Whats so bad about this cRPG? I never played much mount and blade online.
I really dislike the MP for M&B.. with or without cRPG. It's two things: 1. the "twitch" combat, you win by flailing your arms stupidly trying to fool your opponent or something, people say it takes "skill" but its god-awfully annoying to me 2. The community.. are generally dicks online, and they praise these "l33t" players and gossip about them and it's just annoying
cRPG ads leveling to m&b and the pure skill based system this game has is abused by it. ...so i saw it when the crpg started so i didn't wanted to have anything with it. Maybe if i hopped in on the start i could made me a great character, but now i don't have the nerves to get owned the first 10 gameplay hours to get half-decent character.
Also, hats for M&B.. ugh how many idiots are going to buy this game for them

IMO its still the best melee combat system any game came up with and it was totally addicting for me. I had intense nerve wrecking fights without shields lasting over a minute. 2. I completely agree.

[editline]28th April 2011[/editline] Then you have to deal with that for like 15 hours minimum. I just gave up because why would I want to play a game in which all I did was hide. I mean except for amnesia.
Can someone tell me why Fire & Sword is cheaper then Warband? Is it worth preordering you think or should I just buy Warband?
Just reposting because I was unlucky and got last post on last page.
Dunno why, maybe it's smaller? They probably removed some medieval stuff, it being in the 1800's or whatever
Dunno why, maybe it's smaller? They probably removed some medieval stuff, it being in the 1800's or whatever
I think its because its not a full new game. Its sort of more of an expansion. [editline]28th April 2011[/editline] I thought people were joking about there being tf2 hats for this. But I guess that answers why its the second most bought game on steam right now.
Quick question for people who know about these games; if I buy Fire and Sword, do I need to worry about getting Warband? I speak mostly from a multiplayer standpoint. I want to start playing with my friends who are all getting Fire and Sword, but will I need Warband for content?
it's stand alone, I shouldn't think so, unless you want a warband mod or something
How much food/drink/luxuries should I get if I want to hold a feast? Are you able to hold a less extravagant feast compared to a more extravagant feast?
Whats so bad about this cRPG? I never played much mount and blade online.
I can go on for hours on why cRPG is a like a cancer that killed and then raped the dead body of warband's online but here's the tldr version. I sure love unbalanced multiplayer mods. I specially love a mod that throws level 2 players and level 15355353 fire breathing fully armored knights that can kill half of the other team by just looking at them all together. cRPG throws skill out of the window, it's just about who started playing first. If you're a peasant starting out I suggest not to bother at all. As a peasant, you're basically absolutely worthless to your team - you're only there to provide fodder to the higher rank players and nothing else - that's it. I don't mind dying a ton if I have the slightest feeling that I am remotely contributing to my team while leeching xp and gold but I do squat/zero/nada as a peasant as with all the other peasants. I've seen one player take on 8 peasants and basically demolished them all with nary a scratch. I don't expect 3 peasants to kill a vet player but that's a bit ridiculous. I thought things would get better after I leveled some , get better equipment, skills points etc but instead of dying in one shot I'll die in 2 - woopiedoo. So unless you've been playing Crpg for a while and reasonably well-equiped, give this a pass. People usually say "Get a shield and stay behind the lines" ? As if that will stop knights coming in and charging through the peasants. Everytime one charges in, it leaves mangled peasant bodies in its wake - thanks for that very helpful suggestion. And there's another thing I noticed - the higher lvls pay almost no attention to opposing high lvl players instead making a beeline for peasants right off the bat and this happens with either team. If I wanted to be farmed by level 80s..I'd go play Aion or WoW and make up a lvl1 lowbie and spend my entire playtime venturing into pvp areas. Playing vanilla mp after playing crpg was like night and day - I was actually getting kills for a change. What a weird concept for PvP /sarcasm I'll tell you why CRPG is a bastardization of RPG. I have played tons of rpgs..including ones back when they were still text based. Single rpgs, MMORPGs, carebear rpgs, hardcore pvp rpgs..played them all. All of the rpg's I have played allow you to actually build up your character by actually playing the game, by using whatever low level equipment and skills that you have to slowly but surely progress and build your character. Then along comes cRPG.. Name me one rpg where your character advances only by you dying and your body lying in a field dead. That's right, spend 30 hours leeching xp and gold by DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING after you've died. Name me one rpg that gives you xp and gold for doing nothing after you've been killed. How much different is that from idling/picking my nose while my char leeches xp and gold - because while I'm watching my dead char I'm rolling in xp and gold! How crazy is that? That's like kids now in grade school where everyone gets a star and a grade just for showing up, why even bother trying hard in school. Why even bother trying hard in cRPG as a peasant? You'll still get the phat loots! I'm sure people love crpg because they can 'build their char' by just logging in and not doing much else - must be nice but I rather my rpg's require a bit more involvement. If they took out exp gaining and gold after you've died in crpg, and I'm pretty certain the peasants will have a mass revolt. Why? Because advancement would be next to impossible. One familiar aspect of an rpg is the tradeoff between risk and reward. The bigger the risk the greater the reward, or opt for safer risks for smaller and gradual rewards. But in cRPG there is none of that. Even worse, cRPG basically rewards failure. Failure with patience. If cRPG was fable: the lost chapters it would have been like this: you're 4 years old bandits just killed your parents and burned down your village *the first cut-scene ends and you're still that 4 year old kid* Bam you're thrown in with the final boss, that big dragon *Fight!*" /rant
I won't buy Fire and Sword, it's basically a priced mod. Seriously I've seen even better mods than it IMO. And anyways most of the modding community stays with Warband, so yeah..
text here
the stay behind the shield thing basically means, stay where you'll still get EXP, and avoid getting shot at. most knights will charge at peasents though, because they are DICKS also your EXP rant is silly because you basically answered your own problem. but yeah, crpg is silly. you need to play for like 4 weeks before you can even be nearly helpful.
i played the demo for this game and it was awesome and surprisingly i can play on my crap computer i havent bought the full game yet but i would defiantly suggest this to friends

And anyways most of the modding community stays with Warband, so yeah..
The average life of a multiplayer mod is 2 months (yes I know about MM, but before the event it had few players) After that you are lucky to find 10 people playing, regardless of the concept. And no you haven't, because theres going to be none if not a few old armors, and new armors in the highest standard. There will be a storyline with multiple outcomes, (the only mod Ive seen attempt it before this was for the original) firearms, a mode that will let us command armies of bots against other players, and entirely new scenes with new concepts like moats, wooden forts and such.
What's the best Warband mod? Or at least, the most complete/expansive one.
Wow Swadian Knights are insanely effective against the Khergit.
Theres cRPG. Its a multiplayer mod where you level up a character and buy weapons and armor and raise stats. It's a bit slow in the beginning but it starts to get good later on. 100 years war. France and England, a basic Red vs. Blue on a large map. The battlefields tend to be flatter and its quick to get into the action that way. Brytenwalda is one that I've played a lot too. Also Battlesizer for up to 1000 men battles. If your PC can handle it.
Eh, should've mentioned I'm looking for single-player mods. The kind that expand the game's current setup without completely changing it.
1257 Ad is quite fun.
1257 Ad is quite fun.
Crashes too much for me :sigh:
If you're looking for a sort of anachronistic neo-renaissance era mod, you owe it to yourself to check out The Eagle and the Radiant Cross. I've just played a battle with a bunch of neo-Prussians against heavily armored knights. The battle wasn't as pitched as you think it was, those Knights of the Radiant cross can take quite a beating, but Die Kaiserliche State always triumph! [editline]29th April 2011[/editline] Is "Kaiserliche" male or female? [editline]29th April 2011[/editline] Or would the "State" be the noun being referred to in this case? I took German for one semester :v:
I got the 1755 mod. (Set in North America) It's interesting, but I find it bizarre how I can change skin colour by putting on or removing different clothes. Seriously, I hired an Indian hero dude to help me in battles. I took all of his equipment off and I found that I had not hired an Indian, but a white man pretending to be one. Consequently I hired all the heroes in the game, tricked them out in good uniforms and rifles, and went about raping everything.
100 years war and Brytenwalda are SP total conversions. Battlesizer is an add on so you have more troops in the game. Theres one where they added more siege ladders, which made my invasions so much easier. I think Diplomacy is another good addon if you like to add more depth to the political part of the game.
Can I get links to a few of these? I can't for the life of me find the siege ladders or diplomacy one.
Fire and Sword is already out in some countries and those people say it's shit. I like the idea though. Also i like c-rpg because you don't get killed by 1 hit of anything. You can be, but don't have to be. The leveling is debatable but i like the balance and that you can save up money to go all out with that too powerful shiny gear. oh my god I might actually buy with fire and sword for the new sieges, warband had one fucking siege map and it was fucking terrible owing to your entire force charging up one ladder, getting slaughtered and pushing you off
