got off his to fight but I ran right by him and stole his horse. We dueled a couple more times and the same thing kept happening.
He must have had no top tier troops. In my experience a Rhodok Sergeant is almost as bad as a Nord Huscarl.
It was mostly Crossbowmen, and the AI seems pretty bad at using them. I just had to ride behind their lines, and they all turned to shoot at me (and missed), while my men stabbed them in the backs.
Lol.
Nearly 24 hours after buying this game, I still cant play it.
Are you fucking kidding me steam?
So hard figuring out which skills to go for at the beginning, I know there should be some strategic when picking which attributes or skills to spend points on. But I just follow the method of "Ooo this looks useful" *click*

I always prioritize ironskin, leadership and pathfinding. That way I can be of use in a battle, have lots of men, and move fast on the map to avoid huge enemy parties.

Ahh fair enough, guess I'll major in those at the beginning and expand to my own set of skills later on.
Also, HURRY UP STEAM AND GIMME MY CD KEY!
You know warband added a ton of content and features, right?
Yes, but it's not that amazing.
Finally got my CD key, wanted to install Diplomacy from here:
http://www.mbrepository.com/file.php?id=1887
but it comes up before the install saying that it will most likely not work with the version of the game I have? Should I ignore it? Or can someone link me to the correct version for the steam version of the game?
The game was recently updated for the DLC, so a lot of mods haven't been updated for it yet. You'll have to wait for the mods to be updated or hope that they'll still work.

Pathfinding is a party skill, so I would just give it to one of your heroes, and use your points for something else.
You'll also really want to give surgery to someone, it's very helpful in the early game.
got warband but can't shell out for the DLC
are there any warband mods that have the same feel as M&M?
mass formations, teamwork etc
I told the King to help me siege the final Swadian castle. He started the siege, then sat outside.
It's been about 20 days, and he won't leave so that I can siege it myself, and he won't begin the attack.
Any way to get him to leave?
Yes, but it's not that amazing.
Well the combat system in regular Mount and Blade is completely outdated and worthless. The animations look ridiculous and none of the many balance fixes and important changes were put back into the original. I can't fathom any reason why someone would want to buy it instead of Warband.
Maybe Star Wars: Conquest...
Maybe FP could make it's own regiment for Napoleonic Wars to mess around in online games with. I hate playing in a sever and just be mindlessly running around with the other players.
Ahhh! trying to trade Dead Space pack + dota 2 tradable for M&B pack + dlc.. not working at all..
spent the whole day trying lol ugh
A real man loves his woman every day of the month.

I second this.

Oh my god, this looks ... exactly the same!
Damn, I really was hoping they would use a more open engine.
[editline]23rd April 2012[/editline]
I honestly hope those are fake.
How come every time i fight it says for example "you have 50 fit troops to fight", and in battle many less actually appear (about 25)?
I'm sure I give them rest after each battle, and have food and morale up. Someone help, I'm a noob at this game.
Is napoleonic wars worth getting even if I'm not a part of a regiment or have any friends who will play it?
